Legend_in_blue Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 I agree that Hodgson is clueless. He never comes across to me as being particularly bright. Maybe it's just how he comes across on camera. Nerves get the better of him and he comes out with garbage.
polarbear Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 So you are simply saying that we have a shit set of players. More shit than Costa Rica and Italy and Uruguay. I dont agree and never will. Hodgson has proven to be clueless. Unfortunately. Back to the drawing board and two years of 'expectation'. Again. really so you tell me where these good players we have are? barkley shaw lallana and co all have the potential...genuinly believe the next 2 tournaments we could make an impact then gerrard lampard rooney arent that good - its no surprise when they play for their clubs with foreign players they are great, however for england they are crap as the responsibility is on them to look after and manage the ball. look world class in the prem and champs leagye thenlook then look average on the international stage then theres johnson, jags, smalling, jones....nothing needs to be said here i dont know what you want roy to do...he cant be on the pitch telling cahill not to leave suarez on that long ball or gerrard not to give the ball away on the first, or making rooney score the numerous chances compare that to these examples: pirlo - ball management de rossi - tackles, runs, gets the ball to pirlo but most importantly can manage and track the space balotelli - love or hate him he scores suarez - we all know about him cavani - another world class goalscorer and all round technical ability

Guest ttfn Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 Sorry but this is why I'll never like Roy. He thinks I'm cheering about a 0-0 draw with Costa Rica? Is this a joke. I know what you mean, I was absolutely livid when we scored the 3rd most goals in UEFA qualifying.
Fox92 Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 I know what you mean, I was absolutely livid when we scored the 3rd most goals in UEFA qualifying. I can't honestly believe you continue to defend him. We've gone out at the group stages of the World Cup ffs.
Guest Col city fan Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 I can't honestly believe you continue to defend him. We've gone out at the group stages of the World Cup ffs. People continue to defend all sorts at all costs. It's almost becoming 'wrong' to hurl any criticism.Apart from Redknapp. Christ! Imagine some of the comments on here if HE had failed like Woy has done. My phone would have exploded. #hypocrisyreignssupreme
Leicesterpool Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 Well no win in five worryingly but a few positives from today, defended better is one of the main positives, created bags of chances. The thing we're missing is a goalscorer, so many chances but no one to put them away. Of course we should have had a few pens through out this tournament, but the refs have somehow missed them.
Dan Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 Sturridge let us down. Shame as he got into the positions but his finishing/touch was poor throughout and that's the difference. Sturridge turns up and we've won comfortably. Not too bothered. Played some decent football at times although neither side particularly impressed me. Got a lot of time for Luke Shaw. Second game running though we've played over half the game against eleven men when we shouldn't have. 100% a penalty and red card in the first half.
yorkie1999 Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 Bring back Kevin Keegan, tournament football is about excitement and scoring lots of goals. Hodgson is not clueless, but his style is to defend and nick a goal, that is how he got west brom to 8th in the premier league which some might argue is a result, but it's fvcking boring.
Danno Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 Sean Dyche for me. Forster Flanagan Shackell Caulker Shaw Huddlestone Livermore Shelvey Ings Wickham Kane
Nalis Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 This England team was never going to win the World Cup so why not focus on the future by playing youth in an attacking manner. If Hodgson had the players from 2002/2006 at his disposal then yes, maybe you could criticise but he doesnt. The players will learn from this and will reap the rewards at the next few tournaments!
bovril Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 Like Natalie Imbruglia I'm torn. OK he hasn't got the players but seriously we have been shiteissimo, we weren't anywhere near as good against the Italians as people reckoned and even they've turned out to be rather average. 1 point from that group is appalling and you have to say that Hodgson, as the manager, has utterly failed. The only thing that makes me say "keep him" is that I doubt anybody else would do much better.
fazzyfox Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 Breaking news - Fifa announce that any Suarez goals in this tournament will be rescinded and points adjusted accordingly! Oh well, worth a try........
bovril Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 Breaking news - Fifa announce that any Suarez goals in this tournament will be rescinded and points adjusted accordingly! Oh well, worth a try........ Wouldn't we still be out?!? (edit just worked it out and no we wouldn't)
foxes_rule1978 Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 Wouldn't we still be out?!? No, we would be on four points Italy only 3 And Uruguay 3
bovril Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 No, we would be on four points Italy only 3 And Uruguay 3 Yeah but he got an assist tonight
Webbo Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 Shit end to a shit world cup. Only Jones and Foster impressed me today. Thank fvck I'm on holiday next week and won't have to watch anymore of it.

Corky Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 It's gonna be good now England are out. TalkSport will have nothing to talk about now and might close.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 TalkSport will have nothing to talk about now and might close. I'd take that over a World Cup win.
Tielemans63 Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 I never thought I'd say this and it pains me to say it , but here it goes....... (Deep breath) ....Chris Smalling played okay* *I did fall asleep and miss at least 30 mins of the game.
