Deeney saga back on

Well because he tried to kick a lads head in while they were down on the ground. The man is a thuggish ****, and I'd hate to see him in a city shirt.

Good to see the justice / rehabilitation system and the concept of giving offenders a second chance is something you so clearly agree with...

For all we know he could've been tanked up and been copping abuse from a group of loutish students, there are plenty of theoretical situations that could've sparked the incident. Not excusing what he did, but he's hardly got a list of misdemeanours as long as your arm like Marlon King / Nile Ranger, and by all accounts (from Watford fans that visit this forum, mainly) he's a fantastic influence in the dressing room at Vicarage Road and has his head screwed on. Judging from his goalscoring exploits since the incident, everything would indicate he's focused on improving his game.

Only concern with this deal (along with what we're paying) is he seems to have a history of struggling to acclimatise quickly to a division once he's made the step up, judging from his goal scoring stats.

Wow nothing like a second chance in life. I know him through a friend and he is a really good bloke with a chequered past. Do you know how the fight came about?

Cheers Qwerty, so when you say bid approved you mean the club are making a new bid tomorrow but not yet been accepted by Watford?

He means the club ie the owners and board have agreed on the details that they want to offer (money upfront etc.) and then they will submit that offer to Watford tomorrow.

2012/13 - 19 goals in the league

2013/14 - 24 goals in the league

Powerful striker. Goals in him. A real handful.

Strong on the ball, quite greedy, not afraid of having a shot, good touch and good close control with the ball at his feet... If he misses the ball he turns around and hits it and scores... He scores for fun in the lower league

He's a complete forward. Has the attributes of all of our strikers put together just none of them are stand out like vardys energy and pace, ulloas ariel threat and nugents.... Penalty taking?

But if we do get him I can see him being the main man with either of the others playing along side him.

Ahh ok cheers guys!

Does anyone know if Deeney is playing for Watford in the Capital Cup tonight?

If he isn't playing, that could be a strong indication that he is due to sign for a new club.........................hopefully City.

So what is your opinion of our manager? As he clearly wants to see him in a city shirt. Hence out pursuit of him.

The fact he is not playing tonight - Capital Cup. I would read zilch into this.

Oh I agree with rehabilitation and second chances, I just don't want to see someone who thinks that trying to kick someone to death is fine in a Leicester shirt. Just as I wouldn't want to see Lee Hughes in a city shirt - while he served his time, what he did was still deplorable.

The reports all suggest that he and his mates set upon the students while they were defenceless, and gave them "a gratuitous beating" to the point that one victim needed plastic surgery to repair the damage.

So what is your opinion of our manager? As he clearly wants to see him in a city shirt. Hence out pursuit of him.

Stupid question. I like Nigel, but I'm certainly allowed to disagree with his judgement of a character.

Why stupid? You clearly have an issue with the player, what's you plan if he does sign? Do you have a ST? Will it affect your attendance on match days?

Because my opinion of Pearson has nothing to do with my opinion of Deeney.

What's my plan? lol  lol  - I don't plan for things like that, I plan for things that matter. He's a twat, but an irrelevant twat - one player in 25+ wouldn't change how I felt about the club. I don't, and no.

I'm sorry but Lee Hughes killed someone, to compare him to Deeny isn't a fair comparison at all. Sensless post

The remorse he's shown since would indicate he think it's anything but "fine" surely? As said, I'm not defending his actions but you can't agree with the concept of rehabilition to contradict yourself completely.

Newspaper reports mentioning that the students were "defenceless" doesn't necessarily mean they had no part to play in provoking the incident. The general feel of this article seems to indicate somebody that has quite severely realised the repurcussions of a (I concede, extreme) drunken brawl.

He could well be the "thug" you think he is based on what he did, but there are just as many reports and articles created since the incident to imply otherwise.

Hope we don't get him. Over rated. Eight to ten million quid down the drain.

Scored more goals than Ulloa, Vardy & Nugent last season.

Fair enough, I only ask as people may feel strong enough to not go if he is in the team. Some of the views from people in here to his signing have been quite strong.

Offer them Wood as a part deal!

I'd imagine that's plan B if the next bid is rejected.

Shane Long going Saints, meaning Bruce might go for Deeney.

Blimey. He's only been at Hull 5 minutes!

Hes probably not in yhe squad due to their depth.. resting for the league.. wudnt mind him but 10m is a bit much

I wudnt be surprised to see saints go for deeney instead of long
