Dickov22 Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Close call between Wes and Mahrez MOTM. King also had a very good game
Dickov22 Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Poor for me: Nugent (invisible) Knocky (off the pace) De Laet struggled first half but Mahrez didn't help him enough
RowlattsFox Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Morgan, Moore and King 8 Kasper, konchesky, Mahrez, ulloa, Hammond, wood 7 Knockaert, Schlupp and nugent 6 De laet 5
davieG Posted 16 August 2014 Author Posted 16 August 2014 How do you see the overall results? Stuliasz who created this will post them when the poll closes.
Please Hammer Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Morgan MOTM for sure. Moore, Mahrez, King, Ulloa all good, 5s for Nuge, Knock, De Laet
stevelcfc Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Think the manager should be given one more game to prove himself.
stevelcfc Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Disagree about Nuge his pressurising and work rate caused them problems at the back and eased the pressure on the midfield.
Stadt Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 The ref was shit, there was a few times where I couldn't tell you why he stopped play at all yet he blew up for it
LcFc_Smiv Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Harsh on De Laet, don't think Knockaert or Mahrez provided suitable cover and he dealt with being doubled up on as well as you could hope against the likes of Baines and Pinnear.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Think the manager should be given one more game to prove himself. I think it's more of a "did Pearson get his tactics / substitutions etc spot on in this particular game?" rather than a genuine "do you want the manager sacked?" poll.
dmayne7 Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Just seen that King had a 96% pass completion rate. Pretty impressive. Think he was just about Man of the Match. Most of them 7's from me. Think Drinky would have got it had it not be for his injury. Looks like he's picked up King's defensive nouse which could make him a complete midfielder.
Guest ttfn Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Schmeichel 7 - unlucky with the first goal as he'd just made a smart stop. Largely untroubled. De Laet 5 - Not a great game from RDL today and understandably struggled to get forward. Morgan 8 - dealt with Lukaku pretty comfortably. Moore 8.5 - Thought he just edged Big Wes for me. A couple of thunderous tackles and some solid headers might have impressed the watching England manager. Konchesky 7 - gets a lot of stick but he's solid and pretty dependable. Mahrez 7 - poor first half, good second half. King 8.5 - MOTM. Mopped up so much and kept the ball moving. Drinkwater 6 - I have to disagree with a lot of people who thought he was playing well before he came off. He was struggling to get on the ball and when he was he wasn't using it as well as we saw from him last year. Still not bad though and hopefully he'll be back soon. Knockaert 5 - not his day from open play but a couple of good set pieces. Ulloa 7 - a lot more work rate than I was expecting. Nice finish. Nugent 7 - ran his nuts off. Subs: Hammond 6.5 - kept possession well but moveds the ball far too slowly for my liking. Stuck to his task in defence well. Schlupp 7 - gave them something different to think about, but an awful miss. Wood 7 - basically the same as Ulloa.
Thracian Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 I had Morgan marginally ahead of King because of the man-mountain he had cope with. Restricting Lukaku to one under-pressure header and little more than bits and pieces was a considerable achievement although King's 96% accuracy with his 45 passes shows just how well he played and there were some timely and determined tackles as well together with the problem caused by the loss of Drinkwater. There were worthy mentions too for Moore, one covering tackle being particularly memorable, for Ulloa for getting quicly off the mark with our first equaliser, for Wood for an excellent finish and generally determined and effective play plus Schlupp for giving us a much greater threat on the left for all that he missed such a golden chance with his first touch of the ball. Altogether an excellent point but I can see where Pearson was coming from when he said he was disappointed we didn't win. I just thought we were a bit inhibited when, in fact, we might have put them under greater pressure because they weren't that hot at the back for sure. Schmeichel 6.5 (A couple of decent stops but not busy). De Laet 6 (So much of their danger came from the left although he was left exposed by his team-mates at times). Morgan 8 (Had a lot to cope with deal with Lukaku and came out a worthy winner). Moore 8 (Immense particularly one covering tackle in the first half). Konchesky 7 (Steady but limited going forward). Mahrez 6.5 (Had a hand in the second goal and so nearly scored from a free-kick but too many touches at times). King 8 (96% passing accuracy with one and two-touches says it all really. Involved in so much and very determined). Drinkwater 5 (Bit of a nothing game even before his injury). Knockaert 5 (Looked lightweight to me and took too many touches too often. Okay from corners)Ulloa 7 (His goal just what any striker needs but he did a shift too). Nugent 6 (Rarely looked a goal threat but never stopped working).Subs: Hammond 6.5 (Steady enough during what was an improved second half for us) . Schlupp 7 (We definitely posed more threat when he came on and his brilliant first run left their back line for dead. Sad it was such a dreadful finish when a simple side-foot to the far corner would probably have sufficed). Wood 7.5 (Excellent and much-needed goal but also contested everything and made himself quite a handful).
Roy M Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Huge credit to Hammond. He was brilliant in the 2nd half. Moore excellent as well. MOTM is Mahrez
Daz93 Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Kingy MOTM, chuffed for him. Worked so hard and didn't put a foot wrong. Morgan and Moore were both solid and marshaled everyone well and had Lukaku tied up all game. Mahrez showed what he can do and pulled their pants down for Wood's goal. De Laet had a poor game, but I think he struggled with Baines overlapping and wasn't sure whether to take him or follow Pienaar inside. In the end did neither and was caught out a lot. Everyone else decent. A great point and we showed some real fight and resolve. So pleased with the result.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Big Wes has to be MOTM. Lukaku tried to bully Wes like he has done to many a centre half and Wes just shrugged him off as if he were Chris O Grady.
