Transfer policy what's the problem?

Recommended Posts

I remember a few seasons ago when Savage signed for us he wanted the same wage as Muzzy Izzet and MON said if you want the same wage as him you have to prove your worth it, perhaps we are going down the same route again if someone is asking more in wages than some of the players we already have they have to prove it.

On a different scenario  SGE signed Beckford on more wages than others at the club and lets face it he was here just to pick his wages up nothing else and as far as I can see was a disruptive influence on the dressing room  is that the route you want us to go down again

I agree with Col city fan's comments - we shouldn't be looking to pay silly money in transfer terms either in terms of wages (eg Cambiasso) or transfer fee (Deeney). [Regarding the latter, we should see what Wood does until at least the next January window.]If we finish in a decent position, and with regular crowds of 30,000+, then is the time to look at spending more. I think any further signing should be someone capable playing at full back where I think we're weakest defensively,

I see a lot of similarities with the team now with set up and team togetherness as with the MON era and I like it.

I'm wary that if we do sign players on bigger wages e.g Cambiasso that it could be more of a disruption than a resolution.

Vardy is an example of being on a lower wage and now his proving what his worth his on more

I think , well , I know , that at the very end of the transfer window , they're sorted in a matter of minutes . ask Jermaine beckford .

And that move worked out well. Other than the last day or so of the window it most likely takes more than a couple days to sort out personal terms, bonuses, and any other issues the player may have.

You sir. Are spot bloody on. I am so looking forward to sept 1st when we have signed the square root of naff all and we then cant sign anyone until january we are languishing in the bottom three and the normal blue tinted spec morons moan we could have signed more? I personally just dont get it. It has taken us ten years to getback to the big time. I want us to stay in this league. You do have to spend at this level even Hull realise that. If the vast majority on this board are happy with one season in the prem and us being a yo yo club then good for them. I however am not one of them and want us to stay in this league. At this moment in time our squad is not good enough.

I trust that you aren't going to games this season then, given that you can predict the future?

Southampton and Swansea are the example of who we should be following. They rose through the leagues, and have sustained their status without buying a new squad every season.

We finished with 100+ points last season. We just got a good draw with a weakened team against Everton. We have played just one game so far. Fans like you don't deserve to be in the Premiership.

Let's see how the season unfolds before you shout down the players we currently have as shit.

Get a grip, you joyless c*nt.

maybe you should have a word with yourself. He isnt shouting any players down. Just pointing out what is glaringly obvious. We got a great point with a matchday squad inferior to the one that played out the last half a dozen matches last season.

Who would have imagined that when we were all celebrating promotion. Most like myself here are season ticket holders and do have a right to a view. One way or other

Overly cautious and lack of money offered. Nevermind 180 million. Looks less than 18 all in. Poor considering the income from Sky etc.

lol Like you know what the fvck is going on.

IF they sign, we have potentially yet to come in before deadline day:

CAMBIASSO,

ALVAREZ (or another)

SLIMANI/DEENEY (or another)

which takes our incoming transfers this summer to seven.

There also may be deals going on we are yet to hear about. Nigel realises he has got to get people in as do the other people responsible for recruitment as I said last night, so, let's have some faith. If we are sat here in February after the January window closes with the sum lot of what we have today, then and only then, can we really criticise anyone if it isn't going well.

Dont agree with you there with the point of if we are sitting here in a bad position 1st feb with no signings then moan.

If we are in a bad position come feb. We are in trouble. Period. Someone mentioned.10yrs to get there. Lets give it a whirl. Surely

You could sign anyone in an hour if you throw enough money at him.

Would you rather we use sven tactics and go bust or be a little conservative and have a club in 3yrs time?  Your choice.

That wasn't the point though was it...

Nail on head. Having money doesn't automatically mean players will want to join us. Like Hull, I think we'll have to somehow remain in the division, and then next season could be different. The only way players would be keen on us now, is if they are making an upward step.. Like Cresswell to West Ham or if we paid an established player silly money..which we don't want to do. IMO, like MON did, Pearson should be looking at lower league jewels, with a point to make, who won't command astronomical wages and who will only get better. Again, this is why I wouldn't have been looking, particularly, at a player like Cambiasso. People suggested that Assombalonga was overpriced. But Forest, though I hate to say it, have probably bought wisely in this instance.

Feeling relaxed after your FT break Col?

You say that, but then you'll be praying for the window to open again as you'll have 4-5 months of fans moaning constantly that we didn't sign enough players in the sumemr and our season is ruined.

I guess I'm just a little more patient than some on here and trust Nigel in what he and the staff are doing behind the scenes.

What we have, we have up until the January window and I'm glad we aren't panic buying for the sake of just adding numbers to the squad rather than the required quality Nigel is obviously trying to bring in.

I agree we're not an attractive proposition in many senses, but we're a step in the right direction. Come to us, do well, attract the big boys. Look what happened at Southampton.

We should have the money to bring in some decent players. All are mercenaries to an extent and money talks.

Id rather keep doing what we are doing than start panic buying. They have obviously worked hard at identifying targets

I trust the system that Pearson has.

Is Carroll stroking his ear?

Is Carroll stroking his ear?

Probably pissed out his head trying to get himself a thumb injury so he could have more time off.

He gets paid a daft amount of money and he has more 'sick days' that Betty who works at the YMCA shop in town for free.

Dear oh dear oh dear

The vast majority of fellow fans on this board are reasonable sensible posters and enjoy a debate.

What purpose does your rude, arrogant and abusive text serve?

I am just expressing a view inthat I do not believe our squad has enougth depth to compete regularly at premiership level.

For your information I have been a season ticket holder at City for nigh on thirty years and have supported City since 1968.

Please crawl back under your stone or go back to School on the 3rd september.

After all he has done for us, why are people still questioning Pearson and his methods?

You're all ****ing mental.

People are not really questioning his methods, but more I think, about his ability to bring top quality players in, because we are an unknown quantity at this moment in time. It's one thing for him to pick out who he requires, offer a good fee, only for the player to want to go to a more established side.

We don't blame the manager for not trying. It would appear he has, and not landed his man. Neither, I might add, can we blame the player for following the best options within his career path.

In Southampton's first season back in the premiership they signed 9 new players including two who cost £20 million between them.

In their second season they only signed 3 players but cost a total of £36 million.

So if you want to sustain their status like Southampton it looks like we'll have to spend money.
