Transfer policy what's the problem?

Oh BTW Fanni didn't impress in his 2 days training with us!

quite. Bn told by my son its in an article in l'equipe a french paper. So there goes the theory of greedy player wanting too much money

There seems to be some dominant theory on this forum that if a player comes in on more money than the rest of the squad then our much vaunted team spirit will

disappear faster than spit on an iron. Do people think that all our players are on exactly the same wage? If someone is paid more do the other plays sulk and refuse to train? not talk to this player on a few grand more? Would this individuals ability to buy a new sports car a whole week ahead of the others mean they no longer enjoy playing for us? Was it the varying wages that were to blame for the apparent lack of togetherness in svens team or was it actually down to the fact that a number of the players were just obnoxious twats to be around? I assume that man utds current troubles are probably down to the unrest that danny welbeck is causing due to being paid significantly less than Rooney, or maybe it's just that man utd are generally a bit average now.

I'd read the secret footballer, it opens your eyes!

Spot on!!... Fact is the few days left before the window closes will define our season!.. And the way it's looking I cannot see us buying in the players we need to survive this division... Many of you have ostrichitis!!!

I take umbrage at the last comment, I have nothing against the big feathered beasts, and my jokes about them not being able to fly were just that, jokes, I was in no way being discriminatory.

Um, so what's the problem here?

It's an even better justification for pulling out the deal if Nige thought his heart wasn't in it. Not many managers would progress that far into a deal and then decide 'nah, you're not the right fit' when it comes to players with international caps.

It's a good thing IMO and shows just how careful we are when trying to acquire the right characters.

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson still hopeful of Esteban Cambiasso deal

  • Nigel Pearson remains hopeful of signing Esteban Cambiass

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson confirmed there has been “no progress” on signing Esteban Cambiasso but is still hopeful of completing a deal.

There had been reports earlier this week that the Argentinian had all but completed his move to the King Power Stadium on a two-year deal, but Pearson said there had been no progress since the weekend.

“I don’t think it’s right to talk about players publically when we have not been able to achieve many deals,” said Pearson.

“The only one that is in the public domain and has been for a couple of weeks now is the Cambiasso one. We’ve not really made too much progress on that as we stand but I am still hopeful something could be done.

“Unfortunately at times it is quite a complicated process. It appears to be representatives coming out of the woodwork so it is very much a case of getting to the bottom of who represents who and trying to achieve the goal, and that is to add players to the squad.”

“It may not be football issues. It is slightly more complicated than I’m prepared to be discuss.”

Pearson also confirmed that Marseille right-back Rod Fanni will not be joining the club after spending a few days at the club.

“He has been in for a couple of days and we have decided not to pursue that,” said Pearson.

There had also been reports that former City centre-back Sol Bamba could be set for a return after being released by Turkish side Trabzonspor but Pearson confirmed that will not be the case.

Pearson also said striker Jamie Vardy and winger Marc Albrighton could feature against Chelsea on Saturday after both returned to training this week following injuries.

Best close the transfer section as he has just wiped out half the threads and the Wood one should be shut as we know he is stopping. lol lol lol

lets be honest, if we are going to be thin on the ground squadwise, then perhaps chelsea away is the best time.  i'd rather have a strong outfit at the kc or st marys than stamford bridge. the chances of us getting a result there with no injuries and a strong bench is slim anyway.  if we do manage a good showing, that will give those that play some more confidence at this level.  of course, if we get beaten by a late goal then 'what might have been' will be all over this forum.

Am feeling all warm inside. Lcfc can feel very proud of being part of a premiership thats heading towards an all time summer spend of £700m. Wouldnt it be great if our contribution of 8m was all the difference?

this can be reviewed in ten days time. if we havent spent any more dosh by that stage, then the question would become 'is this down to the manager or the board'. lest we forget, the owners have pumped over a hundred million into our club and if we spend 20 odd mill on players and increased contracts, then they could take a nice dividend at the end of this year to offset some of their investment. however, knowing our manager, he could easily be responsible for any strategy in this regard.  sir alex managed to toe the party line at OT for years and kept the ship afloat but now he's gone, its well and truly sunk!

do we need players in ? yes . was this a recent thing or known at the final whistle of the championship ? its obvious . does every and I mean every lcfc fan want more signings ? yes . when ? asap as that makes sense . its what it is, but we all deep down want/need movement but are too blue to admit it . there's only one way in football and it was started by the late jack walker ££££££££ . real Madrid had £390 mill of players on the pitch last week . its the only way . i'll be patient but I know the score .

I shall look forward with interest to the 1st Sept. Of course its not about pumping money for its sake into transfers, but if any team goes down but has kept a tidy balance, what does that prove or achieve? That we kept to ffp. No europa places available for that.

Im not negative. Am a fan of nigel. Just this knawing feeling in my gut that he isnt being able to play the transfer market as his knowledge of football should allow.

Of course us the fans will never be privy to real reasons why deals aren't getting done. Or as I allude to often, why they are allowed to drag on. If Cambiasso was 28 I could see why we hang on to his every word.. hoping. But he is 34.

Anyway I must be patient like everybody else.

I'm no keyboard warrior. He posted in an a aggressive tone and insulted those who didn't agree with him, as highlighted by the poster above when he tried to take the moral high ground as he replied to me.

I just think some 'fans' need to shut up and stop spreading negativity about the squad we already have. Be constructive and have some faith that we are going about business the right way.

We've spent 8m on one player who has scored on his debut. We've added 3 others who have yet to play. This is already to a title winning squad.

We might not have tied up the Cambiasso deal and Fanni deal, but that doesn't mean our policy on buying new players is wrong. You don't know what their demands are. Why would Fanni deserve a higher wage than RDL who has been outstanding for us? Would you be happy, or think the squad would be happy if Cambiasso asked for wages which might be twice that of Drinkwater?

People are quick to lambast players for being paid too much and having no loyalty to their team. Well we seem to have a likeable bunch who want to play for Leicester, yet if some fans had their way half of them would be relegated to 3rd/4th choice in the squad and not given a season in this league - in favour of a load of foreign mercenaries.

True, if we have a great season, then some players will have their heads turned by bigger clubs. But that's the nature of the beast.

There is no need to expect instant success in the transfer market or on the pitch. Give the manager and the players a season at least. If we get relegated, it's not the end of the world. At least we didn't sell our ethics to do so and instead we leave ourselves in a great position to bounce back.

Everyone calm the **** down, stop moaning before a ball has barely been kicked, be patient and enjoy the ride.

From reading that I have come to the conclusion that you know what your talking about, but the post before that was ruined by the last line in it (a childish insult that wasn't required). I have nothing against you or anyone else on this forum because we all have one thing in common, Leicester City! Why can't we all just get along. Good post though buddy, fair points made.

I personally don't think that money is the only issue here.

I think we may have a wage structure we want to stick too, this has a lot to do with the team ethic.

Our success last season was based on a group of 18/20 player all working towards the same goal of promotion. I believe this is why is is not as straight forward bringing players in as it seems for other clubs.

We need the right fit in terms of person, they need to have ability and they need to be the right cost.

Other club maybe only look at 1or 2 of the above where as I believe that it is important to out club that they match all of the above!

I think at the moment we would struggle to sign a Birthday Card.

Posted

I remember when Kasper signed, he said something on the lines that he had signed because he believed the club was progressive and that they could compete in the Prem. He said he looked forward to more signings arriving during the summer. Now this maybe a simplistic summary of what he said, but I wonder if any of the others who signed early were under the impression that quality signings would follow and whether the lack of activity so far in the transfer market may cause some unrest?

Posted

Its quite simple really, if we dont bolster the squad we will be relegated.

Against Everton we had 16 fit players to select from and that was the first day of the season when in theory they should all be fit and refreshed.

Come the cold winter days in January after a torrid Xmas schedule it will be game over.
