Transfer policy what's the problem?

I can see us getting no one else in this window !

I am glad no one cares what you think!!  I am sure you are wrong!!

Do you really get pleasure being so miserable?

I can see 3 or 4 and 2 loans likely to be included in that number.  Could be surprised and we get 5 new faces.  A lot of work I am sure is being done to get new players in.

Its quite simple really, if we dont bolster the squad we will be relegated.

Against Everton we had 16 fit players to select from and that was the first day of the season when in theory they should all be fit and refreshed.

Come the cold winter days in January after a torrid Xmas schedule it will be game over.

whilst this seems a very negative outlook, we would have to be lucky with injuries (as per last season) for this not to be the case.

No, it's not that simple really is it.

And next week we'll probably have a fully fit squad other than Upson, with some half decent players not even making the bench.

Did we get a spate of injuries last winter then?

A squad of players playing in the championship last season.

A squad of players playing in the championship last season.

I don't understand your point and how it relates to anything that I said.

Don't panic now! Panic deadline day when we still haven't signed anyone.

Personally think we will sign 2/3 players.

I'm not panicking about getting players in, it's their quality that I'm beginning to worry about at such a late stage. Apart from Cambiasso, and maybe Slimani, I can't say that many of the names mentioned as possible legitimate targets would ADD something better than what we already have.

I do apologise. Not up to speed with this quoting. The point I was making was in reply to your point to someone that next weekend we will have a better fitter squad out. Yes basically the player that played in the championship last season

I shall look forward with interest to the 1st Sept. Of course its not about pumping money for its sake into transfers, but if any team goes down but has kept a tidy balance, what does that prove or achieve? That we kept to ffp. No europa places available for that.

Im not negative. Am a fan of nigel. Just this knawing feeling in my gut that he isnt being able to play the transfer market as his knowledge of football should allow.

Of course us the fans will never be privy to real reasons why deals aren't getting done. Or as I allude to often, why they are allowed to drag on. If Cambiasso was 28 I could see why we hang on to his every word.. hoping. But he is 34.

Anyway I must be patient like everybody else.

if he was 28 he wouldn't even have consider us to be honest

Highly concerned over the well being of numerous posters on this thread come 1st September.

I can not see the point getting so worked up about something the average fan can do very little about.

The 'problem' is that it has only delivered two ( arguably three with Upson) first-team players in the four months since we won promotion. For a small squad stepping up a level, that just isn't enough quality. The next week or so needs to be extremely productive.

The problem is we have someone who isn't football minded doing the transfers, he's completely money minded and has orders to be tighter than a duck's arse....

Everything is just too slow. Wages this, wages that if we have a bloody wage structure at Premier League level then quite frankly that's one massive joke. How are we meant to compete with other clubs, attract good players & look forward if we are branding around a silly wage cap.

Players like Fanni, Cambiasso, Campbell etc... will not come here if we don't meet their demands, and what do we expect from them, it's hardly a surprise to be honest. It's an insult to them players tbh, and shows little ambition from ourselves.

All we can hope for is if we delve into the not so big leagues, or pluck out some talent like we've done in Mahrez & Knockaert. If we want high quality names like Fanni & Cambiasso give them what they want, stop pissing about, or it will drag and drag and by the end of it, you've just wasted weeks of negotiating as they end up elsewhere.

If we continue to go down that road, it will actually end up in panic buying, or we won't sign anybody at all.

Let's do a Sven

Or a QPR 2012/13 (something that actually the Cambiasso deal has a tinge of)

They were both a success.

We've got a plan under Pearson, it's proved extremely successful, why throw it out of the window just because agents are whoring the average (Campbell) or over-age (Cambiasso) players around to other clubs

I'll reserve judgement until the window is shut, however....

As it stands now regardless of missed targets/agents messing us about/players asking for too much money our current situation is that with a handful of injuries to key players we are struggling to field a team of sufficent quality to compete at this level consistently.

A couple more injuries and we're looking at something like the team that faced Shrewsbury last night.

With the momentum from last season and the supposed funds & preparation time available since May, to be in this position with less than a week to go before the window shuts is pretty shocking. I'm a big fan of Nigel but if no significant additions are made then i'm afraid Pearson, Robinson et al need to be held to task & explain to the owners & fans exactly why this is the case.

Concerned but not panicking yet - let's see...

We should all be concerned. Two more injuries in any position and we are looking at a team similar to the one that turned out last night. The window has been open since May, Nigel Pearson likes to do his business early that blatantly has not happened.

Something or someone has happened and we are not spending or getting players in? Nigel Pearson was very angry last night nearly blew a fuze when the transfer window was mentioned all is not well i fear.

Like it or lump it we are now in the premier league teams know this you have to spend money big money at that. If we don't, we will be struggling to stay in the league. On last nights showing we need at least four to five new players just to bulk up the squad.

I fear though we may only get at the most one or two? I pray I am wrong.

Get rid of Robinson he is complete waste of space. and he could cost us ore prem place. His tactics in this window are pathetic. Our squad is pitiful and short of quality.I believe the 1st team can compete if fit but their not.Every interview NP gives his states the importance of adding players and that message is not for the fans but for Robinson and the board.

There's nothing quite like an over reaction is there.

I think we should all reserve judgement until midnight on Monday when the window is shut. If a deal is possible and in the best interest of the club, then I'm sure Robinson would agree to it. Whilst we are a Premiership team with wealthy owners and money, people will ALWAYS try and rip us off for every deal we try and do, that's owners, managers, players and their agents.

If any of these people have absurd demands at any point in the negotiations then Robinson will say no, and I'm happy with that. We need 3/4 players and I'm confident we will get them. They may not be our first choice options but they will have been identified by Pearson and our scouting network, but most importantly they'll be players who want to play for us.

Posted

Many managers have came out in the press and said how difficult this transfer window has been. This could be down to the fact that every club wants to get the most money for their best players?

Therefore managers like Pearson who have tried to get business done early at a reasonable price haven't been able to. So what people may refer to as 'panic buys' in the final week of window are probably deals that we tried to make happen at the start of the window but couldn't.
