Leicesterpool Posted 16 January 2015 Posted 16 January 2015 Disappointing but however if he was being too greedy then sod him, we get somebody better and cheaper than him.
NewburyFox Posted 16 January 2015 Posted 16 January 2015 I suspect it would have had more to do with the contract length rather than his wages. Given his age, if I was Leicester I would've offered him an 18 month deal with another 12 months if he hit, say 15 league appearances next season. Offering him a straight 2 1/2 year deal given that he'll be 32 at the end of this month and 34 by the end of the contract could leave us with a useless player on wages we can't shift. This is purely speculation on my part of course, but maybe, like Dyer, he would prefer the security of a guaranteed longer contract in the MLS.

Webbo Posted 16 January 2015 Posted 16 January 2015 There are two kinds of people you should never trust. 1) Any person who reads tabloids for anything other than a cheap laugh. 2) Any person in a public house telling you facts or giving you advise, after a few alcoholic beverages, having just read a tabloid. Or maybe not.
Vicki Vixen Posted 16 January 2015 Posted 16 January 2015 Watched the Dons Milton Keynes a few times this season when Leicester haven't been playing, he's a real talent. Still very raw and decision making isn't there yet but bags of potential and he's a big lad.
MIAMI_FOX Posted 16 January 2015 Posted 16 January 2015 Oh well. No sleep lost over this. Get a quality defender in now
J.Lisemore Posted 16 January 2015 Posted 16 January 2015 Won't lose any sleep over this, plenty more fish and all that. Maloney would have been a decent option to have at this level though.
Fox seen in Norwich Posted 16 January 2015 Posted 16 January 2015 He might come crawling towards the end of January
ALC Fox Posted 17 January 2015 Posted 17 January 2015 I'm a bit disappointed that this deal fell through. He's clearly looking for one last big payday. It's a shame because he would have offered us strength in depth and that bit of Premier League experience a lot of our current players lack. I realise he wouldn't have been a marquee signing by any stretch of the imagination, but he is capable of performing at this level. £750,000 is peanuts to any Premier League team as well, even Burnley.
TheLittleBigMan Posted 17 January 2015 Posted 17 January 2015 Just glad we made a decision early doors. Not bothered why he didn't sign as it seems we have plenty of other targets which we can now work on. Pleased with the clubs activity so far in this difficult window. Up the foxes.
MGLCFC Posted 17 January 2015 Posted 17 January 2015 If he's here for the money and final pay out then I'm somewhat relieved he's not coming. He's been away from the Prem for nearly 2 years and this league is probably more demanding now, whilst he's 2 year older and played little football this year, with a history of injuries. I think he may have added something a little different, but for me there are alternatives out there. I suppose the counter argument is that NP was wanting to add some experience and Maloney fitted the bill and had been involved in a relegation battle previously. Whilst he may have been a useful acquisition, with a fully fit squad I think he'd have only played a minor role. Not sure trying to do business with Wigan will ever be successful.
Eastwellfox Posted 17 January 2015 Posted 17 January 2015 He looks to much like Richie Wellens for me. !
SlaneyLCFC Posted 17 January 2015 Posted 17 January 2015 Reported this morning on bbc that he is close to returning to Celtic
Spanner73 Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 Can't think of Any creative midfielders that have been linked with us apart from Maloney ? There never seems any kind of urgency with Pearson does there
Tuna Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 Deal Dead, close thread. 32 years old and not in the team in the second worst team in the championship. What were we thinking?
dannythefox Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 Looks like had a better in mind going to Chicago fair play to Pearson not being held to ransom.
The Railway Man Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 Shite anyway and 32 years old. We've got far better than him.
lcfcsnow Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 Shite anyway and 32 years old. We've got far better than him. Well, the sad fact is we haven't, hence David Nugent being a virtual ever present.
The Railway Man Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 Well, the sad fact is we haven't, hence David Nugent being a virtual ever present. There is no recent form out there to suggest Maloney is currently a better option than Nugent. (and I don't rate Nugent)
Kitchandro Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 Maloney isn't a striker, why compare him with Nugent? Of course we have better midfielders than Maloney.
Bert Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 Maloney isn't a striker, why compare him with Nugent? Of course we have better midfielders than Maloney. Because Nugent hasn't played centre forward all season?
Kitchandro Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 Because Nugent hasn't played centre forward all season? But he's a striker.
