TOMBlcfc Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 okazaki top 5 goals utube- he clearly states he is a midfielderHe used to play predominantly LM but for the past two seasons he's played upfront for Mainz and had a lot of success
Jacnah Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 We could have Messi up top but he'll be feeding off SImpson, Wasyl, Morgan and Konchesky kicking it over his head for 90 minutes. this made me laugh out loud its so true.........however, there is another consideration and that is that most of the time the off the ball running by the strikers is not great. Its often the case that defenders have nobody making them selves available It wont be the be all and end all, but better quality strikers will make space for themselves
fuchsntf Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 Our three record signings (if this comes off) Ulloa, Kramaric and Okazaki can't all play in the same XI. Seems a bit strange. We need to upgrade every single position on the pitch realistically and spending £20m+ on forwards in January seems a bit foolish. pray tell, why not !! Krameric, Ulloa up front with Okazaki playing just behind..
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 Never heard of him but I will leave the judgement to our trusted glorious leaders

chapero82 Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 Sky have just said that talks have stalled on the transfer fee
Nick Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 If we want him in this window (And we do) we will be held to ransom sadly - but that's the game. We may well have to break the transfer record again if we want him.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 Can't wait to hear the racist chant for him that our fans will inevitably come up with when he signs...
Nick Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 Can't wait to hear the racist chant for him that our fans will inevitably come up with when he signs... That's a depressing thought.
johnny the fox Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 Can't wait to hear the racist chant for him that our fans will inevitably come up with when he signs... What rhymes with slope head?
Scotch Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 pray tell, why not !! Krameric, Ulloa up front with Okazaki playing just behind.. That is definitely a possibility. Our biggest win of the season has came playing that formation so it's hard to argue with it. However, you have to look at how that impacts the rest of the team..... Firstly,it puts 3 in the centre of the park, which isn't a bad thing as we've been over-run their previously. Maybe having 3 there would mean better ball retention. Although with only 5 CMs in the team just now,we would probably have to sign another player for that position to cover us. Secondly, playing that formation would render our wide players useless. Albrighton, knockhaert,Lawrence, Mahrez (when he comes back) and Schlupp would automatically find their place in the team gone. Having said that, it could possibly mean a move to LB for Schlupp which would mean we may not sign a LB,which seems to be a position we have struggled to find players for. But I would worry where Mahrez (our best player this season) would fit into that. Definitely something to think about. I reckon that this would depend on who is available to sign. If we can't find a LB or LM, I would go for it, if we can, I would stay with 442/4231.
kingfox Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 Stop pissing about with him and get some fvckin defenders.
whoareyaaa Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 from Sky: SHINJI MOVE STALLS Sky Sources understand a deal to bring Shinji Okazaki from the Bundasliga club Mainz to Leicester City have stalled. As we understand it, the feeling at Leicester is that the transfer fee is too high. Reports suggested this morning that Mainz are looking for £10million.
Spanner73 Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 Difficult one now if he's the only target we have for a striker , do you pay over and have a better prospect of staying up or risk losing him and Your chances of staying in the league become quite bleak ?
fuchsntf Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 They have stalled because the player, stated the Asian cup is his priority. Neither the German Mainz-sport- press, local papers or Mainz05 have spoke over the issue for quite a few days. Mainz05 own site has no active info on anything to do with transfers. The club manager has been interviewed a few times over these last few days, no mention of Okazaki. Sushi has been more of the topic.
Nick Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 You receive the dry bumming with a smile and say thank you, thus giving yourself a chance to stay in the League.
Snik-Snok Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 I've been to a couple of J League games whilst visiting Japan, and one of them was Yamagata Montedio vs Shimizu S-Pulse about 5 years ago. Okazaki was playing for S-Pulse that day, and as he was the only player of any note (as by then he'd already played for the national team), I kept an eye on him. He was ok, but didn't stand out. Incidentally, the other game I saw was Urawa vs Niigata, and Yuki Abe was playing for Urawa, about a year before he joined us. Okazaki was playing up front when I saw him, but when he plays for the national team he often plays out wide in a 433 i.e. at the World Cup he was playing wide. I'm sure sure what system Japan play now, or what position Okazaki plays, now that Aguerre has taken over. I like to keep an eye on Japanese football, and used to watch the J-League highlights when they were on Eurosport, until they stopped showing them a couple of years ago. When he went to Stuttgart, he struggled (as anyone that watches the Bundesliga highlights on ITV 3, or is it 4?, would have seen). He looked low on confidence and looked a bit out of his depth. However, he joined Mainz (on a free I think, after Stuttgart released him), and since then, he's looked a different player. Looks like he's adapted to the league and now looks a far better player. He's not really an out and out striker, he's more versatile and is a hard worker. Maybe a similar style player to Nugent, but with a better goal-scoring instinct. I hope we sign him, although the prices being quoted are well over the top. I'd say about £4-5m would be a fairer price. He's got a good goal record for Japan, but you need to bear in mind that a lot of their games are against very poor teams in the Asian region. Another Japanese player I've been impressed with is Inui at Eintracht Frankfurt, but he's maybe a bit too small for the Premier League.

Runs for ever, chased everything, blunders his way to as many goals as he actually gets through skill, bags of effort, very athletic. Not the fastest or the strongest but a complete metronome. Park Ji Sung was the midfield equivalent.
Monk Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 Guardian saying his agent says there has been no change since the £8m bid was rejected. Looks dead in the water to me I can't see us signing two £10m strikers in tha jan window.
Bamba's Babes Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 Basically nobody has Scooby Doo. Love/Hate transfer windows.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 Maybe Pearson agrees that Ulloa isn't good enough and has made an error, a very costly one. These signings should have been made in the summer maybe then we'd have stood half a chance. Our leading goal scorer! He was one of two decent players that Pearson brought in. He just doesn't get enough service, and that is a massive problem within our current squad.
