Karljohn Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 5m when they paid 10m for that donkey Brown Ideme? I don't think so Mr Pulis.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Never sell to a relegation rival he is bound to score against us, and that could be the difference to us staying up or going down That's just superstitious nonsense. Why is he "bound" to score against us?
Bakey Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 On the face of it it sounds like good business for a player that is both technically limited and at his peak in terms of physical shape. With his main assets being his pace and stamina, at 28 you expect them to start tailing off over the next couple of years which will mean we'll struggle to get a fee of similar proportions later on. Having said all of that, whilst £5m seems a lot, when you contextualise it, actually it seems relatively cheap given that it was rumoured that we were being quoted £12-8m for Deeney and McGoldrick, McCormack went for £11m, Ulloa £8m, Rhodes £8m, Dwight Gayle £5m, and Assombalonga £5.5m, none of which had kicked a ball in the Premier League let alone scored a goal. On goal scoring records in the Championship alone, Vardy's performance last season was comparable yet his value based upon this report is at the lower end of the scale for a player who despite not shining in the PL hasn't exactly been an embarrassment. I know that there's an argument that the majority of the above are younger and subsequently you are buying potential, but I really do think if Vardy was to move on we should be looking for a higher fee especially as there is no desperate need to sell. That's a very good point. On Vardy's potential and proven ability in the championship 5m seems very cheap!
Burmesefox Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 People suggested he wasnt good enough for the Championship when we first signed him. He proved his doubters wrong. Premier league defences are a different level. Give the lad a chance to learn and grow into a premier league player. I think he is good enough and he will come good for us whether it be this season or next season in the prem when we survive. If we were in dire straights financially id sell in a heart beat but for me id reject it and keep him. spot on.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Wow. From people talking about England call ups (overrated) to people saying he now isn't good enough for the Premier League (underrated). Short-term memories aplenty here. Watch a video of his goals last season back and then tell me that he can't finish, wasn't too good for The Championship and doesn't have what's required to make it in The Premier League...

That can work in your favour though. Vardy has played in the Premier League and has unfortunately, largely looked out of his depth. That can't be said for the likes of Rhodes, Assombalonga etc... If this was in the summer I'd have laughed off £5mil, but a failure to perform naturally lowers his value. At his age you're going to have to question if he'll be much use to us in the long term. This, along with the potential of Okazaki being lined up for only £3mil more than we'd get, is why I'd probably sell.
scinnell Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Nugent is terrible guys, anyone who thinks he is a good striker in the Prem needs their head testing.
thybluefox Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Don't forget this is a player who's only played 2 seasons at a good level since he was plucked from (almost) non-league. For him to require a season to get used to the Premier League isn't surprising. He has the pace, and he can finish, if we sell him now, no matter what the price tag, we'll be regretting it in 12 months.
scinnell Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Vardy is easier superior to Nugent, has a greater impact on games.
phillo Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 We've put a 5 million on wood so vardy has got to be worth more
Mike Oxlong Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Not for sale according to Nigel as reported on Sky Sports Regional Paper Talk
Danno Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Vardy is easier superior to Nugent, has a greater impact on games. What like the one game he had any sort of impact which was against united.
Fox92 Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Nugent is terrible guys, anyone who thinks he is a good striker in the Prem needs their head testing. His link up play is great though. He plays in the hole being at times so recognize he isn't always playing as the striker. He also played a massive part in Vardy's form last season. Nugent seemed to have "one of those days" against Villa but other than that his recent form has been good. I think people are harsh on Nugent at times.

I think people are harsh on Nugent at times. This 1,000,000,000 times. I think people expecting Nugent to be an outright goalscorer need their "head checking". Nugent ( obviously ) isn't a natural goal scorer. He is more use to us behind a "natural" goal scorer, his link up play against Villa was decent. RE Vardy. £5m is a lot of money. I'm of the opinion that i'd want him playing for us, not against us.
SecretPro Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Think Nugent has the edge on Vardy at the minute purely for his link-up play and how he uses the ball. All I've seen from Vardy in recent weeks is stupid slide tackles, get ball, run, give it away and the dodgiest first touch going. He's better than this, just needs to sort himself out.
coolhandfox Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Sometimes you have to balacne books, trust in NP!
Kitchandro Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Is this a joke because of the retards who would actually think this on here or are you serious? Nugent's 10x the player Vardy is and has been a lot more influential whenever we've played well this season than him too. He's missed some sitters but we're a lot better with him in the side than Vardy who, bar the Man U match, has been completely ****ing useless. Issue with this forum is that if somebody's hated by a large amount of people and that player goes on a run of matches where they're great in them all, everybody will shut up but be waiting for them to make the tiniest of mistakes or to have a poor match at which point they're the worst player on the team again and needs to be dropped. Doesn't apply to Vardy yet apparently but does whenever Nugent plays poorly. Wow, some people are so thick on here. Seriously, some people need to take a good look at themselves. Literally no one thought Nugent was any good up until the new year. Everyone accepted Vardy had been the better player over the last 1 and half seasons. My, how opinions change after 4 matches
Dan Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Nugent went from being a decent link up player with little goal threat, to absolutely crap, now he seems to have gone back to being a decent link up player. If you viewed Nugent as an attacking midfielder you appreciate him more.
LCCFox96 Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 He isn't getting any quicker. He isn't 34 mate. Not that needs to be much quicker to burn most defenders for pace anyway. Vardy can still improve as a player, he is only 27. He also has the work rate and desire to do it.

Matt Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Rejected. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/551568/Liverpool-Spurs-Saido-Berahino-Leicester-City-Jamie-Vardy
whoareyaaa Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 I would keep him tbh, 5m is a good offer but I think he still has room for improvement and his pace and workrate is always good, I would give him another season.
BlueJoe Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 SELL SELL SELL!!! I really rate Vardy and he may not be clear goalscorer but very few teams have someone in their squad that can case the kind of nuisance he can. HOWEVER he is 27 we paid only 1m so it makes business sense and if we sell him to WBA it looks like they will let Berahino go to the 'Pool. Don't know about you but I'd rather be watching Vardy spurn chances for West Brom than a relegation rival having an in form, up and coming young talent banging them in each week!!! And when we play them he wont cause us any problems if Was and Wes scare the shit out of him!!!
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Don't sell! As much as no one wants to imagine it, we do need a backup plan if the worst happens and we go down. I would say Kramaric is a dead cert to leave and possibly Ulloa if he gets a few more before the end of the season. Vardy and Nuge might end up being our leading line again!
