Vardy a wanted man.

All you saying "we don't need the money" is a load of bollucks! It's £5million quid, for anybody thats a large amount of money! We don't have the spendings of UTD remember!

Unless all of you are billionaires I think we need to remember the sum of money being offered for an average player.

I'd still keep him but surely the board would be tempted?

No sell. Don't need the money. Needs to regain his confidence and he'll be useful.

But we can't have 6 or 7 happy strikers.  We won't keep/buy Ulloa, Nugent, Vardy, Wood, Kramaric, Okazaki.  Someone or two have to go or not be bought.

On the face of it it sounds like good business for a player that is both technically limited and at his peak in terms of physical shape. With his main assets being his pace and stamina, at 28 you expect them to start tailing off over the next couple of years which will mean we'll struggle to get a fee of similar proportions later on.

Having said all of that, whilst £5m seems a lot, when you contextualise it, actually it seems relatively cheap given that it was rumoured that we were being quoted £12-8m for Deeney and McGoldrick, McCormack went for £11m, Ulloa £8m, Rhodes £8m, Dwight Gayle £5m, and Assombalonga £5.5m, none of which had kicked a ball in the Premier League let alone scored a goal. On goal scoring records in the Championship alone, Vardy's performance last season was comparable yet his value based upon this report is at the lower end of the scale for a player who despite not shining in the PL hasn't exactly been an embarrassment.

I know that there's an argument that the majority of the above are younger and subsequently you are buying potential, but I really do think if Vardy was to move on we should be looking for a higher fee especially as there is no desperate need to sell.

If we were selling to a club not competing against us for survival then I'd sell without hesitation, but it could come back to bite us if we were to sell to WBA. No complaints with the value though.

People making out Vardy has only been effective in one match because it's the only one he's scored in lol

I think the rimming Nugent is getting from some sums up how Foxes Talk is plagued by short-termism.

He lacks goals at this level, but he has almost every other attribute to be a top top forward. £5mil is an insult for a premier league striker these days. Have to admit when he first came to us, he looked like a poor signing, but ever since I've seen he's got enough even this season to run riot in the PL. We would be stupid to sell him

Is this a joke because of the retards who would actually think this on here or are you serious? Nugent's 10x the player Vardy is and has been a lot more influential whenever we've played well this season than him too. He's missed some sitters but we're a lot better with him in the side than Vardy who, bar the Man U match, has been completely ****ing useless. Issue with this forum is that if somebody's hated by a large amount of people and that player goes on a run of matches where they're great in them all, everybody will shut up but be waiting for them to make the tiniest of mistakes or to have a poor match at which point they're the worst player on the team again and needs to be dropped. Doesn't apply to Vardy yet apparently but does whenever Nugent plays poorly.

Very good post. Similar to the Hume Fryatt situation. Everybody loved Hume (Vardy) for his workrate when Fryatt (Nuge) was the better player. This doesn't mean I don't think Vardy is good, his game will develop and he will learn to become more intelligent and develop his finishing.

I've already had my say on this but regardless of whether each and every poster on here would or wouldn't  sanction a sale if a £5mil offer was made some of the criticism of Vardy has been way over the top.

My main fear is selling to a relegation rival, if his contribution kept them up and sent us down you would be calling Nigel all day long for selling to them

Such a great player for causing the opposition problems, 5 million is a nice offer but I still don't think we've utilised him enough this season. Personally Id like to see him played as an attacking left winger see what he could do

If vardy is out of his depth why would pullis want him?

Because he has the pace for long ball footy that pullis likes to play

Love watching Vardy, his commitment and effort cant be faulted. BUt...

Is he Premier league standard? at this stage i would say, no.

If we buy in 2 more strikers, he is going to slip to probably 5th choice, will he be happy with that? i wouldnt think so and in fairness to him, if a decent offer (and 5 mill seems decent) comes in, he and we would be silly not to take it.

If he goes, he will leave us with some wonderful memories and my thanks for 13/14 and the Man utd game.

I don't think Pearson will even entertain the idea of selling him. Especially to West Brom. Chris Wood's available, though. And he knows the club...

Er, no.  Nugent is one of those players that are excellent in the Championship but not good enough in the Premier. I am sure we could all come with a list of strikers that have scored for fun the Championship and not done it at a higher level. Moreover Nugent has tried and failed in the PL before.

Vardy however is in his first year of playing in the PL, and we all know how he improved in his second year in the Championship, and offers pace in abundance which will always trouble defenders. He deserves to be persevered with until next season at least.

Did you not see the misses that Nugent made at the weekend? Reason enough to understand why Pearson is looking to bring in more quality in the striking positions than we currently have. Nugent and Wood are on their way out.

If you can's see we are a better side with Nugent in the side then I'm not sure what games you have been watching. We make more clear cut chances with a Nugent/Ulloa partnership than a Vardy/Ulloa pairing.

Vardy and Nugent are totally different players, Nugent is having a great spell of form as are City and Vardy just can't seem to get going but i would still keep him as we all know his form will return....

Misses???? I'm sure u will find he missed just the one clear chance, vary is a headless chicken apart from wood he would b the first foward I'd get rid of and at 5 million b rude not too

Just talk at this stage I know, but if Vardy were to move on, I'd be sad to see him go. Over recent years when players have moved on I've generally shrugged and not given it a second thought. When Dyer departed in the summer I was certainly appreciative of his 6 years at the club, though it was time for him to move on. Vardy has played a big part in helping us reach the Premiership and there's definite affinity between him and the club. Would be missed.

People suggested he wasnt good enough for the Championship when we first signed him. He proved his doubters wrong. Premier league defences are a different level. Give the lad a chance to learn and grow into a premier league player. I think he is good enough and he will come good for us whether it be this season or next season in the prem when we survive. If we were in dire straights financially id sell in a heart beat but for me id reject it and keep him.
