Kitchandro Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 I'm not sure we did, Everton had to chuck everything at it. We continued to hit on the break as we'd done most of the game. Of course we did. Hitting them on the break the odd time isn't playing attacking football. We were truly attacking when we were behind and at 1-1, that is what we failed to do at 0-0 and 2-1.
Osavo Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 Just me that thinks Schwarzer's reactions were slow for both goals? Cannot see why on earth he is considered a better option than Hamer. First two substitutes were great choices by Pearson, we are so much better when we take the game to the opposition - Vardy was far more energetic than the last couple of months when he came on and Nugent worked really hard and got a poacher's goal. Cambiasso was class once again, absolutely superb passing ranger and literally controls everything in the middle. We stopped the threat of Baines and Coleman brilliantly and despite my thoughts on Morgan he was decent today. Huth looks really solid but a back line of just him and Upson would be way too slow imo. Overall a good result that we all would have taken before kick off but in the end a frustrating one due to the chances that we missed. Everton were there for the taking.
JAPANFOX1 Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 Why, because we were unlucky it went through Huth's legs and off Upson's head? I'd say that was unlucky. Also, a point is not the same as no points. It's a point. Luck has nothing to do with anything because it does not exist.. A point in the greater scheme and fate of our season does not change the rather grim picture - we are going down, we are still bottom and we are still being mismanaged at crucial times in games (i.e. between minute 0 and minute 96).
MPH Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 Spirited performance and in most other situations I'd be pleased with the point.
gazzer Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 would be happier with draws away if we could win our home games against bottom half teams
the messenger Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 Nearly there so frustrating. It is clear though Mahrez is not putting in a full shift and schlupp needs dropping because it can't hit barn a door from 6 yards. Cambiasso and James class in midfield.
john ridley Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 I'm sure on the Everton forum's they'll be pissed off they didn't batter us .A points not too bad but too little too late .
BlueSi13 Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 Thought Pearson tried everything to lose the match. Wrong formation, negative tactics. He has to go. Tedious.
AKCJ Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 So you agree he actually started with the wrong tactics then? No, we played the same 5-2-3 all game. Mahrez and Schlupp didn't take their chance today. But you're not telling me that you foresaw that. Nobody argued that Nuge and Vardy should play in front of Mahrez and Schlupp.
Guest Bilo Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 Yet when through on goal he miscontrolled the ball, then laughed about it. Today we saw the best and very worst of David Nugent. The obvious one for me is we can't play Kramaric up top on his own. Needs help. Whether that's Nugent Vardy or Ulloa I really don't care. We don't need 3 centre halves. Upson was dreadful I suspect it's two of those three.
SheffieldFox Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 Changed the game when he took Cambiasso off. He was running the game, and it took the momentum away from us.
Tom's Pasta Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 Yes but WE scored. Lukaku still had loads of chances when we tried to defend. The difference, the only difference, is that when WE attacked, WE looked like scoring, and did. It's not all about what they do, WE need to make things happen and WE need to score goals. Why is this so hard for people to understand? Because this is incredibly narrow minded, do you want us to go to man city and play 3 strikers? We'd be absolutely taken apart with such a lack of midfield
Guest seanfox778 Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 So gutting! A win would've been epic! Played quite well and it gives us a bit of hope for the remaining games. Need to start winning soon though, hopefully we can.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 Cambiasso gave the hands to Pearson to indicate he was flagging and needed to come off. If that is true then fair enough. Even so put too much pressure on ourselves and didn't keep ball up front
Fox92 Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 Yet when through on goal he miscontrolled the ball, then laughed about it. Today we saw the best and very worst of David Nugent. The obvious one for me is we can't play Kramaric up top on his own. Needs help. Whether that's Nugent Vardy or Ulloa I really don't care. We don't need 3 centre halves. Upson was dreadful Agree totally. Feel for Kramaric a bit because he obviously has the quality but he didn't join to play up front alone. He needs support.
dayday Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 We had to go for it, we were ridiculously open though when we did. That's why Liam Moore would be a better option than Upson,he has the pace to cover
Kitchandro Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 Point being it's not like chances weren't there. Schlupp had 2 chances I can't remember any others at 0-0. I can't remember us cutting them open at 0-0, I can't remember Kramaric having a decent chance at 0-0. If we were making the most of our attack we would have created muchn more.
Dickov22 Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 We had to go for it, we were ridiculously open though when we did. Agree and I don't know how, with three centre halves in our team.
AKCJ Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 Thought Pearson tried everything to lose the match. Wrong formation, negative tactics. He has to go. Someone ban this child.
Leicesterpool Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 Damn so close and so unlucky, tactics Nigel did get it spot on. But I'm not sure If a point is a good enough at the moment. Terrific effort and let's move on to the next game as soon as possible.
Fox92 Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 No, we played the same 5-2-3 all game. Mahrez and Schlupp didn't take their chance today. But you're not telling me that you foresaw that. Nobody argued that Nuge and Vardy should play in front of Mahrez and Schlupp. No we didn't. You can see the way we're set up Kramaric is alone (and needs support ffs). It's a 541, don't kid yourself.
Guest Bilo Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 Because this is incredibly narrow minded, do you want us to go to man city and play 3 strikers? We'd be absolutely taken apart with such a lack of midfield A 4-3-3 would offer a bit of flexibility, with one of the strikers dropping back to support when needed. Nugent, to his credit, defended willingly when called upon to do so.
shailen Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 Morgan has come under a lot of criticism recently, but today he was fantastic. The number of blocks and interceptions he made, especially the one leading up to our first goal. Cambiasso was unbelievable today, the speediness of thought is unreal. Nugent and Vardy were excellent as well.
LanguedocFox Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 At this stage of the season and with Man City next time, a point today is the same as no points....... three points thrown away and now a proud 18 from 26 games..... This results gives Pearson the "we were unlucky" out card yet again ....... I'm sorry, but I wish people like you would fvck off. We played well today, with very few weak spots. I watched most of yesterday's games, and I can tell you, we are miles better than QPR, Burnley, Villa, Sunderland, and Hull. We are going to stay up if we play like that all season.
