Crinklyfox Posted 4 March 2015 Posted 4 March 2015 Congratulations. Make the most of being able to sleep when you like now, once you have the baby at home you'll be sleeping when they want, not when you want. There will be hassles and worries but it will all be worthwhile. Being a parent is great.

Alf Bentley Posted 4 March 2015 Posted 4 March 2015 Congratulations. The one thing that is predictable is the unpredictability. Our daughter started sleeping through the night from about 6 weeks. On the other hand, she couldn't be arsed to start walking until she was 2yrs 7mths. A friend said her elder daughter barely slept at all during her first year....whereas her younger daughter barely woke up! If I had to give 1 piece of advice (and I do), it would be to start identifying and schmoozing potential babysitters ASAP. Parenthood is very tough on relationships. We're only just about still together, and I suspect we're in a minority among parents with children our daughter's age. It's all too easy to focus on the child, to find time for work and essential chores, but to neglect your relationship. You need to continue to be a non-parent, as well as a parent, if that makes sense. Pompous lecture over! Enjoy it! Whatever the hassles and restrictions that come with it, it's worth it for the joy and satisfaction.....and you'll be a in a warm glow for months, if not a few years, anyway!
