Callabinho Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 I really fear for the lad once you've bust your knees that's it.
Manwell Pablo Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 Think it's a given James will be out for the rest of the season but hopefully he'll be back for the start of next season. Gutted for the lad and hope it turns out better than everyone fears. On the plus side, at least midweek Pearson said King was close to a return and should be available for the trip to Sunderland so at least we aren't too thin on the ground for the final two fixtures. if its acl he will be out till 2016
iancognito Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 Stringer said he did both of he knees whilst at United, so could be a serious, serious injury. Potentially career threatening. Will force us to dip in the transfer market for a new midfielder at least over summer ACLs are rarely career ending these days, hopefully back within 6 months but he knew what he'd done as soon as he went down because the physios didn't even have to examine him, he told them straight away.
Grewks Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 He did manage a wave to the crowd. I don't think he would have done that if it was super serious for two reasons. 1. He'd have been too in shock if a potential career ender had happened. 2. He'd been In too much pain to worry about appreciating the crowds concern. Ill put my neck on the line and say he'll be fully fit for August's opening fixture. 3. He has had the injury before...knows it may be painful but is also logical enough to realise it is not life threatening..... Also a lot of players make some sort of signal when on stretchers to let their family know they're ok.
Larry_LCFC Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 He clapped the fans as he was stretchered off. Lets just hope it wasn't a thanks for everything sort of clap. Want to see him back asap. Good luck Matty.

Already tried to explain this one. A lot of players usually to it as a signal to the fans/family/friends to let them know that they are 'ok'.

Ill put my neck on the line and say he'll be fully fit for August's opening fixture. I've done my ACL whilst playing. It was painful but not so painful that I wasn't able to wave to the crowd had there been one there. I had to be helped off (no stretchers on Sunday mornings!). The worst bit was hearing the ligament tear! It took me 16 months to fully recover. It took two operations on the NHS and physio once a week for sometime after that. Matty James is considerably fitter than I was. He will have the very best treatment available to him. If it is an ACL, 6-9 months for an elite football player. 12 months to get back to his best.
Babylon Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 Clapped for a couple of seconds... Means feck all. The lad was in bloody agony quite clearly.

fuchsntf Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 Well that's two cm's we need next year minimum then. We could put big, smooth, unplayable, unstopable, our very own Marcin Wasy in the slot. That would then produce the new little and large show, pairing him withour little dynamite Cambiasso. A team to go boldly.....

ACLs obviously hurt but not as much as you expect the amount of initial pain is not directly in correlation with recovery time. A slight fracture of the leg would be much more painful initially but the recovery time would be much less for example.
les-tah Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 I'm fairly confident it's not career ending. Very rare for injurys these days to do that unless it's a serious chronic problem that has been eating away at someone for a while. These guys get the best medics and doctors in the country.
st albans fox Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 This will force Nigel's hand to sort out an 'enforcer' type midfielder - something we've needed all season. Matty could miss the whole of the next campaign. Let's hope he's back before Xmas but we need to plan in case he isn't.
Manchesterred Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 Just spoke to him, he's going for a scan early next week. Surgery at the back end of next week and then it will be a long road to recovery 6-9 months rehab.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 Praying for a speedy recovery. He's such a likable bloke, and a valuable member of the squad
Marie84 Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 Those saying about didn't look in that much pain coz he clapped... Prob something to do with the pain relief he was given ( pic taken off twitter ) Also watching on sky I think he's dislocated his knee looked like he was in a lot of pain and looked quite white. It's a shame but he will be out for the rest of the season but hoping and wishing him a speedy and full recovery for next season Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ScouseFox Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 He looked in more pain that I've ever seen live since collymore. Wasyl weirdly didn't look too concerned so it can't have been a visibly terrible injury so must be a ligament etc. James looked ruined. Gutted for him.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 Absolutely gutted for Matty James - a future captain of this club in my opinion. A quietly spoken bloke who leads by example and always gives his all - plus a hugely underrated footballer given his understated style of play. These sort of all-action players often get these types of injuries. We will miss him and can only hope he recovers as soon as he can - I certainly pray its not a career ender as I am looking forward to seeing him become a legend and future captain.
Guest ttfn Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 It's not 1992 any more. Bad knee injuries can and often do take it out of players but it's rare you get a "career ender" any more. Hope he's ok.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Looked nasty. Given his previous problems can only hope he comes back at some point.
GingerrrFox Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Matty to my knowledge hasn't had an ACL injury before. He had a severe ankle injury when he was on loan to Preston. Then after the ankle injury he came back to soon for Man Utd reserves and suffered a knee injury but it definitely wasn't an ACL rupture. He's looking at anywhere between 8-12 months out. Even though ACL injuries aren't usually career ending these days he's unlikely to have the same dynamism as before. Fortunately for him he's at what I believe to be the best club for Sport Science in the country so he's in safe hands for rehab once he's had the operation.
EnglishOxide Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Just spoke to him, he's going for a scan early next week. Surgery at the back end of next week and then it will be a long road to recovery 6-9 months rehab. Thanks for the heads up! (I'm going on the assumption that you know him from United)
