Pearson also confirmed David Nugent will miss Saturday's trip to face Sunderland after a recurrence of a calf injury, but midfielder Andy King is fit again after a hamstring injury.

Shame about that injury - unbelievable bad luck, that was. It looked so harmless at first sight and now he'll sadly be missed for at least half a year... :(

Get well soon again, Matty James!

Leicester City midfielder Andy King is back in the reckoning for the Barclays Premier League trip to Sunderland on Saturday, according to manager Nigel Pearson.

The Wales international has missed the last two of the Foxes’ fixtures after picking up a calf injury in the defeat to champions Chelsea at the end of April.

King’s return will be welcoming news to the City boss after midfielder Matty James' rehabilitation period following his anterior cruciate ligament injury was confirmed as being from six to nine months.

Striker David Nugent, meanwhile, remains sidelined due to the calf problem he picked up in the pre-match warmup prior to the 2-0 victory over Swansea City.

“Well obviously there’s the Matty James injury from last week, but that apart, it’s as we were really,” Pearson said. "Andy King comes back into contention, so it’s pretty much one out one in.

“We’ve got a fit squad to choose from and we’ve had that for the vast majority of the season.”

Currently three points above the drop-zone, the Foxes head to the Stadium of Light knowing a win could secure their Premier League status.

Anticipating yet another tough test, Pearson added: “The two games are ones that we have to get the right result for us. The game against Sunderland is a very important game but in the context of the season, it remains very much a similar message. That is that we want it to be in our own hands, but this gives us another opportunity.

“Our efforts in this run have made it a more realistic possibility to stay up. I don’t think I’ll fall into the trap of going into any game thinking the job is done. That’s not the case.”

Hope I'm wrong but I think James will struggle to ever get back fit soon as he's does he gets long injurys wasn't he out for 18 months before he signed for us? Not good for a young lad. Might even need to look at replacing him.

Very cheery post Danny. Hope he doesn't decide to read the good luck messages on this thread to while away the hours!

Clearly, without a preseason, he's going to have a curtailed campaign, even if he does gain his fitness in the new year. fortunately, he is young enough to, in effect, miss a season and we look forward to what could end up a 'new signing' for 2016/2017.
