The Bear Posted 10 February 2016 Posted 10 February 2016 I'm not so sure. Half a season of decent results in the Prem after half a season of terrible results. Hardly screams reliable PL class. He'd still be a gamble for any promoted club never mind any one else, and that's before you take into account the crap he had with the owners and his pitchside antics.
Dan Posted 10 February 2016 Posted 10 February 2016 I've never seen Pearson as a short-term man. You'll reap the rewards with him in the long-term. I said it further up the page but he implemented a lot more here than he will get credit for. Most of the signings and a clear direction of what sort of dressing room he wanted. Ranieri has taken it well forward in terms of tactics, but Pearson got the ball rolling, no matter how you dress it up I can't see how anyone can't see that.
The Bear Posted 10 February 2016 Posted 10 February 2016 Teams in the PL don't have time for long-term projects letting managers build a style or infrastructure. Only the top clubs who are never relegation threatened can afford to do that. If that's what Pearson needs to have his teams be successful then he's only ever going to find that in the Championship. He still sounds the perfect fit for Derby tbh.

I wouldn't go as far as terrible results. IIRC we never lost by more than 2 goals and we were only ever outplayed once (Swansea Away). Most of our defeats were down to individual errors. Pearson then found a system that restricted those individual errors (Most of the errors were at CB so we signed Huth which meant playing 3 CBs, Moore was dropped and Morgan was 100 times better next to Huth and Was) Pearsons antics I would suggest wouldn't be repeated. They came from the frustration of us not getting the points we deserved. He has learnt from his season in the prem and now knows a system that works to win games. At the end of the day his first season as a prem manager we finished 14th regardless of how it happened. I would put money on Pearson doing a better job than Remi Garde at Villa. If Derby were to get Pearson it would be the best decision they could make. He will bring success wherever he goes if he is given time. Pearson could do both the short term solution and long term as he found a way to win games for Leicester in the prem. He is miles to good for the Championship and if any champ team were to get him then it would be a massive coup.
MC Prussian Posted 10 February 2016 Posted 10 February 2016 What's all this about Derby not wanting to get promoted this season after spending more than we did to get top of the PL? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35533154 I thought it's usually the other way around. Somebody's quick to blame the manager. Feel a bit sorry for Clement after those statements. And why would you want to make happenings like these public? They could've agreed on the written statement and done.
Super_horns Posted 10 February 2016 Posted 10 February 2016 So the new manager could lose 5 games in a row seeing Derby slip right out of play-off contention but so long as they played the way as demanded he won't be sacked? Feel this is all covering for some sort of other internal disagreement...
Corky Posted 10 February 2016 Posted 10 February 2016 Backstabbing Lee Johnson has joined Bristol City. Short memory, lost 9 games on the bounce this season at Barnsley, they show faith in him and he does this; did the same a year ago to Oldham after being fairly unremarkable there. Hope they go down and sack him. This is where the likes of the LMA annoy me. As soon as a manager is sacked they are straight on the offensive- "needs time", "building for the future", "unfair decision" etc, yet here we have a situation where a manager had a truly terrible run and was given the chance to turn it around (and did, to be fair) before upping sticks and leaving. I don't hear the LMA appearing to praise Barnsley for staying patient with the manager and giving him the chance to sort the mess out as he buggers off.

If Pearson went to Derby he would be the best manager in the Championship by an absolute country mile, he is one of the top three or four English managers around and I'd say he is within the top twenty managers in the country. If Derby got Pearson it would be a huge coup.
Wymsey Posted 10 February 2016 Posted 10 February 2016 RIP Hopefully that will spur them on to survive. Rotherham, MK Dons and Charlton are a waste of space in this league.

Guest FriendlyRam Posted 10 February 2016 Posted 10 February 2016 Derby fan here I'm one of the few ram fans who want Pearson, he did a fantastic job with you and tbh I can't think of anyone better for this group of players we have, Ince needs a right kick up the a***, I think Pearson would give him that and he'd back to his form last season. Clement had managed to suck the life out of those players, the performances were dreadful, how we got to the top of the league I'll never know, the football was p*** poor and tbh he's probably been the most boring manager we've ever had imo, he came across as a PE teacher, zero charisma and stood on the touchline with hands in pockets and chewing gum, he didn't have a clue what he was doing tbh, and he managed to suck what little atmosphere we have at the Ipro, granted we don't have much of an atmosphere but Clement managed to suck what little their was out of it, that's how bad his football was and how clueless he actually was. Pearson has charisma, balls and a know how ,,, we should have gone for him in the summer, would have saved us millions as well. Oh, and good luck for the rest of the season, you've been a breath of fresh air, awesome football and its a pleasure to watch
Vacamion Posted 10 February 2016 Posted 10 February 2016 Ince needs a right kick up the a***, I think Pearson would give him that and he'd back to his form last season. The lesson from his stints here is that if his attitude is bad, he would leave. There was gnashing of teeth here when he got rid of expensive or flair players, but he was proved right. Would be a fantastic boss for Derby.

I think he would be awesome for us, our bottle jobs wouldn't get an east ride with him, and they've gotten far too relaxed on their big pay packets. Not quite sure what he'd make of the "derby way" though.... we deserve the abuse for that hahaha.

Can't see him and Pearson getting on too well but who knows. Like others have said, Nige would be ideal for Derby and he'll get rid of the prima donna's and replace them with genuine quality.

Vacamion Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 I heard King Billy is available for interview and can't wait to get back into management and to rekindle his relationship with the fans and local media in the East Midlands. Just had a flashback to the "King Billy" "I have returned" episode. http://youtu.be/Bj8vdztNmZ4 Luckily, the cringeworthiness of that saga managed to edge out the mental picture of Billy Davies and Tommy Sheridan doing an Eiffel Tower with Anver Khan.... until I mentioned it there again.

Like I've said previously in this thread, he would be a massive coup for Derby. Without Pearson, Leicester wouldn't be the best team in the country like they are today. Give him time and you'll be a solid Premier League club in a few years.
FrankieADZ Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 looks like derby and Pearson representatives are in talks about him taking over in the summer, according to sky sports newws
Corky Posted 11 February 2016 Posted 11 February 2016 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35541314 Isn't this about his fourth "last job" in football?
RowlattsFox Posted 13 February 2016 Posted 13 February 2016 Fulham have played some good stuff, seen them look good a couple of times this season but league table doesn't reflect that.
