Cambiasso to stay? It depends on the Mrs

Some dodgy looking German journo account says Esteban will become manager in a few days time... Probably bull, but what hasn't been in the last week!! And of course his brother has already denied this... @john_siez

He's in no rush.

Gained professional reputation over the years, and has not got nothing to prove.

Have a feeling he's been taking coaching badges whilst with us.

Edit: I really though he'd do a 'Sol Campbell' and leave after one game, but his delight at Sunderland showed he loved every minute of the season.

The fact that media speculation over his future has subsided completely indicates to me that he probably had agreed to stay with us but is now waiting to see who takes the reigns before confirming. various outlets have reported this to be the case. Of course he may have said he wouldn't stay under the existing manager and is now waiting to reassess his options, once the new man is known. (Threw that one in for effect!)

He must be devastated to be missing all those long runs of early pre season!

I think MON would give him the arm band

JEEZ - SACRILEGE - APOSTASTY - HERESY ...how dare you suggest on this forum that it might just, possibly be prudent to award the captaincy to anyone other than Wes!!!!! Prepare to have your house burnt to the ground, be hauled into the street and publicly stoned by the punitive Pearsonite posse.

Yeah.. thats not even funny. Pearson had a favorite in Wes. Thats all

Yep lets strip the captaincy from someone who has captained us to 14th in the Prem last year. Good job at keeping morale high there folks!

While we're at it, let's scare cambiasso away by sacking the best manager we have had since MON. OH wait.......

If wes and the other players must see that Cambiasso is a real leader. I don't think anyone would be too surprised if a new manager picked Cambiasso as captain.

It's one of the benefits of having a new man at the helm.

Cambiasso does not need to wear an armband to be the Captain. He is a natural leader and is the reason we are still in the Premier, Wes & Nige were just passengers on the Cambiasso Express.

May as well give him the armband then!

Yes Cambiasso is a natural leader, but isn't that more of a reason to give him the Armband if he re signs. While Wes may not like it I'm sure he'd accept it knowing it's going to a more experienced man.

if it were to get him to sign - yes - otherwise, nah - he is a natural leader anyway - he doesn't need the armband - give it to someone who will lead the team out for years to come - not saying Morgan - just someone with a long future at the club. If Cambiasso stays , it's surely only for a year

Captain genuinely isn't that relevant now I don't think. You'd not have been able to tell who was captain last year if Morgan didn't have the armband on. Not a criticism of Morgan but it's overplayed.

I think he's staying now. If he was going to leave, surely he'd have already done it? And if he's waiting on our new manager then... looks like his priorities are with us as it stands.

I just hope we don't do a Leicester and manage to cock it up.

Agree with this. If he wasn't at least slightly keen on staying his contract offer would likely have been rejected by now.The fact he is delaying his decision suggests he wants to stay, barring a major Preki-style shock managerial appointment.
