Welcome Claudio, now we can get back to checking the transfer forum every 10 minutes!

I understand this, but that was for Chelsea who were already a well established top half side.

It doesn't mean we are automatically guaranteed to win 50% of our games under him.

I wish him all the best, but it won't as easy as some think.

We already have high expectations after the way we finished last season.  If he doesn't hit the ground running then I can see some fans quickly turning against him the owners.

time to back the new fella.

If we're doing rubbish at xmas it might be a different story, but you can't write off somebody before they've even  started.

This is Foxestalk.

in his last club job with Monaco, only lost 9 games out of 75.

Don't care who you are or what club you are at, that's impressive.

Not good enough for little old Leicester though is he !

It's all conjecture, let the man get his foot in the door before we hand him his P45.

This time a few days ago we thought an American third tier manager was going to take charge. Some of you need to count your chickens, the man was the best realistic candidate available, and to say he was realistic would have been optimistic. The man has managed some of the greatest players of the last decade and it's easy to fail with the huge expectations placed upon you at the sides he's managed. We could finish anywhere from 8th/9th (dreamworld) to 20th (nightmare), that's huge scope and far-away from the fine margins the sides at the top of the leagues he's managed in are offered. Give him a chance, let's see what he can offer with his wealth of knowledge and enjoy the ride while we're on it.

I still see Mark de Vries in my dreams for God's sake. Some of you need to remember how far we've come.

How the hell can I possibly say who would or wouldn't be better, I'm not God. But you cannot list just six people and say he's the best available.

So you've hammered out new manager already but won't give a realistic name who in your eyes might have got a 100% backing from city fans!.Think that just proves how hard a job it was going to be

You mean the best of those linked, not the best available. Because there are more than about 6 managers out there.

Whole thing just stinks of us not learning our lessons from the Sven debacle.

Name one then? I'm genuinely gobsmacked that people are so against this appointment! He has managed big clubs and has a wealth of experience and most importantly will be able to attract players. It's not the same as Sven and he has a much better record than Sven. I honestly can't think if another manager that would join us that has a better background than Ranieri! The owners will have done their homework and I think this will turn out to be a good appointment. But to be fair, whoever had been given the job, there would have been people being negative on here!

I think the owners have a thing for madmen....

On being called "the Tinkerman": "If it is the case that you need just a first 11 and three or four more players, then why did Christopher Columbus sail to India to discover America?"

On his selection dilemmas: "When I don't put Damien Duff in the squad, my mother, who is 84 years old, asks why? She kills me about it, it is true."

On his imminent departure from Chelsea: "Before you kill me, you call me the "dead man walking". I must buy you an espresso. But only a little one - I am Scottish."

At a press conference before Chelsea were knocked out of the Champions League by Monaco in 2004: "Hello my sharks, welcome to the funeral."

To me Ranieri is not a long term manager. He's here as a 'rung manager'. I hope that he does well, and with the team he has at his disposal with a few crafty signings we could find ourselves pushing away from any relegation scrap.

I'll name a few Bielsi, Gallardo & Gourvenecc.

What will Ranieri's ambition be with Leicester? What will make him jump out of bed in the morning?

I see a man who has been there and bought the tee shirt at far bigger clubs than Leicester and hasn't over performed at any of them.

I wanted someone who will live and breathe the club and be hugely ambitious and driven.

And what's with the three year contract, it should have been two.

Sven gets bombed out of the Mexico and Ivory Coast jobs...Top chucks him a wedge of cash to rebuild his reputation.

Claudio gets bombed out of the Greece job...Top chucks him a wedge of cash to rebuild his reputation.

What can I say, he must be a fan of the seniors tour  lol

But meh whatever.  Glad it's finally sorted.  No idea what to expect this season though.  Much will depend on the backroom setup I suspect.

The owners aren't idiots. Their PR team will know that the fans are fuming about Pearson being given the sack and it would not surprise me in the least if they have Cambiasso waiting in the wings ready to announce he's signed on for another year just in case the fans aren't overly enamoured with Ranieri's appointment. They know full well what they're doing.

I will support this new guy but I am also going to support Nigel throughout his career.

Leicester will be as good as it gets for pearson unfortunately.

I will support this new guy, but I hope Nigel fails throughout his career. lol

I don't expect a premier league club to touch him anyway. But where he is employed next will speak volumes of what others thought of his work this season.

Good luck to CR. The owners have a 'name' for their branding exercise BUT i do think this is a good choice anyway. If we sign a few players including EC AND get off to a good start everyone will soon be saying NP who? Unfortunately that is football!

What would you do if he went to Forest and we found ourselves playing them in the FA Cup?

I would've liked to have seen someone like Gourvennec appointed, someone who will be here for the long term and will look to build a legacy here, rather than Ranieri who I imagine will only be here for a season or two.

However it's quite clear that the owners wanted a "name" and probably didn't even consider someone young with a growing reputation. Ranieri would've been one of my first choices when looking at the lists in the betting, and I don't think he spends as rashly as is stereotyped so I'm reasonably happy.

It looks like we'll keep hold of Walsh too, which is crucial as we have a superb scouting system. I like Shakespeare but he's easily replaceable; Walsh isn't.

First order of business is to sort out the centre midfield. We need at least two more in there, ideally Cambiasso +1.

Why?  :dunno:

Saying stuff like this just makes you seem like an ungrateful bellend.
