The midfielder, 31, has spent the past four years at Napoli and captained Switzerland in the World Cup last summer. Claudio Ranieri, the Leicester manager, has made almost daily calls to Inler to try to persuade him to replace Esteban Cambiasso at the heart of his midfield. You can picture it... He's an international captain for a pretty good side and has played in Europe and well in serie a. Playing in the Prem isn't everything, and getting a player like that for five mill is stupidly cheap - imagine you had a thirty one year old england captain, how much are you paying for him? £20-30m minimum.

Adding Inler only gives us 4 centre mids (discounting Deano). Can't see him being a flop either and 5 million is peanuts these days.

If any of our fans want to actually be a decent Premier League club, get to Europe the love obsession needs to stop with the players you like. Harsh? Oh well reality. Inler is a quality midfielder with plenty of Champions League, Europa League experience does it matter if he's not played in the Premier League? No. We have upgraded Nugent with Okazaki and are continually replacing players with better quality don't see any problem myself.

Think of it like this.....NP and the Championship winning team were like one of those days with heavy occasional showers...You know there may by a thunderstorm over the horizon but between the showers are periods of beautiful blue..... Currently with the Ranieri 'new era'.....It's like one of those days that starts calm and dry but cloudy. You don't know wether to get the Barbi out and you got the meat from a butcher you never used before. Who knows what the day may bring but it could end in one of those blue, calm evenings when you get to sit and watch the evening with a damn good beer...........Give it a go?

Suarez, Aguero, Drogba, Hazard, Henry, Ginola to name a few. Would we not be interested in Messi because he's never played in the Premiership? Generally Quality footballers are good wherever they go and I'm sure Inler will be an adequate replacement For Cambiasso, should he sign.

He has both international and European pedigree... if we only bought players with PL experience we would be limited and overcharged for anyone who is available. Much rather have someone with Inlers experience who has played at the top of the game for many years now for 5mill than pay 15mill for a Milner or something, that is far from unproven

If he signs, he'd take over the Cambiasso role and act as a proper central defensive midifielder, either on his own or alongside a guy like Kanté maybe (who is, however, not a true CDM but more of a box-to-box CM). Ranieri has said he needs players with experience and Inler fits that bill - as he's been Switzerland captain for about four years now, participated in two World Cups, EURO 2008 and won the Coppa Italia twice and the Supercoppa once. That he's never won the Italian league title is for one down to the fact that Udinese never was a top team challenging for the number one spot and Napoli usually being really close, but ultimately failing because of their own (high) expectations and the desperate attempts to be Italy's best since the Maradona days. Plus, he does know the Italian tactical way of thinking inside out thanks to eight Serie A seasons and would surely act as Ranieri's go-to guy on the pitch. Weren't there similar calls from some fans regarding Cambiasso? And look where it got us... If you want to play at a high level in the Premier League, at one point you've got to open up to foreign talent. I highly doubt a team solely consisting of English or British players would be able to cut it nowadays. Also, you'd have to pay way over the odds for somewhat mediocre English talent - look at the transfer fees paid for Sterling or Andy Carroll, for instance: Were/are they worth it?
