themightyfin Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 Let's just trust in CR and the backroom team to sign the right players. In all fairness they have not done a bad job so far and I'm sure they know a lot more than us! Whoever we sign our job as fans is to get right behind them
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 You must be joking? You're pulling my leg because nobody would prefer cattermole to cambiasso. Just admit it? I've only just noticed this post. Is EVERY come back of yours along the lines of 'Col loves Cattermole'. A player who I suggested simply because I saw him as the 'type' of player we needed. A DM with energy. By so doing, you are not debating the goods and bads of Cambiasso, how we construct our midfield etc..any discussion on this becomes redundant. It ends with 'Col loves Cattermole' Earlier you mentioned I was being pathetic. I suggest you get MC'S mirror out.. Getting back on track. .I wouldn't look to sign DeJong..and I've explained why.
Babylon Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 I notice your examples were two first team players rather than reserves that I was talking about. Inler (and in fairness it's in hindsight) is a reserve who's stock is on a downward trajectory, it may have been better to buy a young up and coming player to support DD and Kante although I accept your point has some credibility. I'd rather have a good old un than an average young un. Not sure it matters if they are first team or reserve the point is still the same. I think it depends on the make up of the squad as to what you target. Considering we had Drinkwater, King, James, Kante, another younger player for me seems like the wrong fit at that moment in time. A decent older head adds something the others haven't got. If we were talking about centre backs, then I'd say a younger player would be the next person you'd look at to replace say Wasyl, as Huth and Morgan aren't the youngest. So adding some youth in to that area would be the right thing to do. Same goes for the strikers who are all late 20's / 30's other than Kram, who I think we can presume will go.
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 Charlie Austin! Offer QPR, kramaric plus a tad bit of money as a sweetner & your laughing.

You're really going to avoid the question again? It'd save you a hell of a lot of ribbing if you just admit you got it wrong.
MPH Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 Charlie Austin! Offer QPR, kramaric plus a tad bit of money as a sweetner & your laughing. Thats a fair shout, actually....
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 You're really going to avoid the question again? It'd save you a hell of a lot of ribbing if you just admit you got it wrong. Of course I got it wrong with Cattermole! . One last time..I suggested him as the first player I could think of as the 'type' of player we needed. And said it in ONE post... based mainly on him being Sunderland's second best player in THEIR great escape. Now discuss what we are discussing.. and stop swerving the real issue. Christ almighty! Never join a bloody debating society!
AKCJ Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 Thats a fair shout, actually.... I wouldn't want to pay money + a striker that cost us 9m 11 months ago for a striker who will be available for free in May. Just offer them Kramaric IMO. He'll thrive in that league.
Fridgechef Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 Sirigu is reportedly considering his future at PSG, and cold maybe move in January, could challenge KS for the spot.
CallMeGod Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 Charlie Austin and here's why, he has been proven to score goals everywhere he's played (just like Vardy) 2006–2007 Kintbury Rangers 27 (20) 2007–2008 Hungerford Town 30 (5) 2008 Thatcham Town 0 (0) 2008–2009 Poole Town 42 (48) 2009–2011 Swindon Town 54 (31) 2011–2013 Burnley 82 (41) 2013– Queens Park Rangers 82 (45) Also scoring in the Premier League for a crap QPR team, He could literally be that extra 10 goals for the rest of the season to fire us into the champions league, that Ulloa/Okazaki aren't giving us right now.
ronnup Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 Anyone that uses that laughing emoji constantly in a disagreement is a specimen.
neverhealed Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 agreed - Ulloa/Okazaki are not doing it... a workhouse like Austin could fit in nicely with our style
Stadt Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 Austin isn't going to suit us, doesn't offer anything that we've not already got in Ulloa (bar offering marginally more of a goal threat). I think we need a very dynamic link up player, someone who is quick, hardworking and creative - Franco Vazquez?
NewEnglandFox Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 Who wants to explain the difference between "he scores a ton of goals" and "he can help our team score more goals collectively?"

A much better number 10.
Stadt Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 Disagree I think Austin is far more of a goal threat than Ulloa. A much better number 10. There's not much in it really but the stat's last season suggest Ulloa is nominally more creative. We need a better spread of goals but I don't think putting Austin in the side would mean that all of sudden we score more goals - I think Ulloa and Okazaki's lack of goals stems from the system rather than the individuals, they're in the team to create space and support Vardy rather than get the goals themselves or at least they're not taking up enough goalscoring positions.
Dan Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 The thing that gets me is that people seem to think if we sign Austin he will go and bang in 9 goals between now and the end of the season, as if the whole thing is fantasy football. He isn't a poor player, he's got a lot going for him, but I just don't see him suiting our style. We can do better now I reckon. We're top of the Premier League, and in January we will almost certainly be sitting in a Champions League place. If we look in the right place we can buy players far superior to Austin, although I get that he's likely to be a bit of a bargain buy. I see him going to Norwich or Bournemouth.
lgfualol Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 Don't want Charlie Austin, and doubt he'll leave qpr if he stands by his comments. I want someone with an exotic name as a number 10.
Tuna Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 Why do we keep talking about Austin? We're better than that now. Get Sigurdsson in.
ScouseFox Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 austin would be the most upsetting thing to happen at this football club since we went into admin
filbertstreet Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 If we sign Charlie Austin I want to see a player called Vodka signing as well
Bettsj2 Posted 18 December 2015 Posted 18 December 2015 I want someone with an exotic name as a number 10. This. Preferably for a fee that generates at least 30 pages of argument on here.
