Babylon Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 A few rumours around Walsall that he's on their list to replace Dean Smith.
Happy Fox Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Shaky won't go anywhere why should he. I remember reading somewhere that he was keen at some stage in his coaching career to be a manager.
Fox92 Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Shaky won't go anywhere why should he. To become a manager? And he played over 200 times for them, and it's closer to his home.
Matt Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Hmmm tough decision for him. I could understand him going, progressing, bettering himself, getting the top job somewhere but at the same time would he really want to leave what is happening here. Nige to be his assistant there?
AKCJ Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Don't think that's enough of a draw to leave a project like ours. Not to be disrespectful to Walsall but this is once in a lifetime stuff.
Haydos Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Hmmm, starting a managerial career at 52, bit of a gamble. Has a pretty cushy job at the moment and is more than likely paid very well for it. Depends on his ambitions I guess.
Vlad the Fox Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 I remember reading somewhere that he was keen at some stage in his coaching career to be a manager. Pearson mentioned it in an interview last season. I'm sure it was on radio Leicester so must have been early in the season.
Captain... Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Got to be a pay cut as well, surely? If he has ambitions of managing then fair play to him, this is sadly more likely than him just following Pearson around like a little puppy. Are Walsall a team on the up?

If he has ambitions of managing then fair play to him, this is sadly more likely than him just following Pearson around like a little puppy. Are Walsall a team on the up? Doing alright in League One atm. Fourth, two points from second.
Wymsey Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Thought he signed a new contract here earlier this year?
Len Finsbury Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 He'll be earning more here as an assistant than he will as a manager at Walsall but sometimes money isn't everything. I'd rather him leave to pursue a management career than rejoin NP whenever he gets another job. Either way, it'll be a shame to change things at the club as it seems like they all work well together.
Spudulike Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 If the rumours are true then he's in line for a 100% bonus if we don't get relegated. If that's the case then I wouldn't expect him to go anywhere unless the other club comes up with a lot of money.
Leicesterpool Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Walsall is a good club and to be fair I can understand him wanting leave if they came calling, he is 52 and probably thinks he deserves a chance to be the main man instead of just being the assistant. I don't wanna lose Shaky but it's a decent job offer.
Thracian Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Why would Shakespeare dream of leaving Leicester when he's a seemingly respected cog in a wheel of massive and achieveable ambition?
gerrytaggart Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown.
Clever Fox Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 It come down to ambition, if he want's to be a Manager in his own right then it has to be soon, like next 3 years otherwise it'll be too late. It'll be hard to give up the roll we're on and he has to given his share of credit for it.
Countryfox Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 A few rumours around Walsall that he's on their list to replace Dean Smith. You're not normally one to listen to rumours ..... Is there more to it than that Mr B ??
Pasty1 Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 I was a good paper boy once...... Never made me a Newsagent though....
Bayfox Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Ignoring all the reasons he may go. Be mad to go. Ambition is one thing. But what a step down.
st albans fox Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Philips left a coaching role to become assistant manager If shaky is ambitious, he will be interested. the issue will be financial.
Webbo Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 If Shakespeare makes a go of management and eventually gets a big club to manage then he'll be on better money than he's on now, so ,long term, he might be better off financially. If nobody took a chance then nobody would ever become a manager.
Sampson Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Why would Shakespeare dream of leaving Leicester when he's a seemingly respected cog in a wheel of massive and achieveable ambition? Because he wants to try his hand as a manager? Can't say I blame him if he goes and neither do I think we should stand in his way if he wants to try his hand at management. Been an excellent figure at the club and it'd be interesting to see how we'd get on without him.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Walsall is a good club in a great position and Shakey lives in the area. He should go and make a name for himself now the transition here is over, I reckon he will do well.
st albans fox Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 When Sven lost didi hamman, I recall our form suffered in the short term.
