Villa (Away) - Pre Match Thread

Hard to want anything less than 3 points from this fixture. I can't see complacency setting in, these lads want to go for that title it seems. I am expecting a performance similar to Swansea/Newcastle. Tight at the back and clinical going forwards.

I have a feeling that now Claudio has seen who we could potentially play in the fourth round, coupled with what was probably an unexpected three points last night, this could be the game that he rests a few. I think maybe rest Jamie and play him in the Cup. Also think Kante needs a break, two strange performances in a row now and he's one who hasn't been afforded the time off. Would bring Benny in too. No harm, Villa have no goals unless there's a set piece.

Same team as Spurs, get an early goal, coast in to two nil lead, leak a goal through complacency, shit ourselves for the last ten minutes, win, go back top.

0-2, solid away performance that harks back to the Newcastle and Swansea games.

If there is one thing we've been good at this season, it's murdering the shite teams at the bottom away from home. Here's hoping to another.

I will give you Sunday but yesterday he was back to his usual self. absolutely all over the park at times winning possession back.

Wouldn't be against benching Mahrez a la Norwich tbh. Give him a bit more rest, keep him on his toes and bring him on 2nd half.

Mahrez doesn't need a rest. What he needs is a goal. He probably feels a little down after the penalty miss. If he needs a goal then what better team to play than the team bottom of the league. I fancy Mahrez to run rings around the Villa backline. Hit them hard and hit them early.

Gray needs to make an appearance with his Brummie connections.

3 points here and 3 points at home to Stoke and we are laughing all the way to the Champions League.

You'd think we will have way too much for them. I can see a similar result to West Brom away. They'll get a late consolation penalty but we shall win.

Start high tempo score early and then make them come out and play, frustrate them and keep hitting them on the break. It wont be an easy game but I think we have enough to win it 3-1

Love the way people are moaning about Spurs being overconfident before the game last night, then in here there's predictions of big wins for us and talk of scoring for fun to boost our goal difference  lol

Of course it's okay to be confident ahead of playing a team bottom of the league but don't set yourself up for a big fall ffs.

a point keeps us at least second. A win takes us top and puts pressure on arsenal away at stoke (who have previous against the big teams at their ground)

wear them down, grind it out and pay attention the whole game this time and we can get something from this game and not have to do a huge comeback!

also where do you think we would be now if we hadn't come back from that?!

I just hope albrighton don't get caught up in the occasion as I feel it effected his performance massively at the kp, he's looked off the pace recently and his delivery has been lacking but I'd still keep him in and keep the same 11, I'm going for a 1.0 win with Okazaki bagging the goal

his delivery lacks because hes on the left wing, throughout his career hes been a right winger, get the ball then cross.

Now he has to turn inside and thats not natural to him.

Would like to see Gray get a start here but I have a feeling Ranieri wants to break him into premier league football gently seeing as he brought Dyer on instead of him towards the end of the game.

He's played there all season and has looked anything but an unnatural left winger, granted he's probably played his whole career on the right But he's adapted well if u ask me, his delivery all season has been of the quality you'd expect from him it's just been the last 3 or 4 games, he's also looked a bit leggy which doesn't surprise me considering the amount of distance he clicks up, maybe he just needs a rest

I hope we smash them like Swansea and Newcastle. Snatching some points from Villa and Stoke is going to be important so that we can go in with a nice cushion against city and arsenal.

We have to win. I'm not having these after one win over a bang out of form Palace. They're still garbage and I'm still confident. 0-2 win, although wouldn't it be perfect if we won this 0-5 with 5 goals in 18 minutes.
