Livid Posted 28 February 2016 Posted 28 February 2016 Mum and Dad were both ST holders. No kids of my own but throughout my whole extended family it's either no interest in football or they're Leicester. My wife had a season ticket when I first met her and my Father in law still has one.
adam Posted 28 February 2016 Posted 28 February 2016 All the men in my family support the city. All the women hate the football!!
BoyJones Posted 28 February 2016 Posted 28 February 2016 Born in Paddington, my dad from the east end. My cousins support either West Ham (should be the "O"s really but too unfashionable) or QPR. Could have been me following those teams, but in 1961 my Dad who worked at Edgware Road tube station, got job offers in Leicester and Bristol. Thank God he chose Leicester.
bovril Posted 28 February 2016 Posted 28 February 2016 My dad supports LCFC. My mum supports LCFC My brother supports LCFC My sister supports LCFC My uncle supports LCFC My aunty supported LCFC Dad of my dad supported LCFC Mum of my dad supported LCFC Dad of my mum supported LCFC Mum of my mum supported LCFC My rabbit supports LCFC Just out of interest why did you decide to support LCFC?
David Lowe Posted 28 February 2016 Posted 28 February 2016 Just out of interest why did you decide to support LCFC? No idea.
FireFox Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 No idea.I would think it is because you rabbit does. A rabbit that supports the foxes? #Fearless
Gary Eatfood Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 I'm a ST holder and I sit with my sister and my daughter. 2 brothers and my uncle are all ST holders. My nephew until he went to uni last year was ST holder but he was there with me on Saturday. My Dad, who introduced me to Leicester was a ST holder until illness prevented him attending. My Grandad was a ST holder until be succumbed to cancer. He actually had a picture taken with the Birch when we had 4 generations of the family attend a game. My Mother was also a ST holder in the 90's before she took a bigger interest in motor sports. Fundamentally, nobody in my family supports any team other than Leicester.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 Dad from Birkenhead and supports Liverpool Grandad on dads side was Everton apparently Mum is from Shelthorpe and is Leicester Uncles from mums family are Leicester Wife from New Parks is a non footy convert to Leicester Father in law is Leicester Several cousins are Leicester Have one uncle (by marriage) from dads side of family who is a red scum fan (lives East Leake)
VIKTOR-LE5 Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 My old man came to England from (Punjab,India) in the 70's an loved football from his days in India an moved to Leicester and chose Leicester as his team. I was born in Leicester in 1981 and just followed in my old mans footsteps, my younger brother is also a LCFC fan, most of my younger cousins support Liverpool an followed in their glory hunting dads footsteps who came off the banana boat in the 70's and these cousins come from towns like Leamington Spa and Gravesend. My dads brother has supported United since the early 80's. Alot of Asians i know in Leicester all tend to support United, Liverpool or Arsenal but they all say Leicester is their 2nd team, glory hunting c***s.
Buce Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 No connections to Leicester but have always supported them(think you know why by now) Dad was Norwich Uncles and cousins Norwich STHs Grandad Villa Do tell, Cambridge.
onekeithweller Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 Born Hammersmith, nearest club as a kid QPR. Parents had no interest in football whatsoever. Mum from Leicester; granddad and uncles and cousins all City and I followed suit. Earliest football memory is watching World Cup 1966 at my grandparents house and my granddad telling me in reverential terms about Gordon Banks and that he was the greatest goalkeeper in the world and he played for Leicester. That left a big impression on me and when I started to take more interest in football and had to nail my colours to the mast it had to be Leicester; in my school 90% supported Chelsea and a few QPR and some Brentford. My sister married a big Chelsea fan and two of their kids follow football the son Chelsea and the daughter Arsenal. I took her to her first game, against City at Highbury; they thrashed us 5-0 horrible. My wife not interested but her dad and granddad both big Fulham fans but my brother-in-law is a big Spurs fan with a soft spot for Fulham. His two boys (twins) are one Arsenal and the other Man U; how does that happen?
Jon the Hat Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 Born in Surrey, went to see a few Woking games a teenager, but wasn't really that interested in football in those days. My Dad is a Rugby man really, but an armchair Chelsea fan. Never liked Chelsea enough to support them. Went to Uni In Leicester in 1995, and the rest is history. So no real football fans in my family.
cambridgefox Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 Do tell, Cambridge. When I was a kid I got one of those Panini sticker albums, and my first shiny club badge was Leicester City.Supported them ever since.Luckily it's not too far away.
LanguedocFox Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 I'm very jealous of all you who have City-supporting kids. I was born in Loughborough, saw my first game at the age of 11 (4-3, v Grimsby, since you ask) and have been hooked ever since, even though I lived in London from the age of 22, and in France since 2004. I took my 10yo son to see Gordon Milne's 1982-83 promotion-winners (Lineker, Linex, Smith etc) and after a couple of games he said "Dad, I don't like it" and never went again. I decided to leave my daughter until she was mature enough to appreciate such things and took her to the Fourth Round FA Cup match at Selhurst Park (we lived a bus ride away at the time) in January 1998 and she was 18. Palace hadn't won a home game all season (apart from the third round). They beat us 3-0, and on the way home on the bus my daughter said "Why don't you support a decent team like Chelsea, who win things. Leicester are crap." Which, on that day, was true.
tyfox Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 I was born in Rugby and supported Leicester for over 35 years but haved lived down in Bucks for the last 15 years. My Dad is a Lancastrian and supports Blackburn One of my uncle's supports Notts County and the other is a ST holder at Ipswich One brother in law follows Mansfield and the other Villa My 9 year old daughter and 6 year old son have been told in no uncertain terms that they have no choice but to be Leicester fans I was born in rugby too. Raised in new parks and am leicester through and through so are my kids and mrs
Finnegan Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 The old man is a season ticket holder. We go together, home and away. That's it. Don't think my cousins are big football fans.
MPH Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 2 Sons. Born in the USA but they WILL be supporting Leicester City.
goose2010 Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 Mum and Dad from Manchester both big united fans uncle is a Man City fan, Brother is a Liverpool fan and grand parents are both big Cov fans, we moved to Leicestershire about 25 years ago and that's when I decided to start support Leicester lucky really could easily of been a cov fan!
stripeyfox Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 No one in my family growing up liked football. My uncle (from Luton) took me to my first football match at Kenilworth Road in the 80's against Tottenham. But I decided Luton was a bit inconvenient so decided to support someone closer to home.
Alf Bentley Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 Do tell, Cambridge. Yes, do pray tell, Cambridge. Like Buce, I too am so senile that my memory has failed to retain the information about your LCFC roots. [Edit: Just noticed that you had already responded. Apologies, I'm obviously even more senile than I thought!]
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 Dad - Villa Mum - Stoke City Cousins - Villa Brother - Wycombe Wanderers (we moved down south to Aylesbury, Bucks when I was a kid)
Carl the Llama Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 Grandad was my LCFC enabler as a small kid growing up in a football-less household, such a shame he isn't around to see this season. Like I say nobody else in my immediate family followed football but they're bandwagoning it hard right now - one sister even asked for a purple (her favourite colour) City track jumper for Xmas which I duly obliged and my parents now regularly post articles about us on their social medias. I'm sure this sounds wrong but as much as I encourage them supporting us it kind of grates to see them act like City fans after years of blank stares and disinterest whenever I dared mention football. Elsewhere in the family: -Aunt from Leicester now living in Birmingham, LCFC -Uncle from Birmingham, Man Utd (ugh) -Cousin 1 from Birmingham, Villa -Cousin 2 from Birmingham, Liverpool (ughhhhh) -Uncle from Leicester now living in Australia, LCFC -All 3 of my cousins in Australia, LCFC -Aunt from London, Arsenal -Uncle from London, Arsenal -Cousin 1 from London, Arsenal (if pushed for a team) -Cousin 2 from London, Watford
Alf Bentley Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 Self: Grew up near Folkestone, as a fan of Folkestone Town (RIP), converted to LCFC on moving here (wife's area) 15 years ago; 8th year as LCFC STH Dad: Grew up in Kerry, Ireland; fan of Kerry Gaelic football & Ireland rugby Mum: Grew up in Sheffield; was a Blades fan (more interested in football than my Dad) Brother: Has lived in SE London for years & is nominally a Millwall fan (but little interest) Daughter: Born in Leicester, LCFC fan: little understanding of football, but a natural fan - takes piss out of glory-seeking mates, thinks Wes is world's best defender & was shouting at away fans last time I took her to a match (can't think where she gets this stroppy, argumentative attitude) Wife: No interest - and doesn't pretend otherwise, thankfully Brother-in-law: Cov (nominally) Uncles: The English ones are Owls & Blades, respectively; the Irish ones all Kerry Gaelic football Cousins: Kerry Gaelic football for Irish ones; English ones include Spurs, Hull (STH), Pompey (shareholder), Owls, West Ham Friends include: Forest (!), Derby (!), Bristol City, Villa, Baggies, Hartlepool (deceased friend), Cardiff, Colchester, Newport Co & St. Pauli (STH)
Guest Col city fan Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 I read title and thought this was going to be a thread about looking after mi mum? #confused
artursteppe Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 I was born in Gillingham, Kent, not a million miles from Woolwich (original home of Arsenal). One brother also born there, the other brother born in Bedworth, Warwickshire, where we moved when I was 10 years old. The whole family were 'gooners'. Started supporting Cov from Div 3 to Div 1 in the sixties, nearest club. 1967 went to Filbert Street, two months before Lenny Glover joined, and never looked back. The whole family are Leicester fans. Mother, brothers, wives, girl friends, nephews, nieces. One son has an Aston Vanilla girl friend, one son has a Tottering Hotspur girl friend. Step daughter ( now 23 ), started living with me when she was ten. Her father was a Weeds United supporter. Whenever she went to visit him, when she was young, she always wore a Leicester City shirt - Bless Her! I was so proud!
