DJ Barry Hammond Posted 6 March 2016 Posted 6 March 2016 Need to keep hold of our Manager first... nail down the players we can - then move from there
RowlattsFox Posted 6 March 2016 Posted 6 March 2016 Wouldn't want to go to crazy but we need to take the opportunity. However it will still be hard to attract the big players. Champions league football gives us a chance of keeping Mahrez and Kante.
weller54 Posted 6 March 2016 Posted 6 March 2016 Just keep doing what we are doing, no need to deviate. I can't see anyone leaving if we are in the champions league. IF?
DB11 Posted 6 March 2016 Posted 6 March 2016 I am not sure Mahrez will leave especially if we win title and coupled with an auto group spot in the CL all we need to do is up his weekly wages. He stated some time back he owes a great debt to the LCFC so heres hoping! I think winning the league would more than repay that debt
Finnegan Posted 6 March 2016 Posted 6 March 2016 I think we have to win it to keep Mahrez and Kante. Personally don't agree. Kante I think will stay at least another year if we get in the CL proper. Mahrez is a funny one because for all the bluster about Barcelona and such, I don't think he's anywhere near ready enough for that level, he's still a little inconsistent. Can you really imagine Barca making him a priority when they have Messi, Suarez and Neymar up front and a shit defence? The more likely scenario is that the "big" English clubs will want to take him off us but next year they'll all be a step backwards. I think both are best served doing a year in the CL with Leicester and then moving on if we can't repeat this season.
Les-TA-Jon Posted 6 March 2016 Posted 6 March 2016 With the new money, I reckon transfers between PL teams will become less and less common. If we have to lose our best players, let make sure they go to other leagues...
richardsfoxes Posted 6 March 2016 Posted 6 March 2016 I could accept Kante/Mahrez going to a top top foreign team, I could never accept them going to a english club if we made champions league.
Gerard Posted 6 March 2016 Posted 6 March 2016 I think we will get to keep Kante for another season, no chance with Mahrez though.. I might be naive but I think Mahrez stays if we win the league. Three years left on his contract still at the end of this season and Ranieri just won't want to sell. Maybe the ambition of the club and the tight knit group we have persuade him the next season he's best staying where he is and being the main man. I could see him signing a £100k a week new contract for a year's extension and if he continues his performances he will get his big move next year for £80m.

Obviously winning the league would help but if we finished behind Spurs or Arsenal it wouldn't be a step backwards. I don't think we're likely to be challenging for the title next season, especially if CR takes the Italy job. It'll be their best opportunity to move to a top club.

If we have to lose our best players, let make sure they go to other leagues... I agree, it's almost not worth even looking at the PL market. Any player who we would be interested in will cost silly money, Watford aren't going to roll over and have their tummy tickled because someone wants Ighalo as they are now one of the 30 richest clubs in the world. I've said for a while now I would prefer to see us buy the best players in leagues just outside the top five leagues or the best players in the lesser teams of the top five leagues but not the PL.
Guest Col city fan Posted 6 March 2016 Posted 6 March 2016 Rule 1 is to keep the existing squad. If they demand bigger contracts, pay them. This is the big time. Secondly, another goal scorer. I'd have a close look at Ayoze Perez. He's playing in a terrible Newcastle side with a rubbish manager and is clearly a player with an awful lot more to offer. Especially if the Geordies go down, he'll want out. I also like the look of Breel Embolo. Another two full backs would also be good. A couple of younger, up and coming players. Possibly from Spain or Italy. A creative midfielder. Someone who can score goals from the midfield area. And finally a younger, top quality centre back with pace. There are still very good reports about Eder Alvarez Balanta, for instance. That would be it for me. Don't look at paying any more than 20 to 25 mill for any of them. The really important thing would be to sign players with the right personalities. We don't want big time charlies at the club. Instead, players that will compliment the existing squad both with their on field ability and their off field solidarity.
EnglishOxide Posted 6 March 2016 Posted 6 March 2016 We should make cheeky bids for Alexis Sanchez, Eden Hazard and Lukaku. I know Hazards attitude is questionable but Wasyl will soon slap that out of him and have him playing well again. Lukaku can be lured by CL football. Sanchez can be lured by not having to play with soft as shite bottlers every week. All that's left is a CB. Smalling should do the trick. It should all cost around £130m but it would be money well spent.
ozleicester Posted 6 March 2016 Posted 6 March 2016 We need 15 to 20 million pound players. even GTF wasnt that heavy

Striker wise I like the look of Perez as well, but I would see him as one for the future. Slimani from Lisbon looks a top striker I would go for him if we are still scouting him.
David Hankey Posted 6 March 2016 Posted 6 March 2016 Leicester City need to build on this successful season by becoming a regular top six side and given that why should they be swayed by the 'Big Money Clubs', after all, they weren't in January. The Club need to keep Ranieri for a start and we need to poach other Clubs for their talented players where necessary. This season has been no fluke, we are where we are on merit and the superb performances of the whole squad since last August. Build on the success, increase the capacity of the stadium and let's all get used to the fact that we are deservedly a top side.
volpeazzurro Posted 6 March 2016 Posted 6 March 2016 First and foremost imo is that any player bought has to be able to fit in with the personality and ethos of our current squad. Surely we are the proof in the pudding this year that spending big doesn't guarantee success. How Van Haal can get away with spending £250 million and end up with arguably a worse team than he had in the first place is beyond me. The young 'wonder kids' he appears to be blooding at present were free and already there! He's not the only con artist supposed expert out there by a long chalk. To spend £23 million on a player like Mussa from a poor league like Russia (bit like Krameric) is a big risk on a player who is also having his price bumped up considerably by a club holding teams to ransome for a relatively unknown player. Here we have to trust Walsh and his team. Although he's had a poor season, I think Benteke is worth a shout as his stock value has fallen and Klopp doesn't appear keen on him. Yet he was a brute of a player when running onto the ball, like how we play and Liverpool don't. Shaun Long in tandem with Vardy would also run defences ragged. Both are proven in the Premiership. No need to spend big on an unknown, I think we've proved that it's all a myth. We certainly can do without any big ego's in our dressing room.
joedawg Posted 6 March 2016 Posted 6 March 2016 Not saying I'm ITK because I'm completely not but I know someone who kind of is and he says Kante is quite homesick and would go back to France if a good offer comes in for him (PSG, Monaco, Montpellier I imagine) but I'm sure once he gets a better grip of the language and a premier league winners medal he'll forget all about baguettes and frogs legs.
FantasticMrFox&Son Posted 6 March 2016 Posted 6 March 2016 Sweet Dreams are made of this............. Not sure how much comes our way depending on where we finish this year in the Premier, but we are on track for a place in the Champions League. Add in our share of the increase in TV revenues and it really does become interesting. Go for a mix of youth, pace, flair for midfield and upfront, with experience for the back-line. Start looking at the best in this league that fit the bill and want to be a part of this team, no prima-donna's "I'm the star" players. Starting up front we need someone fast to play alongside Vardy. I'd be looking at Ayoze Perez (Newcastle), Josh King (Bournemouth) and Shane Long (Southampton). If you want an aerial variation then spend more money and look at Benteke (Liverpool reject, sell at a loss ??), plus the craft of Deeney (Watford) or the overall play of Graziano Pelle (Southampton). I've got ideas for midfield and at the back but I'll leave it at that for now. None of the above are must have's, just dreaming out loud for players that give us something extra for the year(s) ahead.
TJB-fox Posted 6 March 2016 Posted 6 March 2016 Mahrez Kante and especially Vardy would be nuts to leave this summer even if we don't win the league I personally think!
sdb Posted 6 March 2016 Posted 6 March 2016 If we go on to do something amazing... I'd buy a better no 10 and a top class bully of a striker (Lukaku type). A brilliant young centre back and right back. And leave it at that I think. It's more about fleshing out the squad, but may as well try and buy better than what we have.

You need FAR more ambition for all of those names, especially the ones I've bolded, IMO. Plus why the hell would we want Benteke on his 100k+ a week when he's no better than Ulloa?
ealingfox Posted 6 March 2016 Posted 6 March 2016 Would be worth sticking a bid in for Lukaku purely to see how rustled the Everton fans get.

One of the worst types of recruitment is buying squad players. We have to go out and sign maybe 4 top players in the view that they'll get in our first team, then possibly 1 or 2 talented youngsters. We have to take advantage of the money and position we will find ourselves in next season
LCFC FOX Posted 6 March 2016 Posted 6 March 2016 Hopefully 95% of our signings come from abroad. I think we need 4 to 6 new players. Replacing De Laet, Inler, Wasyl, Schwarzer and Kramaric as I don't think any of these will stay.
