McClaren remains manager of Newcastle United. For now. Expectation is he will go. When? Anyone's guess. Lacks dignity, for all concerned.

Hilarious! Any decent club would have sacked him the day after Bournemouth game. This is brilliant. Players must be thinking what the hell is going on. Newcastle are an embarrassment

Longer this drags on, the better for us!

The uncertainty is definitely a good thing. one more thing to distract them from preparing for the match.

This is good news

Newcastle will be up for it and Come and play us

Instead of 11 behind ball

Will be a cracking game now

Vardy to win it with space and time

not a chance this will happen. people can call rafa whatever you want but he's not a complete disabled. he will go all out for 0-0 and his whole ethos will be to sort their defence out early doors. there's literally absolutely no chance he's going to take over this absolute shite, go to the top scoring, top of the league team away from home and think "yeah i've got a good plan, let's attack attack attack".

he'll probably (hopefully) won't have enough time, but in a few weeks they will be well drilled and hard to beat. as it is they will still almost definitely be shit but he is an astute man and he will recognise their main issues and try a quick fix to keep them up in little time. "gung ho" and giving people like vardy "space and time" is going to be so far bottom of his list of things to do it is ridiculous.

To me this shows poor spirit and blatant gamesmanship from the insiders at NUFC. It's obvious that they are purposely dragging this out, at the expense of McClaren's dignity, in an attempt to "hustle" us and catch us cold. It's also a "starve the lions for 3 days then set them on their prey" tactic, by bringing Benitez in at the 11th hour, in the hope that the players go all out to impress him.

I can't help taking it personally as again, it shows this spiteful mentality of a team who are nowhere near being in the running to win the league wanting to claim the moral victory by trying to put a dent in a "tiny" club like Leicester's attempt to win the top tier. I lived in Newcastle during the late '90's and remember Shearer costing them 15 million ( a then world record transfer if I'm not mistaken). That's still 6 million more than our record signing, almost 20 years later!!! They are a huge club, if any club should have a chip on their shoulder, it should be us FFS!

It's an absolute "must" that we prepare for the best possible Newcastle, with a Plan B and C to go to if needed.

The reason Rafa never won the league with Liverpool was because he did not understand English football.

His first game could be against one of the most English sides the prem has ever seen.

We don't give up or know when too.

The state of "journalism" these days. As long as they can point the finger at someone that said what they're repeating they think it's okay to say anything.

And I thought I was paranoid. :D  Pretty sure they just have a shambles of a board room rather than some mind games masterplan.

Oh, no doubt it looks like I'm over reacting, and looking at it rationally, you would still expect a Leicester win on Monday night. But it's the mentality and the principle of the thing that irks me. I understand Newcastle are in a relegation scrap, but the fact is that they are 5 points better off than we were, this time last year, with a game in hand. So I can only take from it that there's some spite and jealousy there, knowing that they are a much bigger club than us but there's no way they can win the league and are fighting for survival. Otherwise, why string this out humiliating McClaren to this degree, before facing us? Why not afterwards, when they will still have 9 games to go and are in a better position then we were, this time last year?

This complaining about expecting opponents to act a certain way is ridiculous. Typical top of the league whiners expecting lower table clubs to fall into line and roll over for us. Newcastle basically has borrowed time until Tuesday to appoint a manager. McLaren is really the only one I feel sorry for right now. It's not personal. We need to find a way to beat them on Monday regardless of what they do, not look for scapegoats before the game has even started.

Everyone,
I should add that perhaps the timing of this NUFC fan letter to the board may have inspired the board to want to play mindgames with us a bit, at McClaren's expense. Perhaps I'm wrong but you only have to read the comments of that "NUFC fan" on here to see the spitefulness. I'm pretty sure he is a microcosm of the whole thing. I understand rival mentalities, but that's usually between the traditionally big clubs. I really thought, given the magnitude of what we are doing, in comparison to our size and the fact we escaped relegation last season, supporters of the clubs who are way out of the running would be more magnanimous towards us.

Sorry but suggesting some conspiracy theory is bonkers, surely it's always a difficult call when it comes to replacing a Manager especially one which has spent so much in January. It would be a really difficult call to stick or twist, you have to get the right person in and that will not be easy for them with a real possibility of Championship football next season.

You're reading far too much into the actions of simpletons.

Besides, are you saying that if it were another club from outside of the top 4 challenging for the title and we were in a precarious relegation scrap then you would want us to throw our game and let them get 3 points closer to the title?  Come off it.
