Bluetintedspecs Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 If we look at it from a different perspective, what we're actually doing is pretty damn freaky in a brilliant way and other clubs fans acknowledging our success in stuffing it up the Premier Leagues Usual suspects is just decent!
ARM1968 Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 The whole thing feels special. It's a special moment in time. The end is likely nigh.
hejammy Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Saw that outside the ground today and was brilliant! I for one applaud the sportsmanship, it's not jumping on the bandwagon it's just respecting when another club is doing well. Superb!
johnny the fox Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 I'm an Arsenal fan does that include me.?? of course dear boy...jump in the waters fine.... and blue...
FantasticMrFox&Son Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Except for the usual suspects (Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City) and the old-pretenders (Arsenal, Liverpool & Spurs), I'm sure that the vast majority of other football fans are loving it. Sticking it to the big boys was not part of the script for 2015-2016. that's why other fans are watching and riding on our coat-tails. Two fingers to the big-spending, headline grabbing football establishment from the fans of all the little clubs who start every season hoping that this will be THEIR year, and it never is, except this year it is. So next year if it's not us I want another less fancied club to make waves in the posh pool, I'll be willing them on.
kyleolly Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 A saints fan went up to my son and said make sure your dad records this because it'll never happen again and my lad responded with "we're gonna win the league"
Cadno'r Cymoedd Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Well done Saints fans I say. Belgian fans did the same at Cardiff when Wales beat them during the EURO qualifiers. Whilst the intense rivalries should always be cherished and encouraged in a good way - I wouldn't envisage Southampton fans doing the same for Pompey! ;-) - good sportsmanship is far preferable to the sort of violent shit I remember when Chelsea fans infiltrated the home fans at Filbert Street back in 1980/81 iirc. All kicked off.
Daggers Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 It's a sign of class that some will never appreciate. Well done them.
TJB-fox Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Would like to think I'm a fairly friendly football fan but am I the only one that finds this all a bit tragic and uncomfortable. I wouldn't wait outside the ground in a guard of honour singing another teams praises after they'd just beat us 1-0 to knock down our European hopes, no matter how special the event is.
Claridge Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 so wrong what has happened to football fans in this country. can't wait til fenerbache away when they all try to set us on fire like the old days. Following football in the 80s was amazing with the passion but now I'm taking the kids thank god it's not like that now. But anyone too young to remember can't even imagine what Chelsea away etc ... Was like.
steveherbe Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Ooh, Southern TV are bitter, 'Saints had 2 clear penalty claims turned down'. Ferkoff you southern inbreds, I'll be taking the piss for months, losers.
Moksky Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Football has changed dramatically from a supporters view over the 4 decades I have been watching. As someone quite rightly pointed , not many would venture to the Chelsea's of the world in the 80s -I did, but today was respectful of a few Southampton fans, I'm too bitter a person to do that if I lose . However I would clap off opposition, maybe that's my age, you mellow as you get older. We are representing the underdog, all the small clubs up and down the country and the world. The mentality of British public is to back ourselves as underdogs in sport in general. We give hope to clubs that can dream of our current position , we are in dreamland ourselves. I am living the dream, yes it's nerve racking, and not good for my health, but our club proves that right mix of teamwork, grit, spirit and a touch of class, organisation, support shows what anyone can achieve. It's just remarkable that this time last year , we were rock bottom, 7 points from safety. Truly remarkable, that's why those Southampton fans clapped and cheered. We give hope to all football fans. I hope we achieve the impossible dream.....
Koke Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Southampton a club is similar to us in many ways. Similar size, similar fan base and identical stadium but fair play to them. If they were top of the league and we were 7th I'd definitely want them to win the title as well.
Wizerud Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Don't worry, in four months time at the start of next season everyone will be hating us again. Enjoy it/restrain the cringing while it lasts.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 The whole thing feels special. It's a special moment in time. The end is likely nigh. Keep thinking this Or Claudio made a pact with the big man upstairs!
ajthefox Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 It's nice of them and I appreciate it, particularly given we're very similar clubs who were both down in league 1 not too long ago, but if it was the other way round I'd never be singing a chant for them.
EnglishOxide Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 A nice little gesture. Nothing wrong with it. It felt like the Cheltenham game back in League One where there was a mutual respect and no ill feeling!
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 so wrong what has happened to football fans in this country. can't wait til fenerbache away when they all try to set us on fire like the old days.
Harry - LCFC Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 I've enjoyed the 'good luck' comments from other fans but seeing them almost celebrate a win of ours (and their defeat) just seems weird.
Babylon Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 so wrong what has happened to football fans in this country. can't wait til fenerbache away when they all try to set us on fire like the old days.Ha ha Brilliant.
stripeyfox Posted 4 April 2016 Author Posted 4 April 2016 I've enjoyed the 'good luck' comments from other fans but seeing them almost celebrate a win of ours (and their defeat) just seems weird. We're all Leicester fans now. Wouldn't suprise me to see David Cameron wearing a City shirt along with A Downing Street statement that he has "always been a fan"
FoxInTheBirstallBox Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 It does feel special, but it just proves a point that everyone hates spuds and arse!
