Champions League in the bag!

One if the biggest clubs who never actually achieve anything, or progress.

I'm delighted, I'm proud, I'm every single happy emotion you can think of that we've joined the elite of European football, it's fantastic, but to get so emotional you'll cry, please. That should be happening when you see your captain lift a trophy, not when you've qualified for a competition, no matter how big that competition is.

Nah, not having you there Facey.

I don't remember anyone crying when Matty Oakley lifted the League One trophy.

We're in a position that we've never been in before. The Champions League is monumental, we should be massively chuffed and I won't blame anyone for having a quiet tear when that music comes belting through the speakers down Filbert Way.

In tears? Really? I'll be in tears if we win the league, but we've won nothing yet. Let's not become Arsenal and treat qualification as a trophy. I'm delighted the club has managed this, and I'll be delighted if we keep doing it, but I'm not going to be an emotional wreak until we actually have silverware in our hands.

Winning the league will obviously be a much bigger achievement than qualifying for the Champions League.

But yes, seeing City play a home game in Europe's premier competition, and the best club competition in the world, it will be emotional.

I grew up watching these games on ITV on weeknights when the hopes of English clubs rested on a Manchester United team that was clearly nowhere near the quality of the top European sides. When Galatasaray were real threat. Way before Utd's treble in 1999.

We may have got used to seeing sides like Arsenal cheapen the competition by regularly qualifying for it then regularly spunking their place in it away by getting knocked out in typical meek fashion (their final against Barcelona not included).

But for me, this is a competition of real prestige. I've dreamed of Leicester winning the league and I've dreamed of seeing us playing in the Champions League. It will be a wonderful moment.

Are the league winners still pot one if Man City win the league?

With Arsenal playing Man City next week we are virtually guaranteed automatic qualification. Mental.

We don't want Liverpool to win the Europa League as that will cost us about £20m if there are 5 English teams in the group stage, whereas if the English qualifiers don't make it and there are only 3 English teams we will earn an extra £20m

Pretty sure you mean if Man City win CL, and yes. Russia's winner drops out of Pot 1 IIRC.

Still a bit confused. Have we definitely qualified or might we have to play qualifiers? I know we can't finish outside top four but with this year's Champion's League and Europa League etc. it's still unclear for me. Please can someone clarify? Thanks.

Qualifiers right now, but c'mon, that isn't going to happen, we'll be pot 1.

Qualifiers for now.

1st to 3rd get group stage, 4th get qualifiers. Man City are 15 points behind with 18 to play for, so we could still finish fourth - meaning all we've confirmed is the final round of qualifiers, but a win next week if Man City fail to win their game would confirm top three and in at the group stages.

Pot 2 almost nailed on afaic

Nah, Pot 1 is champions, Pots 2/3/4 is everyone else based on club coefficients. We don't have a coefficient because it's based on the last five seasons, so we'd be in pot 4 unless we win the league, in which case we'd be pot one.

Top three qualify automatically. Arsenal can finish with 77 at the moment and Man City 75 if they win all their games. However they play each other so one or both will drop points so in effect we need one more win (taking us to 75) to guarantee at least 3rd and not needing a qualifier.

Spurs are probably the best team I n the league right now. On quality of play. They were never going to roll over. And clearly won't. We have to see this through via our own efforts as they are going to destroy opposition for rest of season. Weird - qualifying for CL is immense. But if I'm honest, I don't feel anything towards it. It's all about seeing this title chase through.

I don't get comments like this. They make absolutely no sense. If they're the best team in the league why are they trailing us by 7 points?

Bad performance today but some people are disrespecting us based on that and not giving us credit for all the swashbuckling, quality football we've played this season.

if spurs were 7 points ahead they might take a more "stifled" approach too.

they've always been chasing. they need to win so of course theyre likely to play more attractive football.

I want to do all six group games at least. Seriously even if we're handed Zenit I want to do it. Might be my only ever chance.
