Can't believe this has happened way to fuc king easy no fight at all I'm livid about this.... Small club mentality ffs

With a release clause it pretty much is down to the player himself... this looks like it is happening but it isn't certain just yet. The club can offer a new contract and have a word to install confidence in us staying competitive but that is it

The loss of Vardy even if it was just next season will be HUGE, he is on top of his game and our team plays around him.

He needs to have a long hard think, yea he could go to Arsenal now make 5-10million possibly with the deal, then in a couple of years he will be released and forgotten about and the Arsenal fans wouldn't give a shit.

OR.

He could stay with Leicester, get his 120-140k a week, still be the star player, compete at the highest level and be loved by the fans for ever making him a legend. Not only that but he has a good relationship with the owners who would make sure he is comfortable for the rest of his life.

Vardy it's down to you, hero or zero within one to two years.

just checked ceefax, it's not looking good

heskey's off to liverpool apparently

Just read the article next to it, great news is that we're after the next great thing in management with Peter Taylor. Who cares about Heskey, imagine the quality of young European players he will bring in after seeing them play in the U21's versus England.

Lads I'm going to predict the next decade of 2001-2010 will be awesome.

Makes a very good point. Vardy is a very average player in a system not set up specifically to suit his very particular talents. I suspect he will disappear quickly without trace at arsenal. Oh well at least he'll be very rich and be able to buy loads more overpriced tasteless tat for his chav mansion.

Have a word. He's a great finisher, scares defences and some of his passing and link up play has been phenomenal. Just because he is linked with, and may sign for another club doesn't alter that.

Going to Arsenal may seem like a great idea now in this moment but think a bit further down the line it could cripple him compared to what he could have staying here.

How would he leave without our say so?

We still had the whip hand, if he refused what we offered then he was still contracted to the club on 40k a week for 2.5 years and well into his 30's.

Obviously it's not ideal to have an unhappy player but he has far more to lose from downing tools than what we had.

We could easily have insisted that he didn't have a release clause or made it that high that we would get a good deal if he left. Just because we wanted to keep him it doesn't mean that we had to write a "blank cheque". If he was 24 and 18months left on his contract then he is coming from a position of strength but last January the club had all the power, not Vardy.

So in January we had won nothing. The odds were that we were going to win nothing too. So are you telling me that if Arsenal or Chelsea etc show an interest in a player nearing 30 and we turn it down, he is not going to be affected? Earning 40k a week with 2.5 years left at a smaller club or 120k for 4 years at a Champions League club?

We could have obviously just said no and had an unhappy player. We most likely would have lost some of the team spirit at that point and not won the league.

We did not have the power in January when the big clubs came sniffing. We did the best thing we probably could at that point to keep everyone happy, so we could go on to win the league.

I can't blame Vardy, the chance to work with Arsenal's famed fitness and medical team doesn't come around very often. Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott, Thomas Rosicky and The Ox will all tell you that. They are especially adept at getting the best out of pacey players.

If he's really lucky he'll only have to play a maximum 15 games next season. Cushtee.

Don't mind if he actually leaves, has been a great servent to the club and he's repaid what he's owed us for taking him in to the big time. Can't blame him or his agent for wanting more money, 29 yo missed out 7-8 years playing non-league football, it's totally understandable. Would say it's more of a move to have Leicester up his contract a bit, I don't think for a minute he actually wants to leave he seems like the most loyal of people around.

He knows that we've built around him, and play to him and his (our) strengths. If he does actually move to Arsenal it would be a laughable backward step in to sideways possession based boring football. He's better off going to play for Mou's Man U.

Arsenal are really the most annoying bastard club going.

OMG - how can some of you not get your heads around the low buyout clause?

Imagine you are vardy or his agent in Feb negotiating the contract

Your value is 30mill. If the buyout is that high then the club get all the benefit of a sale. if the buyout is low, you can demand the difference in a signing on fee. arsenal aren't getting him on the cheap. They will have to stump up the difference between the buyout and his value. Now if the club are prepared to pay you the going rate for your talents over four years (around 120 k per week) then the club are entitled to the whole 30 mill or higher. If the club will only pay you 80k then set a low buyout. Infact, you could even propose this as your contract knowing that someone would probably want you at the end of the season.

I'd be stunned if any of the current squad were booed should they leave. You don't habitually single out opposition players and boo them unless you feel they've slighted your club in some way or other, so to reserve that treatment for any of the players who achieved the greatest thing that any City players have ever achieved would be appalling.

If he leaves then the best of luck to him, preferably not at our expense, but if someone chose to boo Kante, Mahrez or Vardy - perhaps the three players who did the most for us in our whole history - then I think that would be incredibly divisive. I think he'll probably stay, but everyone leaves in the end, either because we don't want them any more or they don't want us any more, so I hope we can enjoy the memories of what they did for us, and look forward to whoever we get in to replace them.

And the decision in some cases will be understandable. We don't want to shatter our financial structure, other clubs may be able to offer some of these men a deal which is the difference between them being rich now and potentially well off forever, and being absolutely super-rich for the rest of their days. In Vardy's case, it's probably the last chance for such a deal, and after four magnificent years of service for Leicester, so why would we begrudge him that?

Leicester will always hold a special place in the hearts of these players, no matter what they go on to achieve elsewhere. That means a lot to me and it would be desperately sad for fans who wished Lineker and Smith well after they left, or Heskey,  O'Neill, or Izzet after he requested a transfer in 2001, or Cambiasso, to turn on our best ever players to such an extent that the love was no longer there.

I almost certainly would suck off a chimp for 20k a week.

Literally cripple him given their injury record.

I'd let a chimp bum me without lube and shit on my chest for £20k a week.

Getting 20 million for a player we have had for four years who cost one million is good business but it would be really annoying selling one if our best players to a rival who clearly want to weaken us before next season arsenal are just so jealous of what we did in one season what they haven't achieved in over a decade they took one of our scouts because they couldn't find any of their own players then tried to tap up mahrez and Kante their obsession with us is getting stalker like

Posted

the thing for me is that you dont know what he knows ? players talk and for all we know kante and mahrez have told him there off and he thinks wtf i aint going to be left on my own fighting a losing battle .

musa is the ideal replacement and i feel amartey has been brought in for kante early to adjust to england and its obvious although a litte under developed at the moment gray is mahrez replacement

as long as we keep the defence together which was excellent i think we might survive

although 20m is dogshit  if he played for man city or utd or a big team abroad they would be talking 50 or 60 m     :(

He is on 80k here

He is after he signed the contract with the £20m release clause. Before that he was on 40k like I said.
