st albans fox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Will vardy boulevard now have to be ' vardy close' ?
Koke Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Robbie seems keen on Vardy. He said he did a poll asking Arsenal fans if they want Vardy. It was 70-30 in favour of wanting Vardy. The more I think about the more sense it makes considering Wenger doesnt wanna pay £60m for Aubameyang or Lukaku.
st albans fox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 If we have to match it then that shows money is the deciding factor. Unless we are miles away from that figure. If the choice was 100k or 130k I genuinely would rather stay where I am loved and settled rather than take the extra money. And the signing on fee of around 10 m??
The Guvnor Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Fcuking hell this is ridiculous bordering on mass hysteria has it actually been confirmed he is leaving, no, get a fcuking grip.
Riot Van Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 If we have to match it then that shows money is the deciding factor. Unless we are miles away from that figure. If the choice was 100k or 130k I genuinely would rather stay where I am loved and settled rather than take the extra money. Not true, if I was a pro footballer I would rather play football for Arsenal than Leicester.
ealingfox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Exactly. Ridiculous to say we can't judge him based on the fact that we'd do a lot of things to get 20k a week extra. Most of us take most of the year to make that. There's no valid comparison there.
LCFC FOX Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Please please please don't boo him if he does leave. He's been a great servant to us and we should respect that. Why make him hate us. I can just see it. We boo him, chant "Leicester reject" etc then he scores and go wild in front of our fans. Please let me be wrong. I just hope he stays
HankMarvin Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 OMG - how can some of you not get your heads around the low buyout clause? Imagine you are vardy or his agent in Feb negotiating the contract Your value is 30mill. If the buyout is that high then the club get all the benefit of a sale. if the buyout is low, you can demand the difference in a signing on fee. arsenal aren't getting him on the cheap. They will have to stump up the difference between the buyout and his value. Now if the club are prepared to pay you the going rate for your talents over four years (around 120 k per week) then the club are entitled to the whole 30 mill or higher. If the club will only pay you 80k then set a low buyout. Infact, you could even propose this as your contract knowing that someone would probably want you at the end of the season. But he had an existing contract with no buyout the power of negotiation was with the club
catfordfox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Make no mistake this is a very serious bid from Arsenal. They're offering him £130,000 a week. We need to match that to make him stay. theyve lost their minds if theyre offering him a four year deal on that money. He's not worth that to them, certainly not in a year or two when his pace drops a bit (not to mention the classic arsenal injury that he will undoubtedly pick up in a couple of months of the move). If that's what he's demanding, probably best to let him go and bring a couple of younger players in the same mould but with more adaptibility. Vardy is unplayable in one particular system, but he's not when he has to play in a slightly different way - im not convinced that the way we played for most of last year will work next season anyway, certainly not in the champions league
Finn Claw II Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 We push his salary north of £100k and Mahrez, Drinky, Kante and Kasper would be well with their rights to ask for more.
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Make no mistake this is a very serious bid from Arsenal. They're offering him £130,000 a week. We need to match that to make him stay. Would you say he'd stay if we did match that salary or is it more about moving to a 'bigger club'?
The whole world smiles Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 He's spent a huge chunk of his career earning next to nothing in non leauge how can you blame him for wanting to maximise his warnings for the last few years of his career.
brookfox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Very astute signing by Arsenal. With him and Xhaka they've pretty much guaranteed a 2-4th finish next season. Kudos Arsene!
ramboacdc Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Think we're all missing the point here lads... Will this get to 100 pages before he goes to arsenal? Finally someone is asking the big questions!
Larry_LCFC Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 I'm sure in the short term, the bright lights of London and the chance to play for arsenal on a ridiculous wage seem too much for him to turn down. On paper it seems great. What he needs to be adult to realise is that long term, this is probably a really shitty move. There is no chance he will be able to play at Arsenal like he does here. They won't change their whole style just to suit him and yet he'll still be expected to score 20+ goals. The fans won't be patient. It's just a horrible club in general.
ramboacdc Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Make no mistake this is a very serious bid from Arsenal. They're offering him £130,000 a week. We need to match that to make him stay. I forget...is Bert the one itk?
Buzzell Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Very astute signing by Arsenal. With him and Xhaka they've pretty much guaranteed a 2-4th finish next season. Kudos Arsene! All they need now is Kante and Mahrez to secure Champions status.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Exactly. Ridiculous to say we can't judge him based on the fact that we'd do a lot of things to get 20k a week extra. Most of us take most of the year to make that. There's no valid comparison there. I suppose it is like this, stay at a place you love and doing great and earn £200 less a month or go to a big company where you are smaller fish and have much bigger pressure on your shoulders but only earning 200 more...
marko Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Think we're all missing the point here lads... Will this get to 100 pages before he goes to arsenal? Nah, he can only dream of reaching Nicky Maynard levels of forum inches!
Sharpe's Fox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 I reckon there are bigger things going on here. Hollywood are looking to stretch his film out to a Star Wars-esque saga: Ep 1. Qui Gon Walsh discovers Vardy in the desolate North West. Ep 2. Obi Wan Kenigel trains Vardy to believe in his ability. Ep. 3. Raniyoda creates the greatest striker in Leicester history, but he betrays him by going to the red side. Ep 4. Vardy's protege Jeff Schluppwalker beats the red side by destroying the Death Emirates. Ep 5. Vardy tries to persuade Scluppwalker to join him but is refused. Vardy retaliates by giving him the same injury he received, a sprained wrist. Ep 6. Vardy finally sees the light and throws the evil Emwenger off the corporate box at the new Death Emirates. More movies more money people.
LJS Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Bollocks to paying out £130k a week. For what? Plenty on here should remember the shit we got into chasing the dream just over a decade ago. The difference this time is that we've already achieved the dream. Let him go. A club our size is only ever a single bad decision away from relegation. Imagine going down paying that kind of money out? We'd be utterly ****ed. No thanks.
Fox92 Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Said it before and got shotdown by some but I wouldn't pay 100k for any player to be here. We're not a club to be doing that.
MC Prussian Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 That house argument is daft. Not getting further into it.. And that's what i initially was saying re Vardy. We surely haven't put in such a low clause now.. It must have rolled over from the previous contract as a pre requisite. I'm basing his £30m value on the fact teams like WBA rejected £25m for Berahino, we were supposedly quoted £25m for Shane Long etc etc. I know none of us know for sure but also he's english and playing in the Premier League. That normally inflates prices and inflates what teams will pay. Therefore it's just gutting he is going to leave for £20m and to suggest he's not worth £30m in this current market is wrong IMO Well, you brought the house argument up in the first place! Comparing footballers' values with the housing market is like taking a duck and saying it's a dog.Fact is, no matter how much you bang on about Vardy being a £30m+ player, the club have a £20m release clause in effect and that's how they rate him.
