foxes_rule1978 Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 He is after he signed the contract with the £20m release clause. Before that he was on 40k like I said. So he is on 80k for the remainder of his contract... you were comparing 40k to 120/140 k which it isn't it is 80k and we might have been able to push his wages up even more..
BlueBoy1 Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 If he goes, I hope he gets the abuse it deserves when he plays us again. Pure greed
ScouseFox76 Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 This is what I find strange. Vardy in January had 2.5 years left on his contract and on 40k a week with probably no release clause. We extended his contract by one more year and doubled his wages, he's in no position to demand a relatively low release clause, we had the whip hand at the negotiation table. If he insisted on it we could say no deal and he'd be here now on 40k a week, two years left on his contract and no release clause. We could have easily forced this through without a low release clause or put in a very high one like £35m. I'm dubious there is a release clause because of this. This...
sphericalfox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 https://twitter.com/SteveWalsh5/status/739070142051672064 Looks like it's for reals, fo sure.
Fox92 Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 If he did leave us for Arsenal then I would never applaud him. EVER This is why you have to respect players like Terry, Lampard and Gerard. Terry, Lampard and Gerrard played consistently at the top end of the league. They've all won European Cups, multiple FA Cups and League Cups and for Terry and Lampard multiple league titles too. There is no comparison and to suggest you'd never applaud a player that helped us win the top flight is ridiculous.
Matt Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Looks like it's for reals, fo sure. "Make him happy"? What the fuck has he got to be unhappy with?!
Guest LCFC_World Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 He's on 80K a week. That's crazy money already. Anyone saying "you would take another 20K a week"... I wouldn't if I were in his position. He's at a club that loves him. He helped make history at this club, and could go down as a club and premier league legend. Why would he want to throw that away? So no, he doesn't need that extra 20K, he's got more than you and me to support his family already.

yorkie1999 Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Are any other clubs allowed to up the 20 million if arsenal have activated a buy out contract clause. If they are, surely we should be offering him to other clubs for more money. Although, still think it's a load of bollox.
whoareyaaa Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 For all we know the agent could just be trying to get another payday from lcfc as he knows how valuable he is.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 "Make him happy"? What the fuck has he got to be unhappy with?! I suppose they mean make him more happy
stripeyfox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Jamie has an important choice to make. He is settled here but really be is facing the same choice we all do when leaving one job for another. There's lots to consider, money, prospects, relocation, is the new "company" going to be a success, family aspirations. He may be thinking that as we have just won the league, that we are not likely to do so again and therefore a move an "elite" club who finished 2nd in a high profile city complete with a massive payrise is a decent move
Happy Fox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Sounds promising... seems we will be doing our best to keep him of course As Ranieri said he only wants players that are happy here and are committed to fighting for the LCFC cause.
Bert Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Make no mistake this is a very serious bid from Arsenal. They're offering him £130,000 a week. We need to match that to make him stay.

We cant reject 20m so why would anyone bid up!
Viva Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 So he is on 80k for the remainder of his contract... you were comparing 40k to 120/140 k which it isn't it is 80k and we might have been able to push his wages up even more.. My point was quite simple. I replied to someone stating that we had all the power in January. He was on 40k a week then and we could have said he is not going anywhere. He signed a contract for 80k a week with the release clause. He would likely not have signed long term if we hadn't put that clause in.
Fox 4 Life Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 We won't offer that, I think we could push 100k but 130 is huge We can afford it though so why not. He is pivotal to how we play so he's worth it
SemperEadem Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 We shouldnt be paying that sort of wage for any player. It is above our station and money like that can see it all falling down.

Okay I understand should have read the initial comment , I just hope he stays but this looks unlikely... but I want our club to do everything they can to try to keep him.
Filbert_Ross Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 They would just match it and Vardy can then choose. We cant reject 20m so why would anyone bid up! Apparently 20mill is for teams in Champions league. Likes of West Brom & Liverpool would have to get a bid accepted.
Riot Van Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Think we're all missing the point here lads... Will this get to 100 pages before he goes to arsenal?
RowlattsFox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 If we have to match it then that shows money is the deciding factor. Unless we are miles away from that figure. If the choice was 100k or 130k I genuinely would rather stay where I am loved and settled rather than take the extra money.
