Alex_LCFC Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 According to sky sports, Nige wants to take them both to Derby
Callabinho Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 De Laet I'll drop off...but it's sad to see James as he is now, I think his playing days for us are over.
katieakita Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Looks like RDL is finished here so a sale for him and a loan for Matty James, James needs a good pre season and game time. Pearson Knows him and will look after him. Matty James needs to be playing regular football after so long out so why not up the road.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Great players for us and I wouldn't mind either staying to be honest. If they want to join Nige fair play will wish them all the best and clap their names if read over the tannoy.
TheMightySystem Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 James I think will benefit from a loan to get consistent game time after being out for a year, cant risk losing more time on the bench until/if Kante/Drinkwater are injured/ Drop form. De Laet sadly wont cut it for our game style plus we have Amartey who I would much rather give game minutes to. Sell.
lgfualol Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Not surprising. Both good Championship players. Just hope we get some £££££
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Not overly surprised if true. I can see De Laet moving on as I'm not sure if he will get too much game time next season unless of course we utilize him in PL/European matches. James is only 24 so still has time to develop in the top flight under Ranieri & his coaching staff. But, if both or one of them were to move on I wouldn't resent them. Pearson is a very good manager as we all know, with a fresh challenge and with a club who have ambitions similar to what we had in the Championship. De Laet and James are proven successful players in the Championship, so for Derby to potentially sign both of them would be great signings. Not forgetting they've both had some game experience of playing in the Premier League too.
Guest kristianity77 Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Yep De Laet I wouldn't be too fussed to see sold. James I'd much rather was loaned out. Give him a season at Derby and then see what the situation is next summer. James is more than good enough (when fit) to be a solid squad player for us and he does have time on his side.
Wymsey Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Shows how far we've come. Remember some being happy with having both in team. But, unfortunately, more so for De Laet, they've been victims of the club's success but wish them well.
UPinCarolina Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 I don't see why we can't put them both on loan with the right to purchase being made available to Derby. I'd rather they get regular game time. If we're really worried, we can reevaluate the loan in January.
the_tank Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Reeks of lazy journalism. Do Sky quote FoxesTalk poll as their source?
Kitchandro Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 De Laet makes sense. James would be a real shame, I think we should at least try and get him fit and see how he does. There's no reason he can't compete with Inler & King.
weller54 Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Cannot see James getting in the side again to be honest.. We've moved on!
wattolcfc Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Didn't think James was that good in our side that stayed up, marked space, didn't do a lot and missed some great chances, so now we're aiming higher I don't think he'll get a look in. £2m for the pair would be some good business for us.
LegendOfJoe Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 De Laet more than happy to let go, but can't help but want to see James in our new system - see how he shapes up
TheSomersetFox Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Didn't think James was that good in our side that stayed up, marked space, didn't do a lot and missed some great chances, so now we're aiming higher I don't think he'll get a look in. £2m for the pair would be some good business for us. Drinky wasn't that good in the year we stayed up either, and James was keeping him out the team back then too. He's well worth another year imo
Koke Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 De Laet isn't good enough for the Premier League. Matty James' days are numbered here as well I'm afraid. Decent enough player but we've moved on.
chicagofox Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 I'd be happy to see them both go. Marty James is behind Drinkwater, Kante, and King. And with supposed interest in Nzonzi and links to others it seems likely we will strengthen the midfield.
Buzzell Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 James would be a good option off the bench. He's better than Inler for a start and on par with King when he's fit but I can't see him breaking into the side. Wouldn't be suprised to see them both go. We've improved so much since they've been out of the squad.
gurru991 Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 I don't believe Richie De Laet has a future with us & will be heading some where for sure but Matty James at 24 still has a ton of upside. A loan to the Championship to get his game back would be good business for us.
MGLCFC Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Matty was ahead of Drinky the season before last and if he can make the progress Drinky has this year, then he would be worth keeping. I'd rather he go out on loan to derby for a year and make a decision then. We may need him in 12 months time if we have an average season next time around and some of the stars wish to leave.
