Koke Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 James was ahead of Drinkwater last year and had he not get injured I suspect it might have been a James/Kante midfield partnership. Who knows. De Laet just isn't good enough at this level. I wonder how much we'd get for him.
theessexfox Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Wow people far too quick to write off James, he had a good season when we won the Championship and looked accomplished in the Premier League, I'd like to see him given a chance when fit, seems like a great character too.

James has to have a creative player alongside him.

4everfox Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Matty James is a quality player who with good coaching could be at the same level as DD. Get him out on a short term loan & see how he does. Not sure if Pearson would be the ideal coach to work with James though. He doesn't have a great track record of improving players !!! Liam Moore, Andy King and Jamie Vardy to name just three who he has a good track record of improving.
FireFox Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 De Laet is good enough for the Prem in a side with attacking full backs. Unless he really wants to stay local and work with Pearson again, it doesn't seem like a great move.
LCCFox96 Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 De Laet I'd sell. James I'd like to see stay for another year, have us further help his recovery and get some game time either with us or out on loan.
gurru991 Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Liam Moore, Andy King and Jamie Vardy to name just three who he has a good track record of improving. Really not sure that he was responsible for developing any of those three
TJB-fox Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 NP not capable of developing players-ay?? Morgan Dyer Drinkwater Vardy to name a few went to the next level under him. Did the same in his previous tenure with both Hobbs, Morrison, Fryatt etc
Corky Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 I'd persevere with James, he might improve under Ranieri. De Laet will be off and hopefully we can get a decent fee for him.
RowlattsFox Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Derby need a lot things but I don't think a central midfielder is one of them so I don't see James going there. If anyone, he might try and resurrect Liam moore's career though.
stevelcfc Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Is Matty James the first player ever to have got worse in peoples opinions through being out of the team?
Foxxed Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 I'd be great if we could loan out Liam Moore. I'd love to see him playing for us, but with Huth, Morgan, Herandez, Amartey (I'm assuming he may play CB?) and Benny I'm not sure how much experience he'll get. Although I think Benny will be gone during AFCON at least, if he doesn't go to Florentia permanently, since Sky reported they have that option, although wiki seems to think he played no games there last season and is still injured, so who knows.

I recon the odds on Benny going to Fiorentina must be pretty much 0 as they were pissed that he didn't make a single appearance. Wouldn't surprise me to see him go back to Atalanta though.
Foxxed Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 If Benny does go, with only Huth, Morgan, Herandez, Amartey as CBs if we don't buy someone else, Moore may be wanted, and we lose Amartey to AFCON too. I'd like Benny to stay personally.
Koke Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 I'm not sure Liam Moore can cut it at this level yet. He's 23 and he seemingly hasn't developed.
Dan Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 I don't see Moore ever playing for us again. He's stagnated.
AKCJ Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Is Matty James the first player ever to have got worse in peoples opinions through being out of the team? Nobody thinks of him as a worse player. But he wasn't ever at the level we now need in a player and he's had multiple horrible injuries. A move to Derby would be good for him, Leicester and Derby. While I would love it if he could step up like Drinkwater has, I just don't see it.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Haha people are seriously saying Nige didn't improve players? Some Japan level history rewriting going on on FT today.
4everfox Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Really not sure that he was responsible for developing any of those three Liam Moore was developed through the academy whilst Pearson was manager and the same can be said for Andy King. Jamie Vardy was ready to quit after one season at Leicester, the next season we won the Championship and he scored 16 or 17 goals. Ranieri may have improved them even further but Pearson absolutely certainly improved them initially. Schlupp as well.
Koke Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 Pearson got a tune out Michael Morrison, Wayne Brown, Martyn Waghorn, Chris Weale, Paul Gallagher and Jack Hobbs. We nearly got promoted to the Premier League with these journeymen, and some people say Pearson didn't improve players. I also think Pearson and the scouting staff aren't given enough credit for plucking Michael Morrison from non league and turning him into a stable Championship player.
thybluefox Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 De Last has served us well - but he's just not good enough for us now. Feel really sorry for James. I'd love him to stay and start playing again but anyone new that comes into that midfield (and I count him as new because he's not played since our midfield has progressed so much) needs to be that next level. I'm talking Kante quality - and I just don't think James would be able to step up to it, especially after a year out.
theessexfox Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 I'll drive De Laet Off a cliff. ****ing hell man you know we won the Championship with him right?
Carl the Llama Posted 30 May 2016 Posted 30 May 2016 I'd like to put this thread down to people getting inflated egos over the league win but the fact is we've always had these idiotic discussions about Pearson and now apparently one of our best CMs in recent history who just happens to have been usurped during his injury by imo the best CM we've ever had and Drinkwater finding his element this season. Plus ca change...
