Every time he got it though he wasted it, I can't have that as someone having a good game. It drives me nuts, but I can usually tell if he's going to play well within the opening 10 mins. When he's effective, he's one of my favourite PL players of all time as he's everywhere but when he's bad he stinks the gaff up.

He'll come good. You perfectly described him a few days ago. He's erratic and can have either a blinder or a howler. For the moment he can't expect more than being a "supersub" but I'm fairly certain that his performanece will take a more regular path under Puel. The frenchman seems to know how to deal with flair players. Give him a bit of time.

Over rated.

He's a wanna be Mahrez but is now where near that match winning player.

He's gone proper off the boil for some reason. No goals/assists in a while. Shouldnt write him off, but if he is Mahrez's replacement in the Summer I would worry.

He's not gone off the boil, this is just what he's always been like. I think half of his goals have been via massive deflections by an opposition player. Even then it's not a great goal/assist ratio for the minutes he gets.

He does have some use to us - being positive with the ball and getting into the final third (then it all goes to shit, but if he passes the ball to someone else at that point it's useful). Gives us a different dimension which sometimes changes the game because no one else is doing it. Not to mention he's one of only 3 proper wingers in our squad, so injury cover and all. Unfortunately for him, there's a more effective overall player in each of the positions he can play in - Albrighton/Mahrez on wings and Okazaki in 10. He'll just have to continue playing 30 mins each game and posting cryptic instagram messages now that he's signed a long term deal.

He rarely plays well for us when starting a PL game, but is generally good as a PL sub or starting against a team from a lower league. His highlights always look really impressive, although a lot of it seems to consist of beautiful curling shots from just outside the box which go just wide/hits the woodwork/are right at the keeper. He's good enough to start in a low mid table PL team though.

I think we need some patience with Gray.

Should he have the brains to learn and adapt, I'm sure Puel and Co., as well as his teammates, will improve his end product.

My slight worry is that we see less of him flying by players and attempting the cross/shot/through ball.

Maybe the opposition are starting to suss him out and get close to him before he gets the ball or maybe his confidence is dented after being dropped to the bench again.

I wonder why e.g. against Watford after Vardy went off, Gray wasn't used as the front man instead of Mahrez.

Obviously Mahrez scored, so it's a moot point, but wouldn't we want a pacey attacker with fresh legs in that position in general?

he isn't a flair player, he's more in the brackets of sanchez and salah, a forward disguised as a winger.

if he wants to improve his game, he should watch some salah videos, gray has all the physical attributes but his positioning is subpar.

he had a fairly short cameo where he did nothing wrong and went out of his way to not be selfish when in possession, only on FoxesTalk would that be turned into more "he's shit get rid" posts

Sorry Ric but I thought he had a good game ...   I know he keeps falling on his arse ..   but ..   he also kept winning the ball and was only one of a few players that swivelled round and went forward instead of the always easy pass backwards ...

I'm sorry but as much as I appreciate Shinji, his defensive work and I understand why he's regularly starting, he's a waste when it comes to going forward. His finishing is terrible for a (supporting) striker and he just can't stay on his feet. He was absolutely infuriating against Watford.

He might be a good at holding the ball somewhat, but I just don't buy this "he links up well". He can give the one odd good pass from time to time (the nice one-two with Mahrez against the latest game against Chelsea springs to mind) but he's generally a dead end as soon as the ball comes at his feet in the last third. Defenders don't give a damn about him and can entirely focus on either Vardy, Mahrez or Albrighton. 1 assist in his whole career at Leicester says volumes and the sooner we can upgrade on him the better.

Back to Gray, well you'll always have people who don't like him and will take pleasure at tearing him apart but the fact is that after a good start in Puel's first games he went AWOL since december and lost his place to Albrighton/Shinji. Fair and square.

I rate him and still think he can into a fine winger but he's actually no more than an impact sub. Puel gave him his chance from the get go and he kinda blew it. I'm fairly certain that the Manager will improve him and that we'll see him more often this season.

Shinji is the most infuriating footballer, ever. Demari Grey will never be great. Ever.

Leicester have more than their fair share of duds that is for sure. Is it trained out of them when they get here because I can't believe that 70% of recent acquisitions were bought on the displays they are showing with us?

Maybe it's true, that the Fab 4 pick the team and run the club!

Well Nige liked him ...   Ranieri liked him ...     Shakey liked him !! ...    oh, and it seems like Claude likes him !!! ......      and how long have we been looking, and how much money has been spent, to find an alternative and competition for his place ??        VERY underrated ...     especially on here.

And I haven't forgotten he falls over on a fairly regular basis ...   but have you forgotten some of the cracking goals he's scored.    :)

No doubt, but he is a 7 day a weeker for LCFC, if not playing football he's getting his photo taken for the merchandise department or signing footballs at fan gatherings and I bet all for about 10k a week too!  Who wouldn't like him?

I don't take Shakey as credible reference as manager and, as far as I can remember, one of the first things Puel did when he came was to drop him. He came again in the starting XI as Gray's form progressively declined and Puel saw that Mahrez is no CAM. He's playing, like Amartey last year, because there is no alternative and I'd be highly surprised if we don't sign someone in that position this summer.  We lost money because we signed pure strikers and persisted to give them the wrong tasks.

Look, as I already said, I rate him highly when it comes to committment, work rate, defense and smiling, but he's certainly not a better striker than Nacho or even Slim. And sorry that's not his X-Files worthy goals once every blue moon which are going to convince me otherwise.

Anyways I went off topic and if you want to discuss further I'd suggest we'd do it in the slating thread I'll open for him. I noticed he doesn't have one, which is criminal by FT's standards.

Entirely agree with you Rick, when hes good hes outstanding but when hes bad hes on his arse more than his feet.

I've got a feeling he could lose his place in the team to Diabete over the course of the season.

Puel is talking very highly of him already.

Demarai needs to keep knuckling down and grafting like Albrighton does to stay in the managers thoughts.

Wise words for a Shinji-san denier. Doe tread carefully. We the people of Okazakhstan are watching you

I’d like to see him in the Vardy role.

Interesting idea, not sure he has the instincts to play as a 9 though
