Trav Le Bleu Posted 2 November 2016 Posted 2 November 2016 All those people saying, "we should have beat them easy", just like to point out that they are unbeaten at home for over a year. No doubt other teams will think the same on visiting the KP.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 2 November 2016 Posted 2 November 2016 Well earned point in Copenhagen, the knockout stages beckon.
Sublime_Coatsworth Posted 2 November 2016 Posted 2 November 2016 Not a great performance but we did a job tonight. We top our group in the fvcking Champions League after four games and are clear favourites to go through to the knock out stages. oh and Spurs lost again. Great fvcking night!
MC Prussian Posted 3 November 2016 Posted 3 November 2016 It was a tough match to follow, with few chances on both sides. Although I have to say, Copenhagen should've edged it by one with all the effort they put in going forward. An unspectacular and somewhat dull affair with little love, flair or life from Leicester City. Merely a job done, kept the fourth consecutive clean sheet, managed to break yet another CL record and are on the verge of qualifying for the knockout stage at the first time of asking. I'll take the result, but the performance was sketchy and the hoofball on show hard to take.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 3 November 2016 Posted 3 November 2016 would have picked Albrighton over Jeff any day of the week, really. Schlupp looked a touch lethargic for me, although maybe it is a lack of confidence, lack of regular game time etc I guess CR would have had his reasons. I'm confident we will get a result vs Brugge, so no stress.
UPinCarolina Posted 3 November 2016 Posted 3 November 2016 It sounded like, on the radio feed, that we gained some life once Shinji came on. Was that so?
lee7 Posted 3 November 2016 Posted 3 November 2016 First half we were poor. Making sloppy mistakes and poor control of the ball all over the pitch. The second half we improved but the football on show was hardly inspiring although the pitch may of had something to do with that. Vardy looks completely isolated up top trying to run onto these long balls which are not particularly accurate. It was a well earned point in the end but I'd say Copenhagen should've edged it.
Loves2spooge Posted 3 November 2016 Posted 3 November 2016 If this UCL journey thought me anything , it's that Kasper schmeichel really loves pizza , 4 clean sheets , you're going to ruin old man Claudio
GloverFox Posted 3 November 2016 Posted 3 November 2016 ... before the game I'd have taken a draw all day, and now it's done? ... Great point away from home and against a very well organised side! I don't believe the team orders were anything but intended to be workman like, frustrating to watch I agree but achieved the draw and clean sheet .... (great keepers are there to make great saves after all!) as I say .... Great point ... onwards and upwards.
TheLittleBigMan Posted 3 November 2016 Posted 3 November 2016 That'll do. Play like an Ostrich and nick a point. That's fine by me.
desertfox2 Posted 3 November 2016 Posted 3 November 2016 The best thing about that result. Ranieri in his interview before the game said he told the players. Imagine you are 1-0 up from the first leg and play like that. It was an Italian performance. Great management as he's getting us ready for knockout stages. Wasnt the best game of football but if we are going to go far we have to know how to play exactly like that.
WigstonWanderer Posted 3 November 2016 Posted 3 November 2016 Good result though unattractive to watch. Thought we were outclassed in the first half (not difficult TBF), though I don't think they had many clean cut chances even then. Second half somewhat better (a little less hoofball) but still not all that inspiring. Fantastic save again at the end from Kasper. If they could shoot better I think we'd have lost.
SheppyFox Posted 3 November 2016 Posted 3 November 2016 If schlupp had a real job he'd have been fired for incompetence.
RowlattsFox Posted 3 November 2016 Posted 3 November 2016 Woeful performance but job done as far as the group goes. we earnt the right to have a group like this but we are lucky we did. Pretty sure we'd finish bottom of nearly all the others with performances like that. Fuchs was MOM for me, seems to have found some consistency again. Morgan and Huth defended well generally dealing with the balls in the box. Going forward was embarrassing, not a clue how Musa managed to see the game out. He was diabolical.
carled Posted 3 November 2016 Posted 3 November 2016 With Mahrez, Vardy, Musa and Schlupp all starting, why are many of you convinced that the team was "there for the draw" ? It's a fairly attacking line-up, no? These sorts of performances are just like the days of Peter Taylor when we went top of the league briefly. Appalling football but got lucky with the odd snatched goal and undeserved point here and there. If Copenhagen had been better at finishing we could have lost that by several goals. We had a brief 15-20 minute spell when the midfield and forwards actually starting moving and making space and then gave up doing it again and reverted to "hoof it clear, watch it come back" football . There's no problem going away and getting a point , the problem is with the performance as that was not a team set up to get a point, it was just an inept performance from a collection of players that don't seem to gel and it does not auger well for future games. Schlupp , in very brief flashes, showed what he can do but seems to be afflicted with the same lack of confidence that has largely paralysed Vardy and Mahrez at the moment. Hopefully we'll see a return to the more recent performances at the weekend and this was just a blip, but I'm not convinced .
jaqo88 Posted 3 November 2016 Posted 3 November 2016 We missed Okazaki from the start, it is clear that we play better with him in the side. Also think that King was a miss, given how well he has been playing of late. Things just didn't seem to work today, but at the end of the day, we have kept a clean sheet away in Europe, and moved one point closer to qualification. Playing badly yet still managing to get something out of the game is not a bad thing, just need to make sure performances improve in the future.

He was hailed as one of the best prospects in the Danish League. People forget that the lad is 21. He was far, far better than Drinkwater was last night.
SpinneyHillRanger Posted 3 November 2016 Posted 3 November 2016 Even if Amartey is 21, he lacks certain attributes that time will not improve. He's slow, and can't tackle or get stuck in. Very easy to get past and doesn't really have good passing ability. I would have King in every game until mendy is back...
narboroughblue Posted 3 November 2016 Posted 3 November 2016 Pretty turgid stuff but we said on the way over we would take a point and that's what we got. Big game against Bruges next at home which could see us confirmed as table toppers. That being said there's some pretty handy sides looking like finishing 2nd so the last 16 might not see the easier draw we were hoping for. Good night out in Copenhagen after too.
ARM1968 Posted 3 November 2016 Posted 3 November 2016 Once through the group stage nothing will be easy. It wasn't last season either towards the end. Plenty of good sides dont get out of CL groups. We should now and that will be remarkable. Mind you when we win it the level of astonishment will make last seasons exploits seem like nothing.

Meh, half our players were nobodies at 21. I think he will improve, would be better in a 3 for now though but that will never happen.

Of course, any player can with game time and experience. The Amartey we are watching at the moment though is one of the worst footballers I've seen in a City shirt for some time. I said the same after seeing him about three times. His positional sense is very poor. He can't shoot for shite. His passing is generally like you would see in a five a side game (a quick sideways ball, usually to Drinkwater) and he's never gonna get you goals. Despite King's physical limitations, you get a player with an excellent footballing brain. He instinctively knows where to be, is a crisp passer of the ball and of course, can score goals if he's allowed to get forward. Fair play to Ranieri for continuing to give Amartey a chance...I think he's actually started more games this season than King? But I don't rate him at all really. The only thing he's not bad at is in the air. Aerially, he wins quite a few little battles in the central area. I say again, to push on this season I think we need a top central midfielder. Someone who can pick a pass, and can control games from the centre. If that happens and we sign such a player, I think Amartey will sit in the reserves for some time.

I don't see him day in, day out at training etc. Ian Wright didn't break out of non league till he was in his mid twenties or something, I believe? Similar with Vardy etc. I think Ranieri will continue to use Amartey at present as we don't have much choice until Mendy gets back fit (whenever that will be).
