Voll Blau Posted 21 November 2016 Posted 21 November 2016 If you're struggling to enjoy a season where we're getting a crack at competing with the best in Europe then you should probably do something else with your leisure time.
Guest Bilo Posted 21 November 2016 Posted 21 November 2016 It's all a bit 'after the Lord Mayor's Show' at the moment. We all know that last season is unlikely ever to be matched, or even come close to be matched, in the near future and we've gone back to reality. I'm personally enjoying the Champions League at the moment; it might not be the most glamorous Champions League group, but considering we were welcoming clubs like Walsall and Stockport for our midweek games and we now have Porto and Club Brugge in the world's biggest club competition, I'm quite happy to take what we have. I imagine the abysmal league form has much to do with this, and we'll all be feeling a lot more optimistic if we confirm our progress to the last 16 tomorrow night and our league form finally picks up. It certainly strikes me that the CL is forming something of a distraction at the moment, as our three pre Champions League games have been utterly horrible displays followed by three solid ones after the games.
Guest Bilo Posted 21 November 2016 Posted 21 November 2016 Just to add -we mustn't let last season give us unrealistic expectations. We don't have the finances to regularly finish top four, and probably not even top 7-8. If you'd offered us the chance of finishing midtable on a regular basis before last season, I doubt you'd have found many Leicester fans disappointed with the prospect. Personally, I think we'll pull our finger out and finish anywhere between 10th and 13th, which isn't exciting but will comfortably keep us in the PL and enable us to build towards a better position next season when we (most probably) won't have to factor in European football.
Monk Posted 21 November 2016 Posted 21 November 2016 I cannot fathom how anyone could say this is their least enjoyable season. The mind boggles. I mean - Levein, Holloway for a start let alone others. Don't even know where to start on this one .

Every home game I went knowing we'd lose - especially if we were playing Preston or Burnley. Sat though too many 0-1 away wins... We could have been relegated before we were. I enjoyed every season under Pearson, especially the League One season despite the fact we were playing at our lowest ever level. Last season was obviously the best ever - I went to 14 away games and saw us lose once - but it's poor at the minute. Even our style of play is very poor and ultimately our performances have been as bad as our results... All the way down to Watford to see us concede 30 seconds in, horrid. Yes exactly. So many plastics on here who forget where we came from. I'm pleased we are actually just back in the top tier and as thus actually have somewhat of a name. Plus home games are enjoyable with a good atmosphere and we win most of them. Anyone who thinks this is bad, brush up on your recent Leicester history, watch any home game vs any grim northern team in the 2000s where they inevitably scored at the end of the first half and we spent the 2nd half unable to create anything against a packed defence.....

So Levein etc don't really come into it. I said exactly the same at the start of the season before we'd kicked a ball as well, so it's definitely not that. I've just felt like something is missing**, It was always going to be after the lord mayors show because it was such a high last year and I expected a slow start from the team as well... but I also expected that I'd have snapped out of it by now. Other than the games I've got a ticket for ie. home games, I'm not even paying attention most of the time. ** I'm not saying anything is missing football wise, but in how I feel compared to most other seasons. I've lost a bit of interest before, but it's only ever been after years and years of utter crap. Not the best season we'll ever get. I can't get my head around it, so I don't expect others to... but that's how i feel.
los dedos Posted 21 November 2016 Posted 21 November 2016 This may sound crazy but i did'nt enjoy most of last season .Worrying that every game the bubble was going to burst. Then as it got closer to the end the realisation that if we don't win it we will probaly never be in this position.I was so damn nervous every game that i could'nt enjoy it.
Ted Maul Posted 21 November 2016 Posted 21 November 2016 There was always going to be a bit of apathy towards the league, but this season is going to be defined by the CL. We've won our first European games in over 50 years in the last couple of months. I'm still very interested in how the team are doing- it just doesn't compare to the eras where we were so used to losing that we just didn't care; having a few drinks, getting to the ground 15 minutes late knowing you wouldn't have missed anything, the whole ground sitting in silence as we did nothing for 90 minutes and conceded a soft goal to lose 1-0 to boring clubs like Plymouth who were just better than us. This season ain't so bad.
ithuriel Posted 21 November 2016 Posted 21 November 2016 Least enjoyable season was when Megson was our manager for a short period, my god it was unbearable to think where Leicester might end up and we duly got relegated for the first time ever to what is now called Div.1 but basically the third division. Still remember some guy stopping me in the street and asking how we had fallen so far as to want the ginger willy puller in charge Still can not forgive Hollowhead for trying to be so clever and messing up so mightily.
foxgas Posted 21 November 2016 Posted 21 November 2016 This season has a long way to go to beat 1968/69. Got to the FA cup final and lost but still had several games to play due to abysmal winter. Lost 4 pointer at Coventry and were relegated by one point. I still wince thinking about it.
Raj Posted 21 November 2016 Posted 21 November 2016 Hang on! Watching MOTD to see our Wes lift the trophy on the titles. The Champions League anthem playing at our little ground. Meeting fellow decent fans en route to an European City to watch out club. Having randomn folk come up to you and say how well Leicester have done in creating abit of sporting history. Seeing 30,000+ each home game... Yeah your right...give me the Holloway/Sousa/Megson/Sven days anytime!!!!
jmono84 Posted 21 November 2016 Posted 21 November 2016 For me it's bitter disappointment! I was looking forward to seeing us go to next level and make us a better squad... would never have dreamt we would be now! What happened during the summer??
Guest WarehamFox Posted 21 November 2016 Posted 21 November 2016 People do need to chill a little, win/draw tomorrow and we can put the "world's best club competition" on hold for a couple of months. Then we can get on with fighting relegation. It could be "The great escape" and Champs League success plus a FA cup run. I think some people are forgetting how good staying in the Prem was a year and a half ago. Enjoy the ride, it's the best we have had in the 35+ years since I first went to Filbo.
Donut Posted 21 November 2016 Posted 21 November 2016 I wish we could go back to losing 5-0 at home to Bolton or playing Stockport County.
SystonFox Posted 21 November 2016 Posted 21 November 2016 After reading this you're all bang on. I don't know if I can be arsed with tomorrow now. As I much preferred turning up with 20k sat in silence only to watch Burnley score just before half time, us pepper their goal second half but come nowhere near scoring and witnessing yet another 0-1 home defeat to Burnley. The 05-08 championship era was the worst, I saw some absolute dross. i find myself watching the Bocelli Nessun Dorma section on YouTube on a daily basis and I almost well up each time. Would this season still still be this bad if we didn't have last season? We had last season. Nessun Dorma
weller54 Posted 21 November 2016 Posted 21 November 2016 Last season.. 'nessun dorma ' This.. 'always look on the bright side of life! '
john ridley Posted 21 November 2016 Posted 21 November 2016 For me I think it was the Mclintock season , was used to seeing as a kid Weller , Wortho etc and now we had Davies ,an ageing Armstrong and a bunch of nobodies nobody had heard of ,still it did bring about the arrival of Jock Wallace , which for me except for last season was the best era I've seen .
Chico1958 Posted 22 November 2016 Posted 22 November 2016 1969 FA Cup Final lost 1-0 to Man City then Got Relegated. Then, I fell in love with the Team that would cause me so much pain and joy for 47 years. Next up, Peter Taylors abysmal attempt to take over from the First God of Filbert Street. Relegation to the Third Tier, along with the resurrection of another Immortal. We'll see how this one pans out but it's brought me down to earth with bump so far. The joy and pain of supporting this club never fails to surprise me.
ScouseFox Posted 22 November 2016 Posted 22 November 2016 we've just won a champions league group with a game to spare and are pretty comfortable in the prem and you think it's worse than losing 0-1 to burnley, preston, reading and rotherham on repeat for 4 years without having a shot on target? give ye head a wobble fella

It's better now, honestly don't care what happens so can just enjoy watching the football. EDIT: And as far as the least enjoyable season goes very far from the mark, I find looking forward to Tuesday and rocking up at the Walkers as it was then known knowing Plymouth were not only that afternoons visitors, but favs to win (and win they did) totally incomparable If I didn't love Leicester and have pride in my local football team, I would be a distant viewer of football. I'm disillusioned with the game as a whole, it's just about the only sport where the result can be dictated by the competency of an official and it makes my blood boil. I don't enjoy football yet I go every bloody week because I love Leicester. We've had worse statistical seasons as everyone has mentioned, we've had worse managers, we've had worse players and we've had worse results. They're not the reason I'm not enjoying it. It just doesn't mean as much to me now, my club achieved the dream last season, from here on in it's for the purists I guess. I imagine I'll drop out of it all in the coming years, but that's just me.
foxy boxing Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 once you scale the peak it is a lot harder to keep on climbing you can either grab on to passing bird that will lift you even higher or fall rapidly to the ground and flatline.

kingcarr21 Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 This season i have had a completely different view on us. In previous seasons when we lost i used to be fuming and wouldn't get over it for a few days. So far this season when we have lost i've not been nearly as angry. I just don't seem bothered about losing. Last season was the pinnacle and i don't think we will ever top it in my lifetime. So now i feel like i'm playing a computer game. Completed it last season and got the platinum trophy and i'm now on another play through. I die against a boss, meh. I've already completed it. I'm sure given more time i will get back to how i used to feel but this season i'm just not near as bothered about the Premier League. Other teams fans laughing at us and our position. I couldn't give a monkeys. Last Season will live on forever and can never be taken away. Laugh all you want. You will never experience what we as Leicester fans experienced last season. So this season its one of my least enjoyable because i don't feel as interested as i normally do. It's a strange feeling. Does any of what i've wrote make sense or am i a babbling idiot
