Finnegan Posted 30 November 2016 Posted 30 November 2016 3 minutes ago, Trav Le Bleu said: Well that wasn't Kante either. He was all about winning the ball and off-loading it as fast and as accurately as possible, which is his strength. He keeps the game moving. I realise that's not what you're saying here, but so many people are basically wanting a Kante replacement for our midfield. This is false. Very false. Kante was a major link between defence and attack because he DIDN'T just pass sideways as quickly as possible. This is what Chelsea and France make him do. What he did for us was drive at the opposition while Vardy, Mahrez and Drinkwater took up positions and it's actually this we've lacked more than his defensive performance in recent home games.

Yes we have vastly superior players in every position he can play at. But we should definitely keep him and only bring him out for special occasions for a laugh. Like the Champions League Final.
VLC86 Posted 30 November 2016 Posted 30 November 2016 Oh my god he sounds amazing, pay £20m for him right now. 6 months later................... That Amartey lad who cant even get on the bench is class, drop that Ndillyding guy.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 30 November 2016 Posted 30 November 2016 End of the season we'll have DD, Ndidi, Mendy, Amartey, Kingy, James. Looking forward to heading into the 2017/18 season pioneering the groundbreaking 4-6 formation.

I didn't say sideways. He made good, intelligent, but simple passes to players who were moving, usually right in front of them. He wasted so little. He didn't exactly run at the defence and take on defenders very much at all. Maybe my choice of the word "off-loading" seems as though he wasn't doing anything useful with the ball, but I always knew when Kante had the ball, it was going to be used well.

Swansea away, West Ham at home. He drove 20-30yards and threaded players trough

Look at what's happened to Kapustka. Just because he costs a whack doesn't mean he's coming here to impact immediately. Good thinking about Charity (Children with Cancer UK), so if he signs, we'll run a poll on here after he's played in 10 games. Can't say fairer than that. I highly doubt Amartey would be capable of this though....

He rarely took players on, but his first instinct was always forwards, as soon as he won the ball, go forwards. Then when someone came to close him down he offloaded, usually forward and to someone taking up the space created by the person closing him down, so it appeared a simple pass, but was so effective. He was so key to our play, what is frustrating is that it is not difficult and Amartey is perfectly capable of doing the same but either is told not too, or doesn't have the confidence to do so.
foxy boxing Posted 30 November 2016 Posted 30 November 2016 clearly our recruitment in the summer has not worked out like we all hoped and maybe January will go a long way to rectifying the situation, whatever players we bring in will need to hit the ground running and will hopefully be able to go straight into the first team and Claudio will have to put his faith in these players
TJB-fox Posted 30 November 2016 Posted 30 November 2016 Buy every black centre midfielder with half decent tackling stats and African origin for the next 30years and someday we might replace Kante

He did it quite a lot, it was just his general lightening play from defence to attack that was unbelievable.
HKFox Posted 30 November 2016 Posted 30 November 2016 great goal, are we ever going to sign a player who can improve our first team. Amartey, Kaputska, Gray. All talented young players, would be nice to sign a cm with premiership experience who will actually make a difference.
Walkerfox Posted 30 November 2016 Posted 30 November 2016 No. Won't improve any area of the team and will be 'not ready' until he leaves in a year or two.

Realist Guy In The Room Posted 30 November 2016 Posted 30 November 2016 Absolutely no ****er is coming here in Jan unless we overpay a fee or overpay a wage. The Jan window will sign our death warrant this season.

What have you got that says this Ndidi guy is better than Amartey? Both excelled in their poor domestic divisions, both did reasonably well in European competition and both are very young. Hardly a 'joke' considering Amartey has been fine at home, it's been away from home where he's struggled. That's what you get with youngsters in the middle of midfield (Genk have won all but one of their home games yet lost all but one of their away games).
