I'd put money on him making an appearance or two for us over the rest of the season. Glad his loan move worked out for him!

 

Might be worth sending Kaputska and even Amartey out next season, it can really help young players develop.

I was at the Walsall game earlier and saw Harvey score his last goal for us. He was excellent once again - he also got an assist for our first goal with a quality lofted pass -

He's number 18 - assist for the first goal and also scores the last goal.

 

His goal just shows perfectly what Harvey is all about, hard working and really fought for it. All of our supporters at the game were singing "Harvey Barnes, we want you to stay" towards the end.

 

Our manager once again reiterated that he is speaking to Harvey and a few people at Leicester next week to try and get Harvey back here next season, his reasoning being that he can pretty much guarantee Harvey will get 40-45 first team games here next year. Fingers crossed.

 

If he does return to your club, then I wish him the best of luck and will definitely be keeping an eye on his career as he develops. He is a special talent and in the running for our Player of the Year. Just hope he isn't sat around on your bench for most of next season, he needs to keep playing at a first team level whether thats with Leicester, on loan to a Championship club or back with us again.

 

Someone earlier in the thread wasn't sure what position he plays - for us he has generally played on the wing/either side of a front 3, but he seems comfortable anywhere in midfield.

Players don't tend to come back for the remainder of a season if the league they were on loan to finishes earlier than their parent clubs league, so I don't think you'd find many who wouldn't take that bet from you...

It'd just be nice to see another one of own academy players breakthrough to the first-team in the future.

I know its had its criticisms in the past over the way it's been managed etc, but I feel there's a few in the development squad that could be strong future local talents within the first-team if they're managed both effectively and sensibly.

And Barnes seems like one that could progress continuously if he climbs the ladder to higher clubs etc and proves his worth at those clubs.

I know his Dad Paul well and he says there are no plans at this point to send him out on loan next season all the coaching staff are keen to integrate him into the  squad next season. 

Be nice to see a local boy make the breakthrough.

Dele Alli.

 

Although he wasn't an immediate regular. Came on as a sub and scored against us in the 2nd game of the 15/16 season, and never looked back since.

I see what Tottenham, Everton and Southampton are doing in terms of bringing through promising young English talent and I'd love it if we followed suit. There's something very gratifying about the thought of us doing our bit for English football as well as trying to develop a young and exciting team. Would love to see him in and around the team.

Funnily enough the only fans I've read who've said that are MK Dons fans. Some of them think he's every bit as good as Alli was for them which is outrageous given how many goals Alli scored for them. Hope we utilize his talent.

Dont get get me wrong, I want him to succeed, I just don't think he's ready to be a regular starter for us.  He probably won't even get 15 games for us next season.. if we were to retain anyone one of our loanees for the first team squad next season I'd imagine it would be Lawrence who has played particularly well but in a higher division and plays in similar positions to what Harvey has been utilized at MK..

It depends how the club see his development, not all players need 50-100 games on loan before they are ready. We might be happy to now start to give him chances in the cup next season and a few league games like Chilwell. It's hard to know if that sort of management stunts them more than full seasons at a lower level. Let's be honest we can't afford to loan out all of our good young players as we need them in the squad.

Think this pre season will be massive for us 

All the young wingers are either going to be working their socks off to try to get into the managers plans or risk being shipped out

Harvey was named in the EFL Team of the Week today - that includes all of the EFL leagues including the Championship (although for some reason they've put him as a lone striker, which is bizarre).

 

As an MK supporter, I would say that he isn't quite at Alli's level in terms of when he played for us, but then again I doubt anyone ever will be again - with Alli we practically had a ready made Premier League player playing for us for a couple of seasons. Alli was a freak of nature in how good he was at his age and our level.

 

But Harvey is very, very good. He makes league one defenders look like non-league players. He was superb when he started with us earlier in the year, but even I can see an improvement in his time with us - his long range passing/long balls have been better in the last few games compared to when he started, and that was his only weakness, hence why I think our manager is right in saying a full season with us on loan would benefit him if he's getting 40-45 games with us.

 

You have a really talented player in Harvey Barnes. We've had lots of good loanees over the last few seasons but Harvey is technically better than all of them for his age. If I could compare him to any current Prem player, it would probably been Son for Tottenham in his style of play and position. 

 

I'll stop arse licking now, you get the point.
