Yep, I'm creaming myself all over his performance today and rightly so.

 

What's wrong with praising him for having a good game? He's been a consummate professional since he's been with us and took his opportunity with both hands today.

 

If ever a defensive performance from a fringe player was worth creaming yourself over, it was this one...

Arguably could have stopped their 2nd goal, lost his man in the box and ended up in no mans land but expect that, first game at this level in a long while. Played very well apart from that, been saying it since he arrived he could be a starter for us.

Have to admit I was surprised to see him start today after being out of Shakespeare's squads so far. If we needed a CB replacement I expected Amartey... but really glad he got the nod - great performance from him today!

I thought Benny was excellent today, composed on the ball and made some great clearing headers in the final stages. Pleased to see him slot in well alongside Huth too, as CB partnerships are hard to form but they both looked like they'd played together for years.

Has always looked decent in his all too infrequent appearances. Defo worth keeping around. Loved the free kick effort as well.

Has felt quite nerve-wracking with Huth and Morgan with the ball at times, as if they were to be tackled at some point with their sometimes slow decision-making.

 

But Benalouane looks very comfortable with the ball without panicking, and that's the sort of defender the team needs. Confidence from the back etc.

Felt he was our most consistent outfield player today over the course of the 90 mins, would've been Albrighton but for a second half in which we offered little to no attacking threat - something that was more of a team fault than an individual one.

 

As a reserve player, all you can ask is that they step up to the mark when called upon and Benny did that with bells on today - more than can be said of others who have come in to our rejuvenated lineup.

pleased for him, he never moan and seems genuinely behind the boys all the time he wasn't playing (as per his Twitter account) seems a nice bloke and want him to do well, he has never let us down the times he has been on and I'm baffled as to why he never played more

I think it's more a case he probably wasn't expecting to play today, and has been thrown in and under immense pressure has performed very well. It shows we have a capable centre half who can step in and do a job. We have every right to rave about him.

He's never let us down, he's had to be patient but has always turned up when called upon.

 

His attitude was summed up today by wanting to play on after he injured his finger and elbow.

it is a mystery why he's had such a scarce amount of opportunities, has always looked capable. Very good today, also provides competition for Morgan and Huth if they step off the gass again.

Remember when he played for us against someone crap, derby I think, made a comment on here about his obvious ability and the improvement he made to our back line. Didn't go down well at the time as it was only derby, glad he's now being recognised.
