This is the baffling thing though. Amartey played CB for Copenhagen. Hernandez was one of La Liga's best centre backs last year. But both haven't been given a chance to replace our established, but underperforming, centre back partnership. Is it misplaced loyalty in last year's heroes? Is it a reluctance to drop the club captain? Or is it that Amartey and Hernandez didn't show enough in training to warrant a place in the side?

Now Hernandez has gone, Benny is back in the fold but he isn't match fit enough to start a PL game just yet in my opinion.

I can't see any alternative to starting Wes and Huth today. Maybe Benny will continue to prove his worth as the weeks go by.

Hernandez wasn't one of La Liga's best centre halves last year, he just had a high statistical number of interceptions. They're not the same thing.

Mendy had some of the best passing stats in Ligue 1, that doesn't mean he was one of the best midfielders in Ligue 1.

But as a general rule the best players have the better stats.

Anyway today is the line in the sand for me, we either find our balls and make a go of it or we're going to throw in the towel.

Come on Leicester!!!!

Reports suggest Slim is 100% fit. Can't imagine him missing out on the squad if he is. Is there something you know that I don't? Is the Slim statement smoke and mirrors? If not, I agree with your starting eleven from CR for the most part.

I know nothing I just accidentally left Slim out but my original 18 stands :P

I reckon CR will pick

Kasper, Simpson, Morgan, Huth, Fuchs, Albrighton, Ndidi, Drinkwater, Mahrez, Slimani, Vardy (if fit) or Musa

Wouldn't be my choice but Claudio knows more about football than I do.

Swap Amartey for Simpson and I don't think you'd be far out.

Not necessarily true.

This season Kante has far fewer tackles and interceptions

than last season. Does that mean, he is at Chelsea not as good

as he was here?

Of course not.

He has fewer tackles and interceptions, because Chelsea

has regularly  much more possesion, than we had in a game.

But if your team has most of the time the ball, you don't

have to win it back by tackles and interceptions so often.

In other words: Kante's "phenomenal" stats were the result

of  our inability to keep the ball under control.

He had to win it back again and again, because his team lost

it so fast.

Conclusion: this season his stats are not so good as last season,

because he is playing for a better team.

Good point, also true of goalkeepers. Those that play for lesser teams tend to make the most saves because they are busier rather than being better.

Amartey has played 7 full games (+30minutes ET) since 17.01.

He must be totally knackered.

He's 22 (thankfully finally looks it since losing the peado tash!) if he can't manage his current schedule he'll be ****ed when he's 30.

is it just me?

Surely Grey is ahead of Mahrez?  Slimani plays ahead of Vardy - therefore it make sen to have albrighton .  Shinji vital for high pressing esp as we are away.

Morgan had one of the best block stats in the great escape season - which mostly came from poor positioning in the first place

0-3 win, everyone starts saying we are now back on form and will achieve mid table.

Get battered by Liverpool and meltdown resumes.

Don't mind being battered by Liverpool if we win this one.

I was looking forward to this game with confidence following the display on Wednesday, I thought given some of the performances we'd have a new look side out there with aspects of the Derby team playing today, particularly in defence; now as it gets closer I've suddenly got a funny feeling in my stomach that despite everything Ranieri is going to revert back to the same static back four that has served us so badly this season.

If that happens, it's going to be an uncomfortable watch.

If we're gonna have the same CBs then at least drop Fuchs and Vardy, please.

I don't see how he can't start Chilwell to be honest. Only 25 mins til we find out

24 pages in , game hsnt even kicked off yet we might hit 100 pages today (especially if we lose and this place enters meltdown mode)

We are going to win today

If Bennys not in the squad then.

Kasper

Armatey

Wes

Huth

Chilwell

Gray

King

Ndidi

Albrighton

Mahrez

Slimani

Get Mahrez running at them through the middle and Gray and Albrighton whipping in the crosses to Slim

King deserves a start over Danny too
