Foxxed Posted 2 April 2017 Posted 2 April 2017 It's difficult to imagine anything other than a full strength team - then largely rested for a week until Athletico. The final twenty will worry me though. We've wobbled a little towards the end of our last two. Sunderland are the kind of team that could punished that.
VLC86 Posted 2 April 2017 Posted 2 April 2017 I joked when the fixtures came out that playing Sunderland in their first game of the season isn't a good idea.

Plenty of intensity required in the stands too. Win this and we're as good as one win away from safety and it also allows us to put all our focus on Atletico Madrid. Must win for the good of our season.

I'd Bench Okazaki and Vardy, to rest them, and put in King in behind Slimani, who desperately needs to prove himself. I also would like to wrap Drinkwater in cotton wool, as I think he is carrying a knock. Bring in Amartey. Schmeichel Simpson Benny Huth Fuchs Amartey Ndididi Mahrez King Gray Slimani Best team only, no resting of anyone. If we win then we can think abouit resting players for Everton whilst the first XI can concentrate on Atletico in eight days time.

Full team v Sunderland and play the reserves v Everton, offers an 8 day gap. Do the same for Palace too (after 8 day gap) with perhaps playing a couple of first teamers for the last 20 mins. If we get past Atletico then we'll take the same approach for the two weekend games prior to the semis

AmarteyAndChill Posted 2 April 2017 Posted 2 April 2017 At least Sunderland have to win this, Draw is no good for them.
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 2 April 2017 Posted 2 April 2017 Banana skin potentially. On paper, on form, this should be another three points. Need To stay focus, potential to get closer to the top half.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 2 April 2017 Posted 2 April 2017 How many managers have won their first five PL games in charge? Actually, sod that! What's the record?

The record is 6, but I'm with the majority on this win this full strength team, an make 6 or 7 changes for Everton to keep the team fresh for Athletico. Even with a full strength team, Everton is tricky, if we could win V Sunderland an draw against Everton, would be great to go into Athletico unbeaten under Shakey

What , are you serious Amartey did well by givng more freshness to he middle albrighton can plsy aganst sunderland if he get rid of the flou albrighton has no role in the away match against atletico madrid , this game is for the players who can control the balll Even okazaki have no place also Shakespeare have amartey gray king chilwell Slimani The crosses and the long balls does not fit in this game Hope leicester got three points from game and one point from everton game with good rotation to get to madrid with The players rested enoigh to get a good result

Albrighton has enough energy to play a central midfielder role plus he has the ability to thread killer balls through the middle for Vardy to gobble up, I think that's what's been lacking from DD all season, it's his continual inaccurate passes in the opposition half. Anyway dunno, Marc is clearly a winger so probably a daft idea but just putting it out there. Crazy idea....Rearrange the whole team when we have just won 5 on the trot and start playing people out of position? Madness
Ian Nacho Posted 2 April 2017 Posted 2 April 2017 Hopefully not a potential banana skin with Sunderland losing their last 5 without scoring and our form. We've seen it all before but hopefully not again on Tuesday.
foxes21 Posted 2 April 2017 Posted 2 April 2017 Vs Sunderland Schmeichel Simpson, Benalouane, Huth, Fuchs Mahrez, Drinkwater, Ndidi, Albrighton Okazaki Vardy Vs Everton Zieler Amartey, Wasilewski, Benalouane, Chilwell Kapustka, King, Mendy, Gray Slimani Musa
WigstonWanderer Posted 3 April 2017 Posted 3 April 2017 I think we will need Albrighton vs Madrid, so working back, best to play him v Sunderland and rest him (and others) vs Everton. With 34 points and needing just 6 points from 9 matches to play, we are all but safe and can afford to prioritise the CL again now.
Guy Posted 3 April 2017 Posted 3 April 2017 Although you get the occasional freak result still (Chelski 1 Palace 2 yesterday - or Palace 0 Sunderland 4 a few weeks ago), I can't see anything but a 'home win' on the old Vernons/Littlewoods pools coupon for this one......I hope I'm right as regards the assumption!
Riot Van Posted 3 April 2017 Posted 3 April 2017 Hope we do these 5-0 and they get relegated without picking up another point.

UPinCarolina Posted 3 April 2017 Posted 3 April 2017 I can see resting Okazaki and Drinkwater perhaps. That's it.

We only need 6 points from 9 matches, possibly less. That itself is relegation form only. Time to prioritise the CL again. Play the first team here, the reserves against Everton and back to the first team vs Atletico. Of course I'd like to see us finish in the top half as well but the two objectives are not incompatible. If we're completely out of it after the first leg, go back to prioritising the league.
