I expect them to sit tight at the back as they lack any pace. This will make it difficult for us so we'll need to be patient.

Defoe usually scores against us so we will need two. I expect Slim to score with a Header late on.

Overall I think we'll have too much for them. But i'd they manage the first goal then it will be a battle.

On wards and upwards we go.

Masks of the reporter abused by Moyes on the seats for tomorrow's game ???

Some of them don't seem so horrid.

After I got used to their forum's theme I enjoyed RTG actually. My favourite quotes so far are "Not worried about Defoe missing, like Moyes says if you can't defend it is pointless attacking" and on Moyes' recent media outing "Does anybody know any militant arsey women with media ties who can make a big song and dance about this? This could be the break we've been after to get rid of this dead loss gratis."

I've just found this quote from Gray.

Quote

Gray’s display was all the more impressive given he was, in is own words, “wiped out” by Ryan Shawcross in the 17th minute. “I just take it as a compliment,” Gray said. “If they see me as a threat it’s a good thing and that’s good for the team because if they focus on me that could take the focus off other players.”

I take back all doubts I had about his attitude. I'm half hoping he starts now, or at least gets more than 15 minutes. I hope he bosses Everton anyhow.

Assume shakey will have the boys focussed but concerned that the crowd are going to be complacent and over expectant. WE ARE NEEDED TONIGHT. NEEDS TO BE LIKE LIVERPOOL ATMOSPHERE.

a bad result tonight potentially screws up the Madrid tie re player rotation.

everton - they will badly need to win

palace -likewise

arsenal - likewise

we could go to West Brom on the cusp of the bottom three with a depressing 'what might have been' Madrid result fresh in our minds

dont underestimate how important a win tonight is to the remainder of the season. They are vulnerable and we need to ram home our advantage from the off. that includes the crowd!!!!!!

Not sure Defoe will be playing as he missed training yesterday.... hopefully a win.

I quite like Sunderland and have met some cracking people from the area on holidays etc over the years.

If you look at their crowds compared to the population its mighty impressive ... think they are now almost

certain to go down but hope they bounce back.

I've just had a quick read of their forum what is it with them every time they play us?

Constant threads about us on their boards, some good replies to the thread others are just generally bitter. They've been punching way above their weight a long time and will finally be going down - it could do them the world of good.

We've achieved more in one Season than the majority of their fan base will have seen in a life time speaks volumes really. They rate themselves far too much.

As for tonight they'll park the bus and frustrate us. 1-0 Slimani

Then again if you judge a fanbase on a clubs message board all clubs woild be cvnts

I couldn't agree more. I fear people will dismiss this, even if only subconsciously, however I think this game is crucial. We may not be relegated as a result of tonight's result, because I think we will stay up regardless of tonight's performance, however I do think that 3 points tonight is vital for our hopes of a good CL performance.

Really important that the crowd get behind the lads from the start as though we needed a win to stay up. With the crowd on top form, and the players playing the way they have recently, we will win. But if there is any complacency we may end up with a surprise result.

Just been reading it. Love that forum! lol

As you say there are a few decent posts on there but overall they despise us for some reason. Bizarre really as we literally have no rivalry with them whatsoever

What's that theory about an infinite number of monkeys with an infinite number of typewriters will eventually write the whole works of Shakespeare?  In their case they made a football forum

Sunderland are gonna struggle in the Championship next season, they won't have Newcastle to take six points from.

I'm looking forward to their stadium emptying after 20 minutes when they are one nil down to Burton - and then claiming they're the best fans in England and still obsessing over us.
