He's genuinely honest and gives insightful responses. Slightly more articulate than I expected too. What a bloke. Exactly how he comes across when you chat to him in person too.

How can the well paid manager of a premier league club telling a female in a male dominated environment that she might get a slap and she should watch herself in future not be a story. If he's apologised and she's accepted his apology then it's a non-story. If she feels it wasn't particularly threatening / partially said in jest / said in the heat of the moment and is willing to forgive and take it no further then who else has the ****ing right to escalate it? Same old shit - other people, mostly the media will stick their big ****ing noses in and try to keep it newsworthy for as long as possible. That's the white-knight, fight everyone else's battles (even if they don't need it / want it) world we're living in these days though.

Context is very important, but is frequently ignored in today's hypersensitive, hysterical atmosphere of politically correct moralism. The clip clearly shows that Moyes was joking - both he and the reporter were laughing and there is no suggestion whatsoever that it was a genuine threat. Yet twitter and other social media are right now full of people suggesting that Moyes threatened her. It's absurd. He chose the wrong words, which was silly, but to conduct a witch hunt against a man for comments that were intended as a joke is pathetic beyond belief.

rn9013 Posted 3 April 2017 Posted 3 April 2017 To be honest if I were the Sunderland board I'd be looking to use this to sack him for free, rather than face a £6m payout if they sack him on results. Thats even ignoring the morality of what he's done. Judging by some of the comments on Sunderland fan boards I don't think moyes would be missed.

I don't think anyone is taking the violence side of the comment seriously. I think its the 'sexist' and patronising way it was all said that's the issue. he wouldn't have said that to a male reporter. he would have just said 'don't ask me questions like that again'. he should have said the same to her - she is a reporter, not a woman. her gender shouldn't be relevant.

I disagree. I think it's exactly the kind of thing he might have said to a male reporter. "You'll get a slap if you're not careful" is exactly the kind of comment that men jokingly say to each other all the time. I think the assumption that he singled her out because she's a woman is deeply flawed. People are just bending over backwards in a desperate attempt to find something be offended by.

If you'd say it to a man, in this day and age you can say it to a woman and expect the same result. That's what you call sexual equality
Yes N'Didi Posted 3 April 2017 Posted 3 April 2017 I'd start Albrighton personally, then Gray against Everton when most of the first 11 get rested ahead of Madrid. Satisfies both players, and I can't see Albrighton not starting against Madrid.

And speaking to safc.com, Moyes provided the latest on the frontman. “He didn’t train yesterday and, as we’re doing this press conference, we’re yet to train today. “He’s got a knock just below his knee – it was a challenge rather than something to do with his knee – so we need to see how he is today.” is it only me who thinks it's slightly poor planning to have not trained yet at 1pm in the afternoon a day before an away game
lcfcsnow Posted 3 April 2017 Posted 3 April 2017 This whole Moyes thing is nothing compared to Pearsons meltdown which did nothing but help us in the great escape. Hope this doesn't have similar effect tomorrow for Sunderland.

'even though you're a woman' I said its nothing to do with the slap part. why is he referring to her gender? to me, that's the issue here. its not relevant. if he doesn't like her line of questioning then just tell her. suspect his defence to the FA will be that the comment 'i'll give you a slap' is commonly used by him to male reporters and therefore he repeated it to her before realising as he said it that it was inappropriate to do so. therefore he qualified it with the final comment. if he doesn't usually use the phrase then he is looking at a fine and one of those self awareness courses!
lgfualol Posted 3 April 2017 Posted 3 April 2017 Hope we add another nail to their relegation coffin. I'd star Gray again. Albrighton would be better vs Everton imo.

I see that champion of contemporary morality Lineker has had his twopenneth worth. Someone should tell him to mind his own business. Yes, Moyes is a twat - he's always been full of himself - but if this ends up with him losing his job, then the world has gone mad. I think Vicki Sparks is duty bound to come out and say that no offence was taken. If it did upset her, then yes, Moyes has a problem. But it sounds like it is the usual hand-wringing moralists who are acting in an unsolicited way on her behalf and trying to make the usual political capital out of it. Trivial stuff like this masks real cases of vile sexism. Having said all that, from a Leicester City viewpoint, it couldn't have come at a better time!!
Ecdysiast Posted 3 April 2017 Posted 3 April 2017 Lee "Clattermole" likely to back in for Sunderland....He's another "Shawcross type" hard man. Hope we don't lose anyone for Europe!

It would make sense with Albrighton only just recovered. Shakey says Marc is '100% fit' but I think he'll flag heavily if he starts. I'd say start Gray, give him or Mahrez 70-75 mins then bring on Albrighton for either one, ready for him to start on Sunday should he warrant it (he has been magnificent recently).

Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 3 April 2017 Posted 3 April 2017 I would rest Mahrez for this game and Everton. If Albrighton is fit, him and Gray will be able deputies. We need to have an eye on Madrid albeit without jeopardising the great league run we are on. If we do go out all guns blazing and we are at least 2-0 up or so, get Vardy off early. I think Shakey's game management in the next two/three games are crucial. I feel a lot more settled that changes and team selections will be better handled going forward.

Are we not better off trying to win the game early with our best players then taking them off? We are not safe yet.

We are not safe yet. This is the way I would go. If we lose and Hull beat Boro, which for them, is probably likely, then we could be just 3 points of the bottom 3 with a tough away trip to Everton with player's focus on the Champions League quarter final. If we win this game, then we can look at making a few changes for the Everton game but I would go with the same team as the weekend and really attack Sunderland and hopefully be able to put the game to bed early enough, that we can then give rests to Mahrez, Vardy, Drinkwater etc and look to give some valuable minutes to Slimani and co.
Mad Dog Posted 3 April 2017 Posted 3 April 2017 Has to be full strength, then rest a few for Everton if we win. Get Vardy and Mahrez off early if we're comfortable.
