Koke Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 After couple of bad months for him (and Morgan), Huth looks like he's back to his best. He was outstanding against Atletico and Palace. He will be a huge miss on Tuesday night. I feared for him after the Man Utd game. Mkhitaryan made him look like someone who should be in a retirement home. We got 2 and a half years of brilliant service out of him. He's 33 in the summer. Hopefully we can squeeze another year out of him.
Tuna Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 One of the best and most important signings we've ever made.
willie-bell-in-rothley Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 Man of the match for me yesterday v Palace
Fox92 Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 Yes. Man of the match again yesterday. He is back to his basic, his best, a proper defender. If needed put the ball out the ground. I like that.
Ted Maul Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 He's an organiser, and doesn't rely too much on pace. As we don't leave much space in behind our defence, he still certainly has a big part to play. I think next season will see him winding down a bit- hopefully we can finally buy a top quality younger CB, and integrate him into the starting 11 gradually.
StanSP Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 he's back to his best now that the whole team have played to our strengths. One of our best signings in recent times. Absolute brute and what's more is that a lot of fans of other clubs absolutely despise him
Vacamion Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 He was instrumental in the great escape. What were Stoke thinking of, letting him go? He was vital in the Premier League win. Remember that in addition to being a mountain in defence, he scored the goals that made the difference at Man City and Spurs. He only struggled this season when he had a faltering midfield going backwards in front of him. He's now back to being brilliant. For all the stuff about Wasyl being a hard man, you just wouldn't mess with Huth. He will be a massive miss on Tuesday. When he eventually retires, he will rightly be remembered as a legend.

Guest CityFan 06 Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 He's been very good recently, yesterday he was excellent. Huth's been a good signing for us, he was a pivotal addition in the 2014/15 season to help keep us up, as well as being influential in the 2015/16 title winning season.
Stadt Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 We've made same class signings in recent years, obviously Kante, Vardy and Mahrez signed for a cumulative £7m which has got a lot of coverage but Huth was £3m, Albrighton on a free, Fuchs on a free and Gray was remarkably cheap for a young English player (had a release clause though). Only further highlights how we started doing the antithesis of what made us successful under Ranieri though.

Hughes wanted a ball playing CB to play along side shawcross.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 Been very impressive, I think he is enjoying his football again. It's like having a whole team of Lazarus-erm-es (apologies to the grammer police - correction welcomed Lazarus's, Lazeri, etc etc). Playing to our strengths never seemed so obvious.

Hopefully we can squeeze another year out of him. I reckon, we have at least 2 seasons in him with a 3rd to 4th for support and cover.... Our tactics in the 1st games this season, left our CBs in nomans land. Though we still need 2 younger CBs, one ready to hit the ground running, the other still quality, but availabe for cover... At the moment, I want to see how the oldies...Benny, Huth, Morgan fair.Keeping all at least until next EOS Plus to see whats the clubs approach for Amartey and Wague futures...
AyewJoking Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 Would maybe get a year or two more out of him if we play 5 at the back or just a quick partner to do the running and let huth command the troops.
Stadt Posted 16 April 2017 Posted 16 April 2017 He's even been a little bit better on the ball recently, he'll never be a Bonucci but it's great that he's not needlessly smashing it away as much.
Grewks Posted 17 April 2017 Posted 17 April 2017 I've gotta be honest, i couldn't believe how dominant he was against Godin during the Atletico match.

Lazaruses I believe would be correct.
