So Sanchez' wages will be about £2m per month, whilst nurses in hospitals etc get significantly less for doing a complex and mentally stressful job etc?

Due to Sky, TV rights etc, this type of thing will only get worse and at some point the balloon will burst surely.

As needlessly huge as a Sanchez's wages are, what a private company choose to pay an employee is entirely up to them as long as they can sustain paying it. Yeah nurses should probably be paid more, but that's government decision, not Man Utd's. And Sanchez getting a massive wage packet doesn't stop a nurse getting any more money, in fact his monthly tax probably pays a few nurses wages for a year.

But millions of people don’t pay to watch nurses (etc.) do their job...

But if they sold tickets...

It wouldn't surprise me if the three promoted sides eventually suffer the drop.

We need to get the 3 more wins soon I think we need to be totally sure of not getting sucked into anything stupid. Going to get messy down there. Ever the optimist, me!

Weird how the bottom half has got so bunched up. Normally at least one is cut adrift by now (as we were in 2014/15).

I'm trying to work out if this means it will take more or less than the standard 40 pts needed for survival given with how it's panning out

Id say less, as theyll all stop each other getting points and generally keep each other embroiled in the battle.

Plus, there isnt a Derby, or a Villa in there that are more weeks than not fodder that everyone beats.

Watford in 10th are 6 points off 8th place Burnley with a GD that is 9 worse.

They are also 6 points off bottom place Swansea with a GD that is 9 better.

Bonkers.

I agree - should be less .

Clubs are happy to bin underperforming managers to get the dead cat bounce effect to gain points - the promoted sides hold off longer and are more loyal so that could be fatal in the short term . Ultimately though it's likely that 37 should be around the cut off - i.e. One win for us - I think we will be good enough to get that

Enjoyable earthy," its what its all about" PL game of football.

if this carries on...42pts for safety 14-15 teams still in the mix..????

makes you think. Leicester aint got any easy points acoming...brill.!!

Can't see more than 3 teams claiming more than16 points from the last 14 games.

One or two will implode shortly and lose 8/9 of the remaining games and only pick up a couple of draws.

This season you can't afford to go on a bad run. I fancy Huddersfield to go on a poor run and be relegated the other two spots are anyone's. would like to see Stoke and WBA drop.

I actually think this is the deal that tips the balance between the crazy and the offensive. I understand all the millions watch argument but, if true, then his wages are truly repellent. Also the agent's supposed cut of 15million is offensive and is money that could/should go elsewhere in the game.

I don't blame the players but all clubs should take some responsibility now.

He will pay a lot of tax but really the government should be taxing this sort of wage at 95% on say anything over 250k per week. I'm sure they would still have enough to manage.

If they did that, it’d effectively cap the wage. Not doing this and taking the cut they currently take and wages rising as they are, the government will be better off.

Definitely not 14-15 teams still in the mix, that'd include us and arsenal. Anyone in the bottom half can go though

I know but I would like to see the wages capped and the agent's fees taxed at that sort of rate as well. I do realise I'm living in cloud cuckoo land but the sort of wages these players receive is frankly obscene.

Fair enough Reynard, I wasn’t disagreeing with you, just saying the ‘taxman’ would be losing out so can’t see the government doing anything about it.

I was using Poetic license...just to make it exciting...

Plus I really dont expect Everton (Even after we beat them) nor Burnley, to drop out the top 10.

Burnley are basically like we were in our title season, on the money full concentrated, and are

Playing imo, consistently good football, and hard to beat. This top 7 is not yet confirmed...

I'm sure if it was put on the internet they'd be a lot of people watching - there are some weird people out there.

they’ve lost 4 games in a row, 5 out of their last 7 and not won for 9 games. wouldn’t exactly call them hard to beat. or anything like us.

Burnley have scored 19 goals in 24 games, that's the third lowest in the league. Granted they've only conceded 21. We have scored 36, a whopping 17 goals more than Burnley. This is why we will finish above them. Besides the fact that we are a better team than them, we also don't rely on 0-0s and 1-0s.

I don't know what others make of this opinion, but I think Wolves's current squad would comfortably stay in the premier league this season.

In theory, yes, as its full of players that wouldn't be available for a club like wolves if they didn't have the link with the super agent.

Ruben Neves for example in a normal scenario would not be playing in the championship. Nor Diogo Jota.

I disagree. No matter how much football gets in revenue the vast majority leaves the game through wages as it's such a competitive industry. People take offence to how much footballers earn but no one really cares that some actors, boxers, golfers, etc earn more.

As long as the likes of Sanchez are paying their fair amount of tax and not finding loopholes to not pay it through off shore accounts then I'm absolutely fine with it. PL football is good for our economy.
