davieG Posted 3 May 2017 Posted 3 May 2017 How much will Leicester City earn for reaching Champions League quarter-finals? By James_Sharpe | Posted: May 03, 2017 Leicester City are set to land an estimated £66million for their success in the Champions League. City will pick up €12.7m for their participation in the competition, €19.7m in prize money on their way to reaching the quarter-finals, as well €45.7m in their share of the €128.4m television fund. That gives the club a total of €78.1m, which is around £66m at the current exchange rate. City earned just short of £100m last season on their way to winning the Premier League title. Leicester will pick up €1.5m for every win in the group stage, €0.5 for their draw against Copenhagen, as well as some loose change left over from the other draws in the group stage. The club will then pocket €6m for reaching the last-16 and €6.5m for making the quarter-finals. Arsenal, who were knocked out by Bayern Munich in the last-16, will pick up around €62.4m (£53m) while Man City are likely to pick up a little more than €48.2m (£40m). Despite being eliminated at the same stage as Arsenal, Man City will pick up less money from the TV pool because they finished below the Gunners in the Premier League last season. Tottenham, knocked out in the group stages, will pick up around just over €41.8m (£35m). WigstonWanderer Posted 3 May 2017 Posted 3 May 2017 I think it all changes next season doesn't it? The money will be divied up to give the top "established"clubs the lions share to try to permanently lock out gatecrashers like us.
LestaAl Posted 3 May 2017 Posted 3 May 2017 c£66 CL revenues plus the gate monies for 5 home matches, lets hope it gets to be spent wisely.
UniFox21 Posted 3 May 2017 Posted 3 May 2017 Id hope it won't all be chucked into either wages or at players and that they invest more in the youth academy and start to get more joy from developing young players Just the 1 gem every couple of years would be brilliant, as right now we seem to produce players good enough for leagues 1 and 2 and the occasional championship player but very few that managed to bed into the first team
Footballwipe Posted 3 May 2017 Posted 3 May 2017 Just to add that a ninth placed finish would see us pick up around £125m in Premier League money too (take away £2m per position below ninth depending on where we finish.) Turnover wise we're looking at between £180-190m alone in competition prize money so if the commercial side have done their bit we should hit over £200m turnover for the first time ever.

Hence my comment after the last set of accounts showed a record profit that 'you aint seen nutin yet'!
shen Posted 3 May 2017 Posted 3 May 2017 Surely we don't get 1/3 of the entire Champions League TV money. There's probably a zero missing somewhere...
KingsX Posted 3 May 2017 Posted 3 May 2017 Top 20 worldwide in revenue, 2 years running is a new world for this club. Of course six of those above are also in the PL, most having 2x (ManU 3x) the top line.

We do because as champions we get the lions share of the TV pot and as 1/4 finalists, we get the most incom re results.
urban.spaceman Posted 3 May 2017 Posted 3 May 2017 As long as we get more than Arsenal. If you can win the league and still get less prize money than those bastards, while still having the Football League complaining about FFP - just shows you how crocked the sport is.
Wymsey Posted 3 May 2017 Posted 3 May 2017 Should be used to buy another player like Ndidi in midfield or an established young centre-back.
m4DD0gg Posted 4 May 2017 Posted 4 May 2017 Shame it all got rinsed on the 3 donkeys we bought in the summer, the musa/mendy/slimani sandwich of shite.

lgfualol Posted 4 May 2017 Posted 4 May 2017 66m ****ing hell. Time to spend half of it on Ben Gibson.
surrifox Posted 4 May 2017 Posted 4 May 2017 £45 mill from the sales of N'golo and Jeff (over 2 accounting years) too
Tommeh Posted 4 May 2017 Posted 4 May 2017 As opposed to spunking it on fees, wages and agents, clever scouting, academy investment and the following please: - A Proper league winning statue on the stadium forecourt. - Ticket prices reduced, especially matchday / membership fees. - Sponsorship dropped from stand names Ahhh shit time to wake up.

Bit harsh, agree musa looks like a bad buy, but mendy got a bad injury early season, had an op, carried on, but still had a piece of bone floating, so had another op, and out for the season, I'd like to see him fully fit before judging him. Slim is the same, scores when he comes in, but between injuries, afcon, and then sitting on the bench because he picks Okazaki?, still don't get how he gets in, slim does a job, and shouldn't be put in the musa category, in my opinion

From the little we've seen of Mendy then he won't be replacing Drinkwater or Ndidi even at his best. Slimani can't get ahead of Vardy and can't play No 10. Musa has been just garbage. That's about £60m spent there and not one of them improves the first team and between them add up to an absolute disaster of a summer transfer. They're probably costing us about £9m in wages per season as well so that's £70m and counting.

I thought they showed a pre tax profit of 30 mill ?? EDIT: u r right 14/15 : 26m 15/16: 16m Depends when we have to include the champ league income. If it's in the year ending may 17 then cant see how the year ending this may can be below 50mill pre tax - maybe higher. If it's our following financial year then transfer dealings will dictate if/when we show a record profit of course the club will be under some pressure to understate other income to reduce the corporation tax liability. Perhaps that explains the apparent king power sponsorship shirt numbers I saw recently which seemed extremely low.
