Molson Canadian Posted 16 July 2017 Posted 16 July 2017 ROMA STEP UP MAHREZ INTEREST Roma are the frontrunners to sign Leicester City's Riyad Mahrez, according to the Leicester Mercury. Leicester rejected a £20million offer from Roma for Mahrez, according to Sky in Italy, but the Italians are preparing a new offer between £30m and £35m, plus add-ons. This is still thought to be well below Leicester’s valuation of last year’s PFA Player of the Year – who want £50m.

If true then he will go to Roma. 30-35 + add-ons will be sufficient to get us to the table and enter negotiations. We'll see how hard we can negotiate now.
Will1981 Posted 16 July 2017 Posted 16 July 2017 https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/829243/Everton-Theo-Walcott-Arsenal-Transfer-News-Gossip Everton in for Walcott for £30m so maybe Arsenal will come in for Mahrez to replace him. PS if Walcott is worth £30m Mahrez has got to be worth £60m.

Surely that money would be better off invested in a player that actually wants to play. I'm not saying accept a ridiculous bid of £20mill but if you're looking for £50mill then it's not going to happen - at least Sigurdsson has proved himself season after season. Nobody will touch Mahrez for £50mill. I'm saying players who tout their services outwith the scope of the clubs transfer policy should be made an example of. Sit tight and wait for us to accept a transfer offer or follow the clubs transfer request policy. If we sell just because Mahrez spoke about how he wants to leave, then it's an awful precedent. We don't need to be a club that is pushed around by bigger clubs and money anymore, Mahrez is our player and he either plays for us or moves on if the club, not him, wish to sell him.

Kante never actually specified that he wanted to move to a Champions League club, and I think we forced him Chelsea's way because it meant we got more for it due to the clause.

I think Mahrez would play well at Roma, due to the slower way the Italians play, but I don't see it as any step up, other than living in Rome. Champions League means a larger shop window to the real big boys. It's a step up from the mid-table vibes we are giving off currently.

Roma honestly is that the hight of his ambition considering he thinks he's a world beater who's too big for little old Leicester ?
Matt Posted 16 July 2017 Posted 16 July 2017 I do beleive Daily Cannon is one of those click bait sites? However I have to post this purely for comedy value. Quote Leicester have rejected an offer for Riyad Mahrez, according to reports in Italy. The reports coming out of Sky Italy and covered by Marca state that AS Roma have made a £17.5m bid for the 26-year-old, and that this has been turned down by Leicester, who are looking for an offer closer to £26m. Whilst Arsenal have been repeatedly linked with Mahrez for over a year now, all reliable reports have ruled out that Arsenal have made any kind of bid for the Algerian. If the links to Thomas Lemar come to nothing, then it’s possible that Arsenal will then move for the Leicester man, but at this stage the interest in him appears to be nothing more than that. AS Roma are apparently looking to take advantage of the delay in any interest being made formal by Premier League clubs with this reported bid. However, whether they would be willing to pay £26m for a man who has only had one truly class league season in his career remains to be seen. There also remains a possibility that the player’s agent is leaking interest in his client to the media to try and convince clubs like Arsenal to make a move. For now, Riyad will continue his pre-season preparations for Leicester’s trip to the Emirates.http://dailycannon.com/2017/07/leicester-reject-roma-bid-for-mahrez/ £17.5m Looking for an offer closer to £26m?
Kitchandro Posted 16 July 2017 Posted 16 July 2017 How is Roma not a step up when they're in the Champions League? They were 4 points off the title last season. That's a much better move than Arsenal.

If we were looking to get £26m Burnley would've put a bid in. Maybe it's a tactic by Rudkin, start rumours that we want a low price and clubs will wonder why and be put off just incase.

From the top of my head: -different league and that could effect him -a lot less exposure than the PL -he would be what people (especially pl fans) point to when they are talking about a player who had only one great season and than failed to do it again, and with time, his poty season will be discredited. Actually, he is already being discredited by Leicester fans let alone other team's fans

I believe he said he wanted a new experience playing in an different league for a club who finished 4 points off the championship that also regularly qualifies for the champions league sort of fills that criteria

gerrytaggart Posted 16 July 2017 Posted 16 July 2017 Will be a HUGE loss to us. Cant replace a player like Mahrez for 35M in todays market. I dont care what anyone says we will ge a lot weaker without him.

Imagine him up top with Vardy, with through balls from Danny and flick ons from Slim... I'm half serious at that but think he'd be cool.
