Big club in a shite league. I grew up in a semi detached house. My dad moved here from Nottingham after WW2. Our neighbour was Scottish. I remember my dad saying he moved all the way across the pond and still ended up with a Scot as his neighbour

You hardly heard a thing from walker demanding a move ( or most other players TBH) The best comment I've heard so far. How true! Over time, I've changed my mind and now wish he could stay and help the team teach the so-called 'world-class coaches' a lesson or two. In retrospect, last season could be used as a learning experience for the whole Club (players, coaches, fans, owners, etc.).

He has a price given by the club, the club aren't desperate for the money and he has a long contract. If a club wants him they can buy now for the correct fee, if not he stays and works hard and gets sold for silly money in Jan. The comments about terms being agreed is a power move by his agents to make the club look like bad guys not letting him go. Agree! Mahrez ought to be looking at finding himself better representation regardless of how this saga ends. I suspect he was naive and just went along with whatever was thrown at him. In fact, I still doubt whether it was his idea to say he wanted CL when he supposedly is still pursuing Arsenal! Remember that even last year when he was at his top, Wenger & Arsenal NEVER made an official offer. It was mostly bla bla!

ClaphamFox Posted 17 July 2017 Posted 17 July 2017 He's smiling in the club's latest instagram post. He's staying, folks!
Guest Posted 17 July 2017 Posted 17 July 2017 He is staying.....you know why he is ? He won't get the move he wants....to Arsenal or Chelsea Or Man City Or Baraca or any HUGE club - Because they either 1) don't need him 2) won't take the risk on a one good season 3) won't pay the money He won't get the money he probably wants or the assurance of first team football We won't get ANY offers over 27million and unless there are extra's we won't sell He doesn't quite fit into any of the clubs plans We've all seen how easy it is to shut him off as a player (so a reason I don't believe he will move to another prem club) I do find it funny that's it's gone from 50Million Mahrez to Arsenal to todays story £25.5Million Mahrez to Arsenal Close thread!
The_77 Posted 17 July 2017 Posted 17 July 2017 By sectarian religious bigots. My mistake. They must be a small club now.

No one watches scottish football except the Jocks . They are a big fish in a very little pool. I doubt any of their players would last five minutes in the English Prem. I think you may have forgotten about Van Dijk, he played for Celtic. I am not Scottish, but do live here, the terminology you used for Scottish people is derogatory and insulting.

They would walk the Premier League. Definitely not a "crap" league. Roma finished about three points off Juve last season. Also finished second or third the season before.

You will probably be accused of being "one of the PC brigade" but I must admit to cringing when I hear "the jocks". Are we living in 1975? Anyway, of course Celtic are a big fish in a little pond and of course Scottish football is not on par with the best in the world but, as you point out, it doesn't mean no decent player can ever play up here. Mahrez played for a team one could argue is less good than Celtic, as did Vardy. Albrighton could not even get a game for a struggling Villa team. It would seem silly to not look at "less able" teams/divisions as clearly, backed up by empirical evidence, sometimes gems can be unearthed. X

Ted Maul Posted 17 July 2017 Posted 17 July 2017 Seeing as though nobody seems to be anywhere near the asking price, I really wouldn't be surprised if he's still on our books this season. I've got a sneaking suspicion that we will be switching back to the 3-4-1-2 this season, and will have promised Mahrez the free role.

Some of them made England look pretty average a couple of Months ago. There's good player's everywhere, even in poor Teams. As for Celtic, they play to 60Th gates every home game. There was a report a number of years ago as to who was the biggest supported Club in the world and Celtic came out on top. They're probably still in the top 5. Their leagues are struggling since the tv money came into the Premiership. That's no reason to look down on them. I'm not Scottish either, I've actually never been up there either. I keep promising myself a visit as I've heard it's lovely.
