Thracian Posted 6 June 2017 Posted 6 June 2017 The delay is embarrassing and unnecessary. Our owners aren't going to know if Shakespeare's any more capable of bringing in top/ambitious players - if that's what they're worrying about - from one day to the next. What matters now is keeping what we've got and finding out if Shaky can adapt as he's adapted pretty well to everything else thus far. Mention of the Spurs game's a nonsense for all the reasons I've explained before and which affected us generally over that period. Flimsy squad, maintained during Ranieri's watch, poor and ineffective recruitment that didn't strengthen what we had, yet was seemingly overseen by our owners, Rudkin and Ranieri rather than Shakespeare and a wretched spell of injuries and fatigue which affected key players and entire areas of our team and all at the same time. It seems to me that there's an agenda problem with Shakespeare having one view of what's required and our owners another. Bottom line is they've got to make a decision and the sooner the better if we want to avoid another close-season mess to follow on with last year's and the January window which was pretty awful too. Personally I'd go with the bloke who knows our set up best and give him all the support he's entitled to having earned in the best way possible - by keeping us up when "big name" Ranieri would have taken us down and by making a massive contribution to the success we had previously.
Max Power Posted 6 June 2017 Posted 6 June 2017 Could be waiting to finalise a couple new coaches at the same time. Announce the new "team" in one go.

Quite possible, also quite possible he's "doing a Pearson" and getting all his backroom teams contracts sorted first before signing. I think that was mooted as being one of the reasons it took Nige so long to sign up when he contract was running down that time.

Pearson was very good at building a team spirit amongst his troops by quite often putting others before himself. Hopefully Shakey has similar principles and this sort of selflessness will bring stability to the management structure and will be to the benefit of the team/club.
UPinCarolina Posted 6 June 2017 Posted 6 June 2017 Bring back the sport psychologist and the physio personnel.
Tuna Posted 6 June 2017 Posted 6 June 2017 Another day almost done and still no manager. It's getting a bit boring now.

Detroit Blues Posted 6 June 2017 Posted 6 June 2017 Not sure the validity of espnfc, but I thought I'd leave this anyway: http://www.espnfc.com/leicester-city/story/3139572/leicester-to-appoint-craig-shakespeare-as-manager-permanently-sources "Craig Shakespeare is set to be handed the Leicester City job on a permanent basis, sources close to the club have told ESPN FC."
volpeazzurro Posted 6 June 2017 Posted 6 June 2017 Top and his Dad are shrewd businessmen and if they have not announced Shakespeare as our new manager yet there's only two reasons. Either they don't want him and moves are afoot to bring someone else in or, there's another very good reason that we are not privy to, but it's very important to them and the good of the club. Do people honestly think that issues such as transfers, players thoughts, stability and the myriad of other things spouted on here haven't crossed their minds also? This forum in the main is made up of keen dedicated football supporters who nevertheless haven't, despite their opinion and sometimes a tiny bit of very low scale experience, got the foggiest idea of the complexities and what it takes to run and maintain a Premiership football business which is what it is. They will also be well aware of the successes or otherwise of the last transfer policies, after all, whilst we watch, they've stumped up millions of pounds and questions will be asked. Presumably, they will have spent their money following recommendations from certain individuals who will also be under scrutiny. Walsh, Shakespeare, Ranieri and Rudkin are just part of that story and we only guess we know who did what, where and when. Our owners are not daft people, if there's been no appointment yet, there's a bloody good reason. Our impatience is of absolutely no consequence to them nor should it be.

Doesn't BT Sport own ESPN? If so, they're reliable and more so than Sky imo. Me and Sylofox from our different sources seem to be correct then that Shakespeare is set to be handed the role once certain matters are resolved.
HighPeakFox Posted 6 June 2017 Posted 6 June 2017 It isn't embarrassing whatsoever - it's not even news.

Doesn't matter a jot to me what the media or other clubs supporters think. Big decisions need to be made and those that know the FULL facts are considering their options. End of for me. Whether they get it right or wrong they have to live by those decisions which could cost them a lot of money.

ESPN is owned by ABC (American Broadcast Company) which is then owned by Disney. Not sure who owns BT Sport.

There's no further elaboration. It just seems a long time being resolved. Babs might well be right about the team being recruited to join the manager though I'm not sure delaying an announcement is necessarily encouraging to prospective signings . That said, Shaky's already remarked that these are well advanced. Overall, therefore, I presume Shaky and Rudkin are just getting on with their jobs and lettings everything else take its course.

Callabinho Posted 6 June 2017 Posted 6 June 2017 Personally think it's a huge mistake giving it to him full time. People say it's unrealistic but it really isn't....Tuchel and Schmidt would be my choices....there's nothing ridiculous about it at all, it's ambitious and if they say no then fair enough. I can't help but think this will go horribly wrong.
