Looking more like aerial assault some big men we will have up front . Plus the new goalie 6.7". Smile please were moving forward . ?

Yes very much needed. I've always thought we were a bit lightweight compared to other Teams.

Looks like he might suit the PL, but he isn't going to be box to box at 6'3".

You're right, he's big enough to be a box and box with a foot in each box, what a time to be alive

Can't see 3-5-2 shakey is a 442 man. How does 433 give you two main strikers? It's one striker two wide men.

Do we know that for sure? He was with Pearson during the great escape.

Edit: OK, already discussed later in the thread.

I hope this doesn't mean we're going to a 3-5-2 because we will have no creativity through the middle, you can get away with it when you are playing our 442 because we set up traps and force opponents into errors and disrupting their play, much harder to do with the 352 as their is only one man pressing on each side in the wide area. Our 442 we play got us promoted, won the premier league and took us to the champions league quarter finals. Would be stupid for us to change the style now. I do think tho however the 3-5-2 is great for when we need to go at a team and have nothing to lose

I think a 4-2-3-1 is more what we are looking at based on our recruiting. We will almost certainly stick with a 4-4-2 to some extent, but I am thinking we may do like Juventus, who defend out of a 4-4-2, but when they have the ball, they often transition to a 4-2-3-1 (double layer of midfield) and they have a CB who is a very accurate deep passer, and another one who is very comfortable bringing the ball up himself (Chiellini). They use these guys with their two MF pivots to bring the ball fwd in a controlled fashion.

What would that look like? If we get Gibson, we suddenly have two starting CBs (Maguire and Gibson) comfortable bringing the ball forward (three if Chilwell were to play). If we paired Ndidi and DD as the 2, we can use them as pivots in partnership with our CBs to move the ball fwd in a controlled way, maintaining possession, which is an area that aggressive pressing teams like Sevilla and Athletico Madrid really exposed us on. Though I admittedly don't know whether DD or Iborra would be better as an AM, but I do believe either would be a capable pairing with Ndidi. But Iborra gives us a swiss army MF who can play anywhere in the center MF, can score even when playing DM, is able to transition to AM in the blink of an eye and do so capably. He seems an ideal sort of player to utilize if we want to move between formations situationally.

Incidentally, I'm not at all convinced Iborra will start for us. I think he might, but he might just be an impact sub who regularly comes on. In any event, he is pretty cheap for a player who may start, and he is hard-working and tenacious AF. If he signs, welcome.

That's highly debatable he's better than what we have, he won't oust Ndidi or Drinkwater I suspect.

I can't agree based on our midfield last season, of which all players remain.

Based on what I saw of the midfield we had I KNOW if we had Iborra on the bench last season he'd have played instead of King or Amartey - that's half a season.

In the second half of last season Drinkwater 'went to the dogs' and he would have been playing instead of him, when he was so, so poor.

I.e. Injured, but still better than the alternatives

He's apparently their least technical player and his whoscored weak point is passing. He's 6ft 3" and about as mobile as me.

I just can't see how that replaces anyone in our very mobile CM pairing.

I accept that mobility may not be his 'strength' but I'm not sure I'd have put Drinks in the 'mobile' department last season.

Just the opposite in fact I thought he was laboured, heavy looking and immobile for all bar the first three months.

Well we know he was carrying an injury, fingers crossed that's cleared up and we get the usual Drinkwater back.

That was quick. The Master Rudkin pulling strings behind the scenes what a worker

But he's on holiday. He can't possibly have had anything to do with this signing......................

Check out the translations of some of the tweets from fans in response to Seville's tweet. They're not happy at all, which bodes well. I particularly like this one:

"Keep selling major players all age, who is missing the whores cocaine with the commissions of the signings eh! vamooooos!"
