Throw silly money at Allardyce hes already been making noise about coming out of retirement and has a very good track record with teams like ours.

Eddie Howe.

Fast, attacking, football.

I rate Howe but he has an area of major concern. His big money transfers  (£10m+) have been average at best, failures at worst. He still relies on players he signed from Woking and Hereford that got Bournemouth promoted.

At Leicester he would get a lot of money and probably waste it even more than we currently have.

Villas-Boas?

The signings he made with the Bale money were pretty shocking at Spurs. Out of 7 only Eriksen has been a great signing. Probably fit in well here on that basis....

The fact that they couldn't beat a shit Leicester, says something

Well, you don't always get what you deserve. Neither team got what it deserved today.

True. Still not convinced with Howe just yet though. His big signings haven't been great and thats where we need huge improvement at the moment

I don't see the point in sacking Shakespeare if the people in charge of player recruitment remain. We are paying top dollar for bog average players and wonder why it all goes to pot with a few short term injuries. If the equivalent of the Silva fiasco happened in any other multi million pound business heads would have rolled.

The worry is that Drinkwater was sold, as he's admitted over his head. So clearly the owners/those above him can't be 100% in their belief in him if he doesn't have full say over ins and outs.

Rightly or wrongly, I don't think our manager, whoever that might be, has full control over who we sign.

I just have an odd feeling that our scouting 'team' produce a shortlist and the signings come from that if sanctioned by the board.

The manager might have a decent input, but I don't think that the final decision comes from his office ! We signed players under Ranieri who'd been scouted under the NP regime and Maguire/Silva this summer who were targets from the pre 'Shaky' days !

Think you are right. I'd say wrongly as if the manager doesn't have full say over signings then he can't have the full confidence of the Board. Having that structure never seems to work ultimately the manager has to have final say, if not then you have the wrong manager and wrong system as he's just a glorified coach. It's like communism can't think of a single example of it actually working.

We have commissioned our best sergeant. Always a bad move, you just lose your best sergeant.

Who would probably be pacified by being offered the Sergeant role if Alardyce or Peason were appointed, but we really do need a new broom here imo.

Meanwhile back at the French ranch, our former manager we so unceremoniously sacked, is now in third place with a crappy little group! lol

Ranieri doing well elsewhere doesn't mean we were wrong to sack him.

Shakespeare not being an adequate replacement does not mean we were wrong to sack Ranieri.

(and yes I know you didn't say that it did)

Cant judge shakey on this current situation....we dont have a midfield, its as simple as that.

If we didnt have a defence we wouldnt win games likewise if we didnt have a forward line.

Can anyone name a manager in world football that can win games without a midfield?????

If the 2 man midfield is not working, then you change the formation and put three in midfield, if thousand of fans can see that, why cant the management.

Because we dont have the players for it. James is injured, Iborra is not match fit after his injury and Silva cant play due to FIFA doing things by the book for the first time in their history.
