4 years left on contract so basically it's give us the Matic money or no dice. Nice to see us playing aggressive with our strong hand for once

I'm happy with that. We hold all the cards here and if they really want Drinky they're going to have to pay through the nose.

He ticks a lot of boxes for them with him being homegrown and a central midfielder. We've probably asked for £40m but will accept £35m.

They won't pay  £40m. Why they got rid of both Loftus cheek & Chalobah is baffling.

tbf theyve sent out on loan Lewis Baker too, so theyve sent out/sold a good few english players this transfer window,

glad to see we've put a high price tag on him, if Conte rates DD so highly then Chelsea wont mind paying what we want,

wouldnt want DD to go mind

I'd be pissed off if I was a highly rated youngster like Lewis Baker or Loftus-Cheek that instead of promoting them to the first team squad they'd rather spend huge money on DD.

Loftus-Cheek looked pretty good for Palace on Saturday even amongst their total shitshow. So weird that Chelsea sent him out

I really don't think we should sell DD. We'd just leave ourselves with the same problem of depth we had last year when we had to play King and Amartey for a load of games, and we really don't know if Matty James is genuinely still good enough yet. Plus DD can actually pass which elevates him above 90% of our squad

NP didn't get on with him and Vardy has said that he could start a fight in a phone box. Perhaps he has a slight attitude and lowers the mood? Perhaps we want him gone because he is so miserable?

Drinkwater isn't world class or irreplaceable. He's an excellent player but if we got £35m-£40m for him I think we can assume with a good degree of certainty that he'll never be worth any more that that.

I'm all for selling our players when there value is at a peak price especially when they're replaceable. For us to refuse £35m-£40m is a terrible indictment on our scouting team that they don't have the imagination or ability to make us better long term with that money.

£40 million we won't get but we might get £35 at a push.

How we'd replace him I don't know as we can pay over £100k a week in wages but nobody worth £50 million wants to come here seemingly.

Drinkwater is a good player. There's no revisionism needed.  He was excellent for us in the title winning season and last season until he got injured.  But this is Chelsea, so of course he's had his head turned.  He wants to play European football on a regular basis, so he wants to go.  You can't argue with that.  He is good enough to do that.  So it comes down to a question of price.  As long as the price is fair and Chelsea match it, then he goes.

It's a shame we couldn't have done a deal for 25m + adds on + Lewis Baker on loan for 2 years.

Pretty sure him and Vardy get on pretty well - it was probably just "banter"

£40m for DD!!

Hahaha...the world's gone bonkers!!

Or it's a case of the club pricing DD out of the market, just like Mahrez.

I don't think either have been "priced out".

If you want to come and buy our better players who we aren't actively trying to sell then you have to pay a premium. They don't dictate the price, we do.

It's ok people saying he's not worth that drinky/mahrez  but you need to replace the player without putting any extra money. Most avarage players have had 9/10M put on them just because of stupid TV money.

I'm a big fan when he's on his game but I think it would be hard to turn down a bid of £30m plus for him and use the money to bid for someone who offers a greater goal threat from midfield and more creativity.

Yes, but no-one is going to pay 40 million for DD and 50 million for Mahrez.

I get that, but it's known he's quite moody. Just thinking it might be why he's not wanted as first choice. Surely his ability can't be questioned.

We would have no chance of replacing him adequately for the money being discussed. On his game he directs our play as one of our best players. Absolutely need to keep him. Some of our fans have honestly lost their heads over the last 18 months.

No way Chelsea will pay £40m for Drinky, its like the Mahez situation - we dont NEED to sell, they both have long contracts and we can put any figure on we want for them.

The only problem is if we give them high price tags and they get disheartened and then they dont perform to the standards we expect from them. I personally dont think this will happen but time will tell.

IF Chelsea do get THAT desperate and do offer £40m, it would probably be good business to sell. Although i would be sad to see him leave the club.

There is some players with release clauses lower than 40m or slightly above that are levels above drink water, I'd sell him for 35m+

They do also need to want to come to lcfc  ......

Loads of foreign based players would want to join us.

Adrien Silva for example is on £17k a week at Sporting and I see he hasn't got his move yet this window. He'd jump at the chance of coming here over staying at Sporting.

His last contract he was on $2.43m per year, which equates to c£36k/wk. The new contract he signed last summer is probably more than that.
